iPad Pro 2021 - Update!!!

So earlier this week, I did a little update video on the iPad Pro 2021, and I explained to you guys why I don't think it's coming in April. Stuff happened in the meantime, so here we go again. Let's have the latest updates, let's ramble, all right guys just quickly before we dive in, if you like, receiving the latest news and updates, you might want to consider hitting that subscribe button and, of course, the notification bell to feed that photo, because I will be updating you guys on the regular as well as doing some honest tech reviews. I upload twice a week, so you can expect plenty of content coming your way, alright. So what happened since last time we talked five days ago, just a quick recap: people were still pretty convinced of the new iPad Pro dropping in April and that included King, who is the top dog, the leaker of leakers, the capo d2t copy of Apple news, although he did say that the Wi-Fi version might drop first and the 5g version later on this year, I'm still not buying it. I do think the iPad Pro 11 inches might still drop via press release very soon, and I will explain why in a minute, but I just don't see the 12.9 inch dropping before September. What we also saw is a bunch of new sources.

We spent a lot of time talking about uncle pan, who seemingly came out of nowhere with his leaks and who doesn't have an accuracy score on apple track. Yet he showed us stickers which looked like they belong on the new magic keyboard for the 11-inch iPad Pro indicating that a keyboard and a new 11-inch iPad Pro are imminent. A few days later, he said that new products would be dropping in April, including the new iPad Pro, but he didn't say which version so again. It might just be the 11 inch another one of those sources is Nikki Asia and like uncle pen, they do not have an accuracy score on apple track. Yet so we do need to be mindful of how much value we put on those leaks.

They might be true, they might not be, but then again we're talking about rumors. So that's kind of implied. Having said that, Nikki Asia is known to report on delays and shortages before anyone else does, so there is that their big rumor is that there is currently a massive supply crunch that even apple isn't immune to. In other words, shortages of certain components are causing delays in the production of both mac books and iPads for the mac books. It's chips that seem to be the bottleneck, while the production of iPads is being held up because of a shortage in displays and display components, and this might be referring to the new mini, led technology were all expecting to be present in the new 12.9-inch iPad Pro models. Samsung has also confirmed that the chip shortage could be problematic for their company in the period of April to June.

So this news actually does seem to make sense. Now, let's turn to the main new rumor, and this is a leak by sunny Dixon. Now sunny does have an accuracy score on apple track, but it's certainly not the highest at 57.7 percent. So we do need to consider the fact that his leaks are often hit or miss. So what he shared with us is what he claims to be dummy models of the new iPad Mini and the new iPad Pro models, and it is also useful to know that when it comes to those dummy models, Sam Cole who owns apple track seems to think Dixon's contribution is legit.

So let's assume it is for now. Let's have a closer look at these dummy models and what they might tell us. So the first thing we noticed is that the camera unit or the camera bump sticks out more on the 11-inch version than it does on its bigger brother, and that actually would make sense, because we talked about the chassis of the 12.9-inch iPad, pro possibly becoming thicker to accommodate the new mini LED displays, and that also coincides with earlier rumors that the 11-inch version is not getting a mini, LED display. So this could explain the fact that the camera bump sticks out more on the 11-inch model than it does on the 12.9 inch. Making it look more flush.

The bezels seem to be the same size as they are on the current model, which would dispel some rumors of thinner bezels and, quite honestly, I don't really want thinner bezels, because we need to be able to hold the iPad somehow and thinner. Bezels will only increase the chances of accidentally touching the screen. Alright. What else do we see- and this is probably going to piss off a lot of people, including myself, and that is the fact that the front-facing camera is still at the top of the screen in portrait mode. I mean come on.

People have been asking to please put the selfie camera in the side bezel, so we can use it in landscape mode, which is the mode you would use when you're making a video call on Zoom, for instance, having the camera in portrait mode is just not practical and let's face it. It looks dumb, but let's move on to what I consider the biggest tidbit in these dummy models, and that is the missing smart connector on the back of the 12.9 inch model. Now that is interesting for a couple of reasons. One and again this will piss off a lot of people if the new iPad does, in fact not have the smart connector. This would mean it is not backward compatible with the current magic keyboard, and we know those things ain't cheap.

Having said that, it does reinforce the rumors of a new magic keyboard coming soon, and we also have been seeing pretty significant price drops in the current magic keyboard, which also is an indicator that the new keyboard will be coming soon. So if we don't have the smart connector on the back, how will the iPad connect to the magic keyboard? Well, it could be that the smart connector dots are moved to the side, but we can't really tell from the leaked images. It could also be that the new iPad will use the MagSafe technology we see in the iPhone 12 to charge and potentially also to connect to the keyboard. Another reason why I do think the smart connectors might actually be gone is the fact that we've been hearing rumors of a thunderbolt port coming to the 12.9 inch pro, which would bring a lot more functionality, including connectivity, and this could explain the disappearance of the smart connector. It would be amazing if the new magic keyboard somehow connected to the iPad's thunderbolt port and would offer one or more thunderbolt ports on the keyboard itself.

I mean that would open up a ton of options for using the iPad Pro in combination with the new magic keyboard, so guys, let's just wait and see. I honestly don't know when all of this will actually be announced. Like I said before, I don't expect to see the 12.9-inch iPad dropping before September, but of course, I'm not 100 sure. What I am sure about is that I will keep bringing you updates whenever something relevant happens. So if you want to be kept in the loop be sure to hit that subscribe button and the notification bell, and if you got any kind of value out of this video, please give it a like.

It really does help the channel. Thank you so much for watching and see you in the next one. Do you?.
