Samsung Galaxy A71 5G - Months later, still no fix?

Hey, what's up guys welcome back to the techie family channel, I'm Lou running solo today, Koontz got us uh a little separated still, I know tough times. I hope everybody's staying safe. If you're new to the channel don't forget to hit that subscribe button get notified whenever we drop new videos. We appreciate you guys. Tuning in we've got something to talk about man. We got something to talk about so a few months ago I put out a quick unboxing video on a particular device.

The device was the Samsung Galaxy a71, but basically Samsung put out a device, the a71 5g in the US for 599.99, it's a good price for a good phone with 5g. So if you guys just give you a quick rundown of the specs up uh on the screen, but snapdragon 765 at six gigs of ram had 128 gigs of uh onboard storage had a 6.7 inch display, so it was a very good phone for a very good price. Obviously you didn't have a top of the line. Processor. You didn't have eight gigs of ram or 12 like some flagship devices.

You didn't have uh 4k resolution on the screen, but it was a good device, the screen's beautiful it's an AMOLED display. It runs smoothly. You can run some games on here, but the most important part having the phone is what the calls being able to make calls being able to receive calls. Now, since I got this phone back in June, it's been a few months. I've had issues, lots and lots of issues not with the phone, not with it playing video games, not with you watching the show or with the connectivity.

There were times when you would dial the number. The phone just wouldn't go, it wouldn't ring. It would go straight to voicemail on. On the other end, you would dial out and not get connected. Occasionally, if you were to surf the web, you'd have full bars on 4g, LTE or 5g, and it'll say you're offline.

It was a weird issue to have and like normal people, maybe it was a sim card issue. Maybe it was a network issue, so obviously went through the motions swapped out the sim everything you can think of under the sun. I tried, and it just was not it wasn't. It wasn't happening called the wireless carrier right pointed fingers, the other way, uh the other person pointing fingers. The other way we're not going to get into that.

You guys can look that stuff up yourself and see that there's a few people out there. When I say a few, I mean a lot that are having the same issues not being able to connect, and we just don't know what it is. So I chalked it up to it being a software, some type of software hardware miscommunication on this phone. Obviously that falls on Samsung, in my opinion, to maybe put out an update to fix it. But here we are September a few months later we're still having the same issues.

No calls dropped, calls can't make a call and the whole point of having the phone to be able to communicate with people. So I'm bringing you this review just because I was one of the unlucky folks that happened to have gotten one of these just rare. I wouldn't even call it rare because a lot of them out there, one of these phones that just has one of these software glitches, that nobody can figure out, there's just it's more of a headache than it is a benefit to having this device. For that reason, I decided to switch to a different phone, spend a few, a few bucks more a hundred dollars more got the OnePlus 8 5g, similar it's a little better in specs, but um it makes calls you can call in call out no problem, this specific device when I was researching because I was it- was baffling it was. It was baffling trying to figure out what was going on with this phone.

Why wasn't it making calls? I can receive calls it was on and off and when researching. Obviously, I found a lot more people with the same issue. The carrier has a compatibility checker for devices. If you were to bring them to that particular carrier and interesting enough, when you would put in the serial number of the IMEI into the compatibility checker, it would say it doesn't have the necessary components to run on that carrier, but it's being sold by that carrier um and then, when researching further those specific components, when somebody would run the specs or the software and hardware specs on the phone they were, it was incompatible. So there's something going on miscommunication between the carrier and the manufacturer where this phone for some people just does not have that solid connection where it's stable, you can make calls receive, calls send text messages, just not a reliable phone in this day and age.

You need. You need to be able to know that in case of an emergency, if you want to dial out to somebody, phone's got to be able to do it. That's what you got a phone for so for this. For this particular reason, um and like I said I was uh unfortunate in the particular device that I received. It is known out there's a few other people having the same issue.

I do know people that have the same phone that don't have the same issue, but do you want to take that chance? Is that a toss-up? Is that something that you're willing to risk? In my opinion, I wouldn't even bother. I'm just going to go ahead and on to the next one. Now they did, they did release an uh, smaller similar version to the a71, the a51 5g, which is a little less expensive, obviously not as big of a screen. I haven't heard any issues with that particular device. There's other options out there if you're looking for a 5g device.

Unfortunately this particular one is just not it for me. It really isn't it's not it for me. So if you're looking for something that's reliable with 5g, the a71 5g shouldn't be on that list, unless you're willing to take that chance to getting a bad device. If you want to go through grab it go through the return policy, bring it back, exchange it for the same one. Have the same problem have to go back to the store? Tell them hey it's the same problem.

Then they look at you like you're, crazy, like wait a minute, the phone's working here. They make a call, because it's connected to Wi-Fi you're good to go you just. Suddenly they send you home, you take it home, you miss the call. Somebody calls you your girlfriend's mad at you because you're not picking up the phone, then you have to go through breakups, and you go back to the retailer, be like yo uh. You cost me my relationship, they look at you even crazier, and they're like okay, a little all the legs exchange you for the same phone, and you go back, and you get the same problem, and you lost a girlfriend.

That's not cool! That's not cool, but anyways. Here's my take on it. You take it as you will. This is just my experience, my personal experience with this particular phone. Obviously I am switching this bad boy out.

We are going with a different device. We are not taking the chance in case. If of an emergency, we need to make a call. This is not reliable, so you take it out of this people. I warned you, but if you guys have the phone, you guys don't have any issues.

Let me know down in the comment section below: if you've had the phone had the same issue, I also want to hear from you uh what kind of experiences were you having um from what I'm getting its? It's uh it's a night and day so, while you're, either on one side of the fence or you're on the other, but until next time I appreciate you guys tuning in don't forget to follow us on social media.
