Samsung Galaxy A20 in 2020 - (Still Worth Buying?)

Is, the Samsung Galaxy a 20 worth buying in 2020 well in this video we're going to find out. This video is sponsored by the PAC world travel adapter by septic, if you're going on an international trip any time soon. This is certainly a product that you definitely need to get you get adapters here for nearly every country in the world, I like how it's very organized, so you know which is for which country you then slide the adapter into the back of the unit, and then you're provided with an u. s. three prong outlet, you're, also getting a two prong outlet, you're, getting a USB, a port and a USB-C port, but thanks again septic for sponsoring this video and check out the link in the video description to learn more hi everyone. This is Kevin here, and this is the Samsung Galaxy h, 1e, so we're now in early 2020, and this device was launched in April 2000 the being a year old, but even now in early 2020, it's still a perfect device.

Now this device has been a huge success for Samsung ever since being launched. I know it was especially popular over the summer and then into the fall, and that's because it's a great phone you're really getting a lot here for the money. Now you can actually get this factory unlocked on Amazon for around $180 definitely make sure to check out the link in the video description to see the most up-to-date pricing for it. But I know that many people have chosen to go. The factory unlocked route versus going to the carrier because you do get a lot of flexibility to be able to move from carrier to carrier.

Now. If your carrier does offer the galaxy a 20, then you might be able to save a lot of money because I know for metro by T-Mobile, for example, they were offering this phone for free if you were to switch in from a different carrier, but with the Samsung Galaxy, a 20 you're, getting a massive six point. Four inch display at 720p with the 19 and a half by nine aspect ratios. So another really awesome thing about this. Display too, is that it features AMOLED display technology.

So many of the budget- smartphones- that we have seen nowadays still come with LCDs an LCD, isn't necessarily bad, but with AMOLED it really takes you to a whole new level. So with amyloid displays you're getting much better, looking colors you're, getting better viewing angles as well, and overall it gives you a much more premium experience. So I'm really surprised that Samsung was even able to offer an AMOLED display at this price, because that's typically a feature that you find with much more expensive phones. Now that 19 and a half by nine aspect ratios is definitely a great thing to see as well. It gives you a nice slim but tall form, factor, and I'm personally, a big fan of it, because it makes the device great for browsing the web and going on social media, because you can fit a lot more content in the display.

So nowadays, people are doing a lot of things where they're scrolling vertically and if you're doing that you know you can see more posts in your feed on a display like this compared to a display that has a 16 by 9 or 18 by 9 aspect ratio. Now, even though this display is 720p, it still looks really crisp and clear. So I certainly wouldn't consider that to be a deal-breaker with this phone I would say. The most appealing aspect of the display certainly has to be that it is AMOLED, and once you go amyloid, it's really hard to go back to anything inferior to it like LCD. Now the phone does feature the water drop notch design at the top here.

So you can see that we do have the front facing camera up there, which is 8 megapixels and with it, you'll take some pretty good-looking photos, so nice clear, looking selfies with good colors, pretty consistent with what Samsung is known for now. If you do want to go even a little wider, there is another option here to kind of crop things out a little now. It's the same. Camera, of course, there's just one camera here at the top, but this wider mode is better if you want to kind of have more of your surroundings in the frame, but also, if you're, taking a selfie of a group. So maybe you and some other people.

This mode is especially useful, so really happy about that we do get perfect front-facing photo and video quality with the phone. Of course, if you want to see a bunch of photo and video samples check out my full Samsung Galaxy h20 room, which is here on the channel, but overall with the display you're getting a perfect screen to body ratio. You can see down at the bottom here we do have a little of a thicker bottom bezel and a little later in the video I'm going to be talking about my predictions for the galaxy a21, which will be the successor to this phone coming out in 2020, and you know, beyond that, I'm going to make a dedicated age 21 predictions video as well. So definitely a lot to look forward to in the future. From me now the phone does feature 32 gigabytes of internal storage, so not extremely impressive.

I know it would be nice to see 64 gigs of internal storage, but thankfully we do get SD card expansion up to 512 gigabytes. So if you do want to keep a lot of photos and videos on the phone, you do have the ability to add a micros card to expand that storage, but of course, there's nothing better than having real internal storage, so maybe with the next generation of this phone, we'll get 64, gigs I certainly hope, so now there is no wireless charging with the Samsung Galaxy 820, but we do get a fingerprint sensor on the back and that fingerprint sensor is actually very quick and accurate, so it works really well. In addition to that, you do get face unlock as well, so you do have multiple ways to unlock the phone, so you just need to go with whatever you prefer now. Also, on the rear of the device is the camera module, and this is one of the biggest surprises with the galaxy h1, II and I think this is one of the reasons why the device was especially popular and that's because we're getting a dual camera setup here with a 12, megapixel main camera and a five megapixel secondary camera. But the Samsung Galaxy 820 has a trick up its sleeve that secondary camera not only gives you live, focused portrait mode, but you're also getting an ultra wide-angle camera built into the camera.

So, with the galaxy, a 20 you're getting abilities that you typically get with triple camera phones, but you get that all combined into just two camera modules. So I'll give you an example of how the wide angle works, so I'll pull up the camera app again and then switch over to the rear camera. So you can see this is how things look with the main camera. Now then, I can move over you this button to the left here and then switch over to the ultra wide-angle camera, and you can see how much more content is able to fit into the frame here. So certainly with a wide-angle camera, it's not a gimmick.

It's actually a feature that I use all the time, and I'm a huge fan of, and I don't recommend using the wide-angle camera for every photo. You take, of course, the 13 megapixel main camera is going to give you better photo quality overall, but I would recommend kind of doing a mix of both, so there are certain situations where the main camera makes sense and then there are other situations where the ultra wide-angle camera makes sense like taking photos of a group taking photos of buildings or scenery. You know that's a great opportunity to use the ultra wide-angle camera, but if you do want to take low-light photos or photos with more clarity and detail, then I would switch over to the main camera, but again for a device that is under $200. Giving an ultra wide-angle camera option on here really is something that you usually do. Not expect to get with a budget smartphone, so I, certainly like that.

A lot now with the device for getting three gigabytes of RAM, which is decent. You know, I, would like to see four, but three is not too bad, even in 2020 it gets the job done. But what's most important about the three gigs of ram is that Samsung has combined that with the Enos 7 8 8 4 processor, and you do get pretty good performance with the phone of course you're not getting performance at the level that you would get with a flagship phone like the galaxy s 10 or even the upcoming Galaxy S 20, but you're still getting good usable performance with the device and, what's especially nice too, is that Samsung has done an excellent job. Optimizing the software to work really well with the phone now I did Ronnie man 2 to benchmark test with the device. So you can take a look at that score to kind of compare it to your current situation, but essentially I got an overall score of 1 1 9 2 to 2.

So, typically, if the device has an intuitive benchmark score of over 100,000, you should expect pretty decent performance from it. Now, if the score happens to be under 100,000, you probably will have to deal with some sort of lag or hit, or something like that. But, of course, as the score goes up, you'll typically get better performance. Of course, there's a lot of other factors that contribute to the kind of performance you're going to get with a phone such as software optimization, but Samsung does do a great job like I mentioned before optimizing their software. Now, video recording with the device maxes out at 1080p at 30 frames per second.

It takes pretty decent video and, like I, mentioned earlier. If you want to learn more about the video quality from the phone check out, my full review that I did here on the channel several months ago now. Another nice surprise with the Samsung Galaxy h20, is that we're getting a beefy four thousand William hour internal battery, so a lot of battery capacity with this device, in fact, at four thousand William hours, you're getting more battery capacity with this, then you're. Getting the Samsung Galaxy Note, 10, and I'm a big fan of that now. Software wise I, already kind of mentioned that we do have Samsung skin here.

So you are getting the full Samsung experience, whether you like it or not, and it does run Android 9pi now, when this phone first launched I assumed that, since it is a budget phone, we would never see Android 10 with this, but actually to my surprise. Samsung has claimed that the phone will be getting an update to Android 10 in May 2020. So I know that's still several months from now, but still really awesome to see, and I doubt it will get Android 11, but at least we are gonna, be getting an update to Android 10, which should also give us Samsung's 1 UI 2, which will certainly make this phone more appealing and will give it more longevity. Now, let's cross our fingers, that they do actually deliver Android 10 on time now, I'm not against Samsung, taking their time to make sure that they do a perfect job with the update. But let's hope that we do at least get it on time.

Now that we've talked about the specifications of the phone in the pricing, let's talk a bit more about the hardware, so overall the device is very well-built. So it is mostly a plastic bill here, but thankfully it does feel very high quality, so I don't think that there was really much they can improve on. Of course, you know, there's certainly build quality elements that would have been nice to see like a glass back or metal along the sides, but again for a phone that is under $200 brand-new I. Don't typically expect to see those types of build quality features on the left side of the device. You have the slot for the micro, SD card and SIM card, then on the right side of the phone we have the power button and volume button.

Then, on the top we have the noise-cancelling microphone and then on the bottom. We have the headphone jack USB, C port for charging and data transfer, the microphone and the speaker. So you do get USB-C with the Samsung Galaxy h 1e, which is an excellent thing to see. I can't believe that now in 2020, even we have new devices coming out that still has micro, USB such as the LG, Arista, 4 plus and others as well, not really trying to single out that one device, but really can we please leave Micro USB behind in the last decade. I really don't need to see micro, USB anymore on any new devices that come out so props to Samsung, though, for giving this device USB-C, as that's really the way to go now on the rear of the phone, we have the camera module.

We have the flash with a fingerprint sensor and Samsung logo. You can probably already see, though, that the phone is a fingerprint magnet. So we do get this plastic material in the back. That is glossy, and it certainly does not hide fingerprints. That's for sure now, I know.

A lot of people will probably pair this phone up with a case and if you're doing that, then it's not really a big deal. The phone does collect fingerprints. The Samsung Galaxy h1 II is an excellent device for viewing video content. So with that AMOLED display you're getting extremely great-looking colors, so it really does make video viewing pop. Now, since the display is 720p, you are limited to watching YouTube videos at 720p.

So just keep that in mind if you do end up getting this phone, but it's good for watching videos. The speaker is nice and loud and clear. It doesn't quite get as loud as a flagship phone would. But since this phone is not a flagship I, don't really expect that. So it's a great phone for consuming content.

Now one of the biggest misconceptions about the Samsung Galaxy, a 20 is that the phone is a small phone. Many people assume that, since the device is a budget phone, it's going to be tiny. But that's really not the case. Now you can see here is the galaxy, a 20 up next to the iPhone 11, and it's a bigger device in the iPhone 11 you're. Getting a bigger display, you're, getting a smaller notch at the top.

So overall I think it has a better design than the iPhone, 11 and I. Think if you put these two devices side-by-side and ask someone to tell you which phone is the more premium option, I think a lot of people would probably gravitate towards the galaxy 820. Do its larger display, better screen to body ratio and the clarity of AMOLED here I mean the iPhone 11 doesn't even have AMOLED, it has LCD, so this device starts at $6.99 so significantly more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy h20. Now I do have a dedicated video on the channel. Where I compare these two phones and I know for the people out there.

That will say it's not a hair comparison. It's absolutely not a fair comparison. That's not the point. The point is, though, that the galaxy 820 does give you certain features that you cannot find with the iPhone 11. So not too much has been leaked out so far about the Samsung Galaxy, a 21 which is the phone that will inevitably replace the 20, but I would expect to see it come out and around April 2020, just like the galaxy.

A 20 came out in April 2019. So if you're trying to decide whether you should go for this device now or if you should wait several months for the galaxy, a 21, it's really up to you. It really depends on the urgency that you need a new phone and if you really do need one pretty quickly, then you might just want to go for the 20. But if you don't mind waiting several months, then I would probably wait for the age 21. But let me know what you think of the Samsung Galaxy, a 20 and 20 20, a lot of 20.

Is there and then, of course we have the Samsung Galaxy s 20 coming out as well, so this year is full of 20s, but I hope you enjoyed the video if you are looking to buy this device check out the link in the video description, and you can buy it. Factory unlocked on Amazon, but I hope you enjoyed the video if you're new to the channel make sure to subscribe for awesome content in the future. But this is Kevin here and I will see you in the next video.
