Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G Review with Pros & Cons (India Unit)

Hi there this is transit and in this video we'll be doing the full review for the Samsung Galaxy s20, Fe 5g, a variant that comes with the snapdragon 865 and in this video uh, we'll divide it between the pros and cons. What do did, I feel, was good? What was bad and guys I won't get into the physical aspects and other aspects of this device. Watch the unboxing video I've covered all those aspects, so, let's quickly jump between them, and I'll see the summary right away. I would say this has to be one of the better Samsung smartphones uh, one of the best. In fact, I would say in this price range around that 45 000, that we have seen from Samsung uh, because now it comes with that snapdragon 865 and the performance because of that has improved drastically compared to the Enos 990. But again, it's not perfect.

So I'll divide it between the pros and cons so that you can make an informed decision. So, let's go over this one and, as you can see guys uh, this is uh. Now. Big thing is that this comes with the snapdragon 865 soc, instead of the Enos 990, and because of that, this is actually a 5g smartphone and in terms of 5g, I like the fact that it is supporting nine bands of 5g. So whenever 5g comes in India that's next year, rest assured 5g will work on this one.

That's a big improvement. I would say as compared to some Chinese counterpart smartphones that are selling 5g, uh phones with just one or two bands of 5g, so that way, it's actually nice and uh. First, if I talk about the build and in hand feel guys, because I've been using it for almost two weeks now, I like the. What do you say, form factor of this one? What we have noticing these days is that we are getting your phones with a very large screen, 6.7 almost 6.8. This is not that big.

This is actually having a 6.5-inch screen, and it's a super AMOLED screen like any other Samsung smartphone. So it's a good quality screen that you're getting it can get pretty bright. Also- and the good thing is that it is on that 120 hertz is supported. I uh use this phone exclusively on only 120 hertz, not at that 60. If you use that 60, you might get even better battery life than what I'll actually show you.

So that way, it's good and uh. I like the enhanced feel of this phone. It does not feel that heavy or big or bulky- I would say, let's look at the weight of this one and let it reset to zero. Yes and, as you can see, very comfortable 190 grams, and this is actually good because these days we are seeing many of the phones uh crossing that 200 210, and that makes it heavy. So this, I would say in terms of in hand, feel it's very comfortable uh.

I guess now. One thing I don't like is that the back is that elastic polycarbonate thing it resists the fingerprints I like it, but this is not glass guys. So that's what I've noticed, but they did manage to put wireless charging on this one, which is actually a nice thing. I personally don't use wireless charging, but I know some people like that, so this has wireless charging. I tested it and it works.

Second thing is regarding the screen, as we are talking about that itself, the screen quality is good enough guys and indoors it's adequately bright. As you can see, I'm right now, keeping on a very low brightness. We can go very, very bright and all those things uh, but the thing is that I noticed that in outdoor uh sun it's summer right now, I felt don't get me wrong guys, it's not a con. I felt it does not get as bright as some other flagship smartphones that I haven't noticed. It's not like you cannot see outdoors, but I felt it could have been even brighter, so not strictly a con, but that is something that I noticed in those no issues whatsoever.

So it's a good AMOLED screen and as I've told you, let me actually show you if I go to the display and all the settings here again. This is the new one UI, and it's uh really, and you have all this thing and the motion smoothness is that 120 hertz that I have set. I did all my testing on this one, so that way, it's nice, and you feel that uh, it's actually smooth within the UI, also no lags whatsoever that I'm noticing on this smartphone and now one more thing guys as it's an amulet screen uh. It does support this always on, but I have disabled uh that one I'm just using this tab before you tap once it shows this always on, and it has this in display fingerprint scanner I'll talk about that in the later part of the video. So next, if we move, is I like the uh snapdragon 865, and I think, so that solved a lot of heating issues that we had with the original galaxy s20 Fe that came with the Enos that used to heat up like crazy.

This one is actually good that department they have actually fixed it uh. Another thing that I like is that this one also has ip68 rating, which we are not finding in this price banks. Uh we used to get a lot of smartphones in this price band with ip6768. Many of the new phones don't have that, but this one does have that. What does it mean? Uh? You can easily dip it in water.

If rain falls anything nothing will happen on this phone. So that way I feel Samsung has done a good job. They didn't cut those features. Now, let's also talk about uh the call quality and the earpiece. Here I have to say, uh Samsung has done an excellent job, not only in terms of network reception right now.

Also guys, as you can see, I've again put my both the sims, that's uh. What do you say? Uh my uh Airtel as well as my Jio, sim, and again I would have to say the network reception was very good both on intel and Jio, at least here in Hyderabad, and also the call uh the speaker. The earpiece quality is very, very good, and I even took very, very long calls on this one about 15 minutes continuous calls. I never had an issue and again no issues with the earpiece or any issues with the proximity sensor. So in those areas I would say call quality uh stability of that they have nailed it no issues whatsoever, which is again an important thing, because what I'm seeing in many of the phones is that they give a lot of specs, but in these areas sometimes they falter.

So if you take a lot of calls, no issues with this smartphone regarding the ram management here I was surprised and the ram management has done very good well on this smartphone and in fact it does not boot out the apps out of the memory. Uh even true caller actually works very well on this smartphone. So that way I would say uh. It is actually doing a very good job in terms of ram management. You don't have to worry so excellent job that Samsung has done, and it does not boot out apps out of memory unnecessarily.

So that's actually a nice thing uh. The next thing is regarding the battery on this one, and I was surprised with this one guys. This has a 4500 William hour battery on this one and, I have to say the battery life. I was getting on this. One surprised me guys uh.

The only thing is that, as I've told you guys, I'm not enabling this always on uh, so this is without always on. If you always enable on yes, the battery will take a little of hit, but I used it without that and let me actually show you the battery stats again guys. This is with uh two sims. I save some stats. If I go to screenshot, let me show you um.

Okay, let's start with this one, I took multiple uh, so first, it's one day, 17 hours. So it's almost after one and a half days, guys uh that we are seeing this battery starts, came down to six percent and screen on time, as you can see six hours 15 minutes. So that's actually perfect. You might say only six hours, 15 minutes, why? Why are you saying that its good look at the standby time, guys one day, 17 hours, so that is what almost close to 40 hours and after that uh it was down to six percent. So this is my like experience easily about one and a half days.

It was giving it to me uh again, as you can see uh. This is a sort of light usage uh, but it lasted over two days and nine hours, guys that's insane and then also I got a screen on time of about 5 hours.28 minutes so- and this is guys always with that 120 hertz, I'm not using the 60hz so nevertheless to say the battery life actually surprised me and in fact it was better than some of the Samsung's flagships that I have used. For example, this one gave me better battery life even than the Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra, which I had used about three months ago. So in terms of battery life, they have done a very good job and this frankly, surprised me guys easily about giving me always about one and a half days of battery life. With my active daily usage scenarios uh, so that way I would say they have done a very good job in terms of battery I'll talk about the charging in the later part of the video okay.

Next, if we move is regarding the camera uh, if you look at the back guys, we have just a triple camera setup and in fact, even if you look at the specs, the specs are not very fancy on this one like what do you say: 48, 64 or 108 megapixels, camera uh. These are actually 12 megapixel camera, the main is 12. Then we have a 12 megapixel uh, uh, that's ultra white and 8 megapixels, that's a zoom lens and I would say it's a very practical camera, no gimmicks and stuff and, as you can see, with the sample shots, this was very surprising. The camera performance, I have to say, is one of the strengths of this smartphone. Not only outdoor shots actually came out good, but even in indoor and artificial lighting, the camera performance was very good.

Even the skin tones were produced very well, so I would say in terms of camera, they didn't hype, it is like crazy with some marketing gimmick or something, but the actual usage of the rear facing camera was actually good. So I feel it's a practical camera that we are getting on this one so guys these were some of the things that actually light with this device. Also, as I've told you, wireless charging is there and now, let's move to the cons that I have noticed with this uh smartphone and the first con that I have again guys. I could say this is not called nitpicking, but the thing is that, as I've told you, it has this in-display fingerprint scanner right now, it's working very well, but I would sometimes say it acts a little finicky and I have to use it about two times. I have to do it, so I would have loved to see a side mounted fingerprint scanner because after testing dozens of phones, I would say this is more practical.

So this is not a bad uh. What do you say in display fingerprint scanner? But again it's not. The fastest that I have seen, in fact I would say the OnePlus smartphones- have a faster in display fingerprint scanner than this one. It works about eighty percent of the time for me, but that twenty percent time sometimes I have to press it right so slight nitpicking that I have no test uh. The next thing is regarding the front facing camera on paper, guys, it's a punch, hole, uh, camera and on paper this should be actually very good because it's a 32 megapixel front facing camera.

But in reality I would say the front facing camera performance was pretty average. As you can see, with these sample shots, it's not bad, but I would say pretty average and I would say if you are a person who uh gets a smartphone mostly for selfies, then I might say this is not the smartphone for you anyways. Let's move to the next one, and I seriously hate Samsung for this in the box in the box, you get a 15 watt charger, and they have the audacity to say that it's a fast charger come on Samsung. I just don't get it giving a 15 watt charger with a phone that cost 46 47 000. Yes, it does support 25 watt fast charging.

When I had old s21. What do you say: uh plus 25 watt charge, and if you use that, yes, it charges quickly, but you have to purchase that separately? So I don't get the point 15 watt charger now in 2021, with a phone that is costing over 40 000. I feel that's just ridiculous again. This is something that I've started, seeing with Samsung smartphones, lately guys uh. They get this one UI uh and all those things, but what I'm noticing is that uh, sometimes you will get some unnecessary notifications over here even with this one.

This is sort of the flagship, smartphone then also uh. For example, if I go over here, the galaxy app was sending unnecessary notification. You can technically disable it. If you just go to I, and here in notification, I block everything. If you don't block it, you get some unnecessary notifications from here and another thing that I've noticed is that some own Samsung native app, for example, the weather app.

If I click here as you can see, we are seeing random ads. So I don't get it what's wrong with Samsung. This is not a mid-range smartphone costs over 40 45 000 around that price point, and now you're getting some ads in Samsung native apps. It's not happening everywhere guys, but some Samsung native apps, as you can see, you are getting those ads. So I simply do not like this trend or, yes, I understand on the mid-range smartphones, you're keeping the cost low, but this is not a mid-range smartphone.

I just don't like that, and I would say this is a sort of nitpicking. I miss that glass back on this one, don't get me wrong. Yes, I know people will debate. This plastic thing is more durable, but if it was class it would have looked even more premium. In my frank opinion, uh.

The next thing is, as I've already told you uh, it does have this always on display guys and uh. Yes, it works pretty fine, but I noticed if I was enabling this always on display uh. The battery life hit, I was getting on a particular day, was almost close to about 13 to 15. So again, that is something you have to uh note and about heating, as I've told you guys. No, this smartphone does not heat up and regular usage and stuff.

It's fine, no issues. Yes, it gets slightly warm at the back, but that is normal uh only a thing that I noticed is when I was gaming continuously for more than half an hour. Yes, the back this area got warm uh, but again I won't call it overheating. Uh, like what we have seen on the Enos 990 variant. So overall, to sum it up, I would say uh.

This is a very good smartphone and one thing that we have to say with almost every new smart new Samsung smartphone is in terms of updates. Samsung has come a very long way now uh. In fact, all these new Samsung smartphones promise four years of android security update and in fact, I'm getting the regular updates on this one. In fact, the last update that was very big. It was a two gigabyte update, so we are getting updates almost monthly on these smartphones and also Samsung has promised three years of android updates.

So that way I would say now it has become something in the terms of UI and updates used to be very low. Now they have become at the top. In fact, even Google Pixel smartphones don't promise four years of android security update. So in terms of updates, I would say, they've done a very good job and in terms of UI, also uh. Apart from that ads, what I'm seeing one UI has become very, very responsive.

So, overall, I would say it's a very good smartphone and certainly, I would say in India as of now for this price point, you simply cannot get anything better from Samsung as of now. So, if you are that kind of audience, I would say this is a very practical smartphone uh, but it's not a very flashy smartphone. So, overall I like this phone and that's the best compliment I can give uh using it for almost two weeks. Nothing irritated me on that smartphone that I felt like removing my sync. That's the best compliment that I can give, but again you've got to decide if this smartphone is right for you or not, I, my job is just to present the pros and cons and I hope uh you like this video.

If you like this video and if you're still not subscribed to the YouTube channel hit that subscribe button, anyways guys, that's it for now take care catch. You later.
