Xiaomi Redmi 9T First Impressions Philippines - No compromise budget phone?

Hi everyone welcome back to the gig guide channel. It's me again, peter of gizguy. com, and today we have Xiaomi's newest budget smartphone in town this is it the Redmi 90. , so without any further ado, let's check it out. Building upon the success of the polo, m3 Xiaomi today launched its very first smartphone of the year here in the Philippines. This one is called the Redmi 90.

Basically, this is a budget phone that is mostly the same with the Poco m3, except that it has a new design and a useful ultra-wide angle camera at this price point. This is easily among the most competitive around based on its specs. Let's check it out for the built-in design it has the same materials used by the Poco m3. It has this unibody build with an anti-fingerprint textured back as well as a slash proof, NATO coating and, as you can see here, depending on the light hitting this device there are rays. It also has this big Redmi logo at the bottom corner of the phone, which indicates that this is a Redmi device on the upper portion of its map.

As you can see, it has a camera island. This contains the four cameras of the phone, and what I like here is the camera. Hump is not that thick. It is just right, especially if you will put a case on this. This won't be that noticeable anymore.

According to the website of Xiaomi, this one will be available in carbon gray twilight, blue sunrise, orange and ocean green colors, and for me, this carbon gray color edition is both neat looking and premium looking at the same time. That is even if this phone is considered as a budget device. Also, I would like to note that I, like its curve back cover as it made this handset easier to hold, and, as mentioned earlier, it has a text short back design. So it is not that slippery at all in front. It has a fairly large display.

It uses a 6.53 inch, FHD, plus dot drop display, and, as you can see here, it has slim bezels on the sides and on the top, the shin bezel again. This is a budget smartphone, it's thicker than what we wanted. But again, let's remember that this is a budget phone, not a high-end phone. Also, it has a notch. The notch is the one: that's housing, the selfie camera of this device.

On top of the notch, you will see that it has an ear speaker as well also to protect this from unwanted scratches and damages Xiaomi equipped this with gorilla glass, 3 protection. On top of that gorilla, glass, 3 protection, it has a pre-installed screen protector as well. On top, you will find the first speaker grill. So this is it, and then you will find that it also has a 3.5 millimeter headphone slot, the female port, and then this hole. This one is for the IR blaster guys.

This is one of the few budget phones that has a remote control function. Thanks to this sensor, and we are glad that Xiaomi is keeping that feature alive on budget smartphones, underneath it has the USB type c port, yes, guys type c on a budget, and then I think this is the microphone hole and then the other speaker. Yes guys. This has a stereo speaker, setup and phones with steer. Speakers set up.

Are very rare under 10, 000 pesos? This is one of them at left. You will find that it has this sim tray slot, so we will try to open it. Okay, I'll, try to open it now. The sim tray slot is a triple slot tray. That means that it has this slot for the dual NATO sim cards, and it has a slot for the micro SD card.

That is very nice to know in case you are wondering this device also has a fingerprint scanner, but it is not located at the back of the phone instead to make the back of the phone look. Cleaner Xiaomi place the fingerprint scanner on the right side of the phone, and, aside from that, this fingerprint scanner also works as the power button. It is a press a ball button and on top of it you will see the volume down and volume up keys. We are also hauling this the volume rocker, as expected, the fingerprint scanner that Xiaomi placed here works in just a tap so far. We think that Xiaomi did a commendable job in its building design department, despite only using polycarbonate materials.

Yes guys this is made out of plastic, but this type of plastic is a good type of plastic. It feels durable, it is lightweight, and it feels nice to hold in general. I also like that Xiaomi was able to add the gorilla glass 3 protection here on top, and it also has some sort of water splash resistance that will prevent this phone from getting damaged from accidental water, splashes or quick submersion in the water for cameras. We are glad to note that this is one of the few budget smartphones today, that is, sporting, a 48 mp main shooter, and that 48 MB main shooter has an f 1.79 aperture size, and it also has speed up for faster and more accurate, focusing also, you will get a 8mp up, 2.2 120 degree, ultra-wide angle, shooter. This is the kind of camera sensor that is missing with the Poco m3, and this is the type of camera sensor that we do not want to miss on smartphones today.

Also, it has a 2 mp macro camera for super close up shots. If you want to use that- and it has this usual 2mp up 2.4 sensor for your dev effect or what you call the DSLR like blur or both effect in the front, the camera found on its notch is an 8 mp, 2.05 shooter and, as usual, it has most of the basic modes found on Xiaomi devices like the face beauty, portrait mode and several filters. Now I will show you some of the first few shots that we took using this phone. Let's begin do so far, we think that this back cameras is quite nice for the price. As expected, it takes natural.

Looking photos in daylight and overexposure is not present. Fortunately, we are also glad that Xiaomi added an ultra-wide angle, camera as well. This is the feature that is not present with the Poco m3. It also performs well in close-ups, even if you don't use the macro mode for indoors most of the shots that we do are just fine. I would also like to note that its ultra-wide angle, camera is not that distorted compared to other, with the right-handed cameras in low light.

We haven't checked it that much yet, but this is one of the few budget phones with a night mode for the main camera. Sadly, the night mode is not available for the selfie camera for selfies its 8 megapixel camera works well in most conditions, even its portrait mode is respectable, with decent edge detection, although it could have been more natural. Looking, however, it won't perform that well in conditions with harsh lighting and low light, but that's understandable for budget smartphones in videos it can capture using both the white and ultra-wide angle cameras. It is just weird that we can't set its shooting mode to 1080p for selfies the 1080p selfie video shooting mode is working, so hopefully Xiaomi can do something about this, maybe just an update to make sure that the back cameras can also take 1080p videos. Maybe we have yet to fully test this device, but so far these are its highlights.

Number one, the display this is one of the few with a 1080p display. It also has the wide vine l1 certification. That means that this supports up to 1080p Netflix viewing or the HD viewing experience. Unlike other phones, without that certification, that can only play Netflix up to 480p on smartphones. In addition, it has this type of breathing mode.

That lessens the emission of blue light to protect our eyes from its harmful element, and this reading mode has been certified by TUV Rylan and, of course, it has this dark mode that we all love in terms of actual performance. This device is pretty fast. It is using the 2.0 gigahertz 11 nanometer snapdragon 662, outscore processor. This is, I think, just as fast and slightly even more power efficient compared to the snapdragon 665 a few years ago, and this can run a few games with ease. We tested NPA 2k20, and it was able to run it default settings very smoothly and the thermals it's just fine.

It does not get hot. It is just warm, but not hot. Also. This has at least four gigabytes of ram for multitasking, and then you get up to one to eight gigabytes of storage. It also has a 64 gig storage variant and that 64 gig storage is using the UFS 2.1 technology. The one 128 version is using the slightly faster UFS 2.2, and the UFS standard for the storage of this device is definitely faster than the eMMC. Compared to other budget smartphones for batteries, we still have to test its 6000 my capacity, but based on our experience, most Xiaomi smartphones with this type of big battery can really last for days.

Personally, I think that this will last for up to two days on a single charge and speaking of charging, this one has the USB port and that USB, a reversible port, supports up to 18 watts, charging and Xiaomi said that in the box of this device, they will include a 22.5 watts fast charging, with backward compatibility to 18 watts, unlike other smartphones, without chargers this device, it still has an in-box charger. Another thing this is one of the very few budget smartphones today that has a stereo speaker setup, as mentioned earlier. It has one speaker here and another speaker at the bottom to provide that stereo sound effect that will make sure that this phone will have a louder and a slightly wider, sound stage experience compared to other budget smartphones, which has a single speaker setup. This also has a 3.5 millimeter headphone slot with a high-res audio certification. I think this is one of the most affordable around aside from the Poco m3, with high-res certification for wired headphones, and that is a very welcome addition.

As of the moment, this is one of the few budget phones that provides a near complete experience. It has a good build, a 1080p screen capable overall specs large battery capacity, decent cameras and even stereo speakers and high-res audio certification. So far, despite a few kinks in its armor, we think that this is a good phone, especially at this price point. Of course, this is not our full review, yet we will check its complete capabilities in the next few days, so see you guys in our full review again. This is peterbisguy.
