Pixel 3 XL Unbox and Impressions

What is going on everyone. My name is Jared and, as you can see, hope here is sniffing out a new box. In that new box we have Google's latest flagship, the pixel 3 X out now I wasn't doing it I planned on just getting the note, calling it a done deal, but my favorite phone last year, arguably was the pixel to excel in the iPhone 10. All right now, I do have the iPhone 10s max, which is right here and, to be honest, I want to try something different, especially from Google, because I had such a good time with it last time and I. Think honestly, now, at this point, I don't have enough invested into the Apple ecosystem to truly benefit, so Google store box hi there, just like Google Assistant. So this does have the availability to have project by you.

Get the project file little insert here that works on IOM technology, which means you don't actually need a real SIM card. It's digital! You sign in with your account alright you're sitting in the box, cool I, don't think you can fit in there hope stir. But let me move this out of the way real, quick. Sorry. We have the pixel 3 XL in Google white, so interesting thing.

I was reading today, while I'm putting stuff away the pixel 3 XL actually does have ECM technology allowed for all the carriers that support it. It just hasn't been activated. Yet what that means is just like the iPhone 10s max over here, which also has Easton, but a dual SIM functionality like some normal traditional dual SIM phones. This one means operators like T-Mobile and things like that. Once supported, they will also be able to scan in your SIM card and be able to use it sim free.

So that's kind of cool. A little tidbit of information. Last year's pixel to exile was sim free only for project 5. This one eventually will be for everything so clearly, white 64 gigs has a little Google holographic sticker. Now to know it's legit.

There was a big deal going on about having the best buy versions of the pixel 3 and pixel 3 XL not be unlocked, they're, actually carrier locked to Verizon, which they haven't done in a while. But of course, after that Verizon mentioned that they are going to make good on their deal and unlock anything that was Verizon branded at Best Buy. So here we have it clearly white. They had white black and kind of pink, which kind of look like a salmon color. So this is a device.

I! Don't leave this to the side just for right now we're gonna look at what is in the box. As always, we have all your information, the Google sim eject tool. Let's get started: do we get stickers this year, Oh out of the Playbook of Apple? We got a Google sticker I'm with it. I'll put that on my desk and what else we got this year. We also have headphones that are given in the box, which is nice, seeing that we don't have a headphone jack.

These look like, and I was reading reviews on them. They look like almost Pixel Buds. The way the ear shape is things like that they are USB type-c. So that's on the bottom. They do have an inline mic and volume controls, so I haven't tried them obviously, and I haven't heard it.

What if people like them or not, but I, shall soon see, so we're going to put these to the side, so I'm not gonna, use them right away. Of course, you have your USB type-c cable. You have your transfer tool for transferring data. You have your dongle, which of course was not found in the iPhone 10, that's a box, so there you go, they put that little dongle in there, and you also have last but not least, your quick charge. Bam there you go.

So that's! What's in the box, not too much different from last year. Besides the headphones, the addition of the phones, which, rightfully so I mean you're taking away the headphone jack at least you can do is put in something: that's not a compensation for that. So a free set of USB type-c headphones is not a bad idea and I appreciate it um. So let's get to what you really want to see the phone. So this year they did a glass sandwich as similar to last year's Samsung phones.

Last year's pixels actually were not glass packed. They were only the top part, so the panda part was glass and just the black part was glass. Now we have double glass, just like every other flagship in 2018, thus far, what that allows it to do is now we are looking at ip68 rated for water resistance, and we are also looking at wireless charging. The cool part about this is: is this back? Glass is one piece, even though it has that little sort of two-tone design- and this is a soft touch kind of like an if you ever had the silk white OnePlus one way back in the day. It's like that baby soft, but it's kind of fine, it's like a frosted glass I guess would be the best way to put it, and what that does mean is has some reviewers have noted is that you do tend to get scratches on this quicker and easier, like with keys coins, then say the top glass just because of this here, quoting now, reviewers, like Erica Griffin, said that some keys and coin scratches came off with a little of soap and water and some fine scrubbing with like a toothbrush or soft bristle brush, so take that into account.

But people like jury-rigged everything used razor blade, maybe a little harder of a tool and those scratches were permanent. So whether this acts as an abrasive or is just collecting the pieces of whatever scratches it inside this little tiny sort of I guess frosted coating. However, they did it I'm not sure, either way, if you're worried about scratches put a skin on it, put a case on it, keep it nice, keep it mint, keep it pristine the sides. You got this shiny coating this year. It is not the paint like last year that kind of just flaked off these feels what I would consider a way like a car paint.

So probably a powder comb paint probably makes it pretty resistant to durable to uh drops Nick's scoff, scratches things of that nature compared to just a normal sort of paint, and of course, I mean I have a skin on my iPhone. But this is just the stainless steel, rail and this I do believe is aluminum, so this feels lighter than the iPhone 10s max and on the front before you even turn it on. You got the robot smiley face notch now, people always of course, are hating on this notch and I will say it is rather large compared to say iPhone, but just to bring up serious. My music page iPhones is longer and not as deep I'll call it pixels as deeper and not as wide honestly, either way you're losing that screen space. The stuff you see up in the iPhone, nothing ever populates there anyway, and here nothing is ever going to populate either.

So personally, you know six one-half a dozen, the other to me. It really doesn't matter the notch is there, it just is what it is. Sides are equally thin I would say, as the outside bezel is for the iPhone and the bottom. Of course the pixel has somewhat of a chin due to that bottom stereo, speaker, so iPhone has the speaker down here and up in the earpiece. Pixel has one at the bottom in at the top.

To give you a little better, directed stereo sound, so there you go so off. The bat I saw this at Best Buy a little while ago, a few weeks ago, actually, and I got to touch it and hang on to it when they released it to really kind of decide. I like this way, I actually did purchase a skin already that's coming to do to two-tone panda and also to keep this frosted nice and protected in the future. So let me get this going. We're going to transfer some data, and we'll be right back, so I just want to show you guys something real, quick as I was doing.

This I'm trance bring data from my iPhone to my pixel and, what's nice? Are you can just do it so being that I had a USB to lightning I could do it without having to use the adapter? It's really easy to plug it in you make sure your iPhone is on your hit trust on it, like you would on a computer type in your passcode, basically you're good to go pixels gonna check for see what I can transfer is gonna also match up the apps that I have installed to see whether I have them on the Android platform, which most of them will be, and then you are good to go. You get to choose just like normal and honestly, that's it, so I'm gonna. Let this keep going, and I'll see you back when we're all done. Alright, everybody! We are back. We got the pixel three Excel set up.

Furthermore, we got it charging because it was running a little low here, and we're ready to rock. So obviously, first impressions hit the camera. I had installed Android Pi Android PE at the time on my piccolo to excel, so I had to experience. Some of these features beforehand before I obviously have seen it here, things that are a little different, obviously with Android P, all the things that you had thought about with Android PE. You know the menus, the icons, the navigational settings here, with a little dot down at the bottom Google Assistant.

Of course, there are things like spam screening with Google duplex, which is supposed to be rolling out pretty soon. You have Google Lens integrated into the camera, which is pretty cool, so you can go right here, save text. Yes, we can turn on the lens, we'll use that account. What can you do so? If I put this up here, it should be able to identify what is going on yep, so came up. Google 3xl was that it's probably gonna yeah, the Google tech company, and it pulled out the words Google Pixel three, so that's pretty cool, so it means you can use it for shopping things of that nature.

Let's see for an example, here's my Xbox One controller. Oh, let's see what we got here, move that out of the way, try that again looking for results pulled up the Xbox. So you know it's not obviously perfect. Obviously, that's a picture of a controller. Didn't necessarily do that.

Let's try it one more we'll do my pocketknife I came up with some different things: some skateboards and knives all right, not bad makes sense. So obviously, Google Lens is continually a work in progress. You have some nice new camera features, not necessarily new. You have your slo-mo video. Furthermore, you have your normal video, which can take 1080p at 60 frames, 30 frames and 4k, which is at 30.

Furthermore, you of course, have portrait mode all the depth effects on your normal camera. Furthermore, you have the motion photo which would be similar to whatever they call it on iPhone live photos. Furthermore, you of course, have portrait yeah of panorama, all the normal things that you would expect on the pixel through on the pixel phones, so everyone, of course raves on the pixel phones for the camera, for example. We're just going to do a couple photos here, a little portrait effect. So this was a pretty close.

The background is very close to the subject, so you're not going to see a huge depth difference from the table, but while I wasn't on the camera, I did take. A picture of myself, which you can see is a lot different, so the portrait came out really well edge. Detection was really great. It's not showing up awesome on the camera here, but, as you can see, when I switch to the other photos that border really worked out well also, the detail is also great, which is one thing. I love about the pixel series.

Phones, I, have always been blown away completely by the camera, and that is what kept me around with these phones so long when they lack a lot of other features for the same price, like with the note 9. So you get a lot of different features with the note 9 this one, you get a more I guess, I phony sense of features. Let me tell you the features, obviously work great. You do have your squeeze 4 assistant, I hadn't used it yet, so it's not set up, but you do have that Google feed is off to the left. You have nitrite, which is coming to the camera soon, which supposedly is going to blow everything out of the water when it comes to its night.

Photography rather than me and dark and dingy is gonna use, Google's software and brighten that image up like crazy, so I'm, very, very much looking forward to that and really other than that. You know the pixel phone is what I would probably say is one of the best Android phones at this time. Right now there is a lot of other phones that are going to be out like the Huawei Mate 20 pro like what else is coming out, one plus 60, all those phones' thing that always brings me back to pixel. More than anything else is its just overall, a user ability consistency. Its consistent updates like iPhone.

It's you know everything they do with this phone reminds me very much of how Apple handles their iPhone and personally to me. That is the value in it. I get the updates right away. The software stability is right there, the best no one does Android better than Google. In my opinion, that's really why I stick around with it.

You have your always-on display when you lock your phone, so really there's a lot of good things for the pixel and I, for one am a fan. I will continue to be a fan and really for now. I. Don't see the reason why this isn't the best Android phone out today might change in the future, but for right now, just like the pics, with two kept up with most 28 teen flagships. Of course, until the pixel 3 came out, the pixel 3 Excel is and probably will be, my favorite Android phone of 2018.

So that was my quick unboxing, not superfast, a little more in-depth things that I wanted to get into, but there it is, so I hope you enjoyed this video I will get back to my normal schedule now versus being all over the place, but anyway, thank you again for watching I really do appreciate it. My name is Jared, and we will see you all in the next video.
