OPPO Reno 5 Pro Plus - SD865 - 8GB/128GB - 50MP 4K UHD - 6.55" Amoled - 5G - 4500mAh

What is going on YouTube jay here from MJ tech. Today we got here the brand-new Oppo Renault 5 pro, plus that I waited almost a month to get it, and I ordered this. I think it was from Taiwan, but once again it came from eBay, so I got it for about 617 approximately and the pro plus comes in two different versions. You get the 12 gigs of ram with 256 gigs of internal storage, and then you have the other one, which is the one that I got here. This one has 8 gigs of ram and 128 gigs of internal storage. It has the snapdragon 865 with the arena 650, and it is a beast in terms of performance.

It has flagship specifications, but it doesn't have a flagship price tag. So that's something that I was looking forward to and the one that I got here is the moonlight black, and it comes in aurora blue as well, so that's very cool and, as you guys can tell here from the box, it's very simplistic. We have seen the Oppo Renault 3 that I reviewed about a year a little over a year. Now and the box was also very long like this one over here, so they haven't changed that style yet, and they are quite unique. If you guys ask me so let's go ahead and take a look inside the box and see exactly what we get now.

This one also supports 5g. Unfortunately, I tried it with my carrier Verizon, and it is not working, so I'm assuming that it doesn't support Verizon and inside here what we have a little divider so far. I believe these are also holding the manual. So, yes, we have like a little quick start guide, and it comes in Chinese as this is not the international version. This is the Chinese version of the Oppo Renault 5 pro plus.

So here we have the device again. This is the moonlight black color, as you guys can tell, and it has an on-screen fingerprint. This thing has a 4500 million battery and I believe that this plays at 1080p, and it is an AMOLED panel. It is 6.55 inches I'll, be talking more about the specs of the device in just a second. So here we have the second divider and nice by Oppo they decided to include a case and get here the little sim ejector tool.

We have the USB c cable with some earphones, and then we get the super book charger. I believe this is a 25 watt charger. I am reading the specifications right now and this is a 25 watt, brick. So it does charge quite fast and that's what we get here for the accessories inside the box. I'm going to go ahead and check that case in just a second.

So let's go ahead and set this aside for now and let's go ahead and take a look here at the phone itself. Yes, I already took it out of the wrapping. I was very careful because I wanted to give you guys that unboxing experience, so here we have once again the phone, and I've been using this since February.10Th today is currently February 27th, and here we have the phone. I have to say the back looks super gorgeous, and it's very nice and drippy, and this texture doesn't uh give you know a lot of fingerprints, as you guys can tell right here. It is not a fingerprint magnet whatsoever, and so on the side of the phone we have the volume rockers up and down with uh the metal frame.

Yes, this is made of metal on the right side. We get the power button then towards the bottom. Here is where we have the USB c port. We get the sim tray with the main microphone and also the loudspeaker. This phone has sterile speakers, so you get one on the top and one on the bottom as well.

So here again we have that 6.55 inch display it has 402 PPI. It has HDR plus as well, and it is Emily, like I said before, and it is curved as well along here with the 32 megapixel camera and on the back side. Here we have a quad camera setup. We have a 50, megapixel wide angle lens. Then we have a 16 megapixel, ultra-wide angle, lens with a 13, megapixel, telephoto lens and finally, a 2 megapixel, macro lens and all in combination.

You guys can imagine this thing works, absolutely perfect when it comes to the camera, and then we get a dual led flash right here, and it has AI technology as well, so it is able to identify objects and whatnot. So this is again a very, very cool little phone right here, especially at this price point. I think that Oppo nailed it and I do like the design it feels very nice in the hand. I believe this is a 21x9 aspect, ratio device. So again it feels very nice, and this one is running on android 11, and it has a very nice uh software.

Also, I'm going to confirm that with you guys here in just a second, I do know that it comes with eight gigs of ram and 120 gigs of internal storage. You have um, I don't think it has an expansion here for the memory. Let's go ahead and check that right now, so you have the two variants that you can get uh with. This particular one which is the 128 or the 256. So let's go ahead here and briefly confirm if we can insert a TF card, and we do not have the option for TF card just like I suspected, we do have a little rubber right there that uh, it's kind of like sealing the phone from getting water inside.

So that's uh. You know kind of cool. So let's go ahead and get this back on here. So again, dual send device. It doesn't have the option uh to do a TF card.

So just keep that in mind and as we can tell here guys, I have downloaded already a couple of applications and let's go ahead and take out this case real quick. So that way you can see how it looks now. The case I would say it is more like a know, temporary thing, so you can protect it today and not having to worry about. You know the phone uh, you know being dropped and you breaking it, but it is not a super protective case. I would definitely recommend that you guys uh, you know eventually get your own uh.

You know case uh with much better qualities, so at least you guys can see that it came with one so again just for a few days it should be okay, and here we can also notice I'm going to try to close this here, real quick. We have uh the curve display right there. I'm going to try to focus this right now, and so there we go. So we have a curved display here on this device and a lot of you guys like that. Many people do not like that me personally.

I think it looks cool, and it's very you know comfortable to hold in the hand as well, and I haven't pressed anything by accident having a curved display. Just keep that in mind and on the side. Here we have like a quick toggle where we can access certain application. It has an on-screen recorder, let's check here, all the toggles available. It does have NFC, and here we can see pretty much the same thing that we saw there from the quick, toggle um little swipe thing that we have here on the right side.

Furthermore, it is almost about the same as we get here from the very top, so the brightness um, it's actually, you know a pretty bright device. Furthermore, it is suspected from an AMOLED panel uh, it has a 4500 William battery and thanks to the fast charger you're able to get, you know sufficient charge for the whole day. I would say you know: 60 will take you to the whole day, and it takes about, I would say, like an hour 10 minutes to charge from zero to 100 and yes, the battery did last at a long time from the use that I got you know from this device. I wasn't you know worried at all about not going throughout. You know the whole entire day.

Now something I did mention before is that I didn't have my Verizon sim card on here. Instead, I had a prepaid, um ATT, sim card that I used for a few days and I had limited data, so I wasn't able to really get into the know video side of it and really use it. The same way, I use my iPhone 12 Pro max, but the battery did last. I would say, even if I was doing those things, it would still last the entire day, so I didn't have anything to worry about now. The only major disappointment that I have with the battery or the battery system on this device is that it doesn't support wireless charging.

Yes, that's a big bummer, especially since the back. Well, it is made of glass. It is supposed to really support wireless charging, but with the Oppo Renault 5 pro plus, we are not getting that support. So let's go here into the system like I said before, we have android 11, but I want to show you here the uh color OS version. It is the 11.1 as well so here we can see the snapdragon 865. Then we have the eight gigs of internal uh ram, like I mentioned before, and so on and so forth.

So here we have again all the information and I did perform just for demonstration purposes. The intuitive benchmark- and you guys will agree with me that it really blew my mind when I saw the score. Look at that guys, almost 700 000. , that's a big, big score. If you ask me, I mean I've never seen anything like it.

I have tested many mid-range devices, many flagship devices, and I never got a score of this magnitude with any device out there. So there we have it for the score on the intuitive benchmark, and then here we have the geek bench 5 as well. If we go here into history- and we checked the last one that I just performed, it gave me a single core 902 multi-core 3091, which again is really impressive, and it is suspected with a snapdragon 865, but I'm not sure if they boosted the system to work a little better or in performance mode, as we would call it, because again, that score is just absolutely phenomenal. So when it comes here to the Google apps, it didn't have them. Unfortunately, the seller, when I bought it, they installed the play store, so I haven't restored it yet, but I will figure it out if I do restore it, how to get it back on here, and I will provide a video, let me know down below if you guys would like to know so.

For that reason, um you will have to download it or ask your seller if they can do it for you, like, I did just to be in the safe side. Now, there's a lot of Chinese stuff on here. So, for example, if you go to the app market, you will find that there's a bunch of stuff on here. That really you know we can't read, even though it has been translated, all the apps on here or not for the US market or international market, as I would like to call it, so it is dedicated for the Chinese market uh. So maybe again in the future, we can get either a software update or something that we can do or flash to the device so that we can get uh.

You know the proper apps on here, but other than that I was able to download applications very nicely, and I didn't have an issue whatsoever. So now here we have the camera, and this is a very important subject when it comes to the camera. This thing just blew everything out of the way in terms of well. Yes, there's a lot of competition out there. We have flagship devices from Samsung, we have Nokia, we have even the iPhone, and they all have excellent cameras.

But this one really blew everything in terms of pricing versus the performance. I think that for less than a thousand dollars six hundred dollars approximately, and you're getting such a good camera. Now the seller that I got it from they're, not providing the official price. This thing could be even less. It could be, maybe in the 500s it could be easily competing with the Poco phones out there that we have seen that offer tremendous specifications, but this camera here guys is really, really good.

First, we have Zoom options up to five times zoom, and here we can see the ultra-wide angle lens right there, and this is the 16 megapixel ultra-wide, and it does its job quite well. Then, of course we got portrait mode on here, and it does have AI technology, so it will detect the object that you're trying to shoot in this case. Well, I was trying to shoot a person before so for right now. It is not really reading the boxes as being boxes, but let's try the can right here, and I just want to shoot this picture. So you can see how nice it looks, and it's telling me right there to move further away, and so I'm going to shoot that picture right now, and I think it's processing it does take a second like many other devices, but here you guys can see how great it looks and the focus I mean.

The quality of the picture on this thing is just absolutely phenomenal. Has very nice deep tones and also the focus is super, super quick here we have the more option where we can go into pro mode, slo-mo. We can do a dual video view where the front camera is activated. At the same time, let me see if I can show you that right now, so there we can see, you have a split screen on the top. You have the front facing camera, which is the 32 megapixel and on the bottom side here we have the rearview camera which again it is super, super cool.

So let me turn off here. Uh dual view- and here you guys can see- we have the macro lens. Also, this one is like for super, super close pictures. Let's go ahead and take a picture right here, and I'm going to show you this. You can see the little pores of the can.

I mean this 2 megapixel macro lens. Does this job quite well now keep in mind that this is mainly competing with flagship devices, in my opinion, so I'm used to those micro lenses from mid-range devices, and this one, like I said, is doing a tremendous job, so there we have it for the macro option and then, of course, here we have videos, you can do 4k at 60 frames per second, it doesn't support um image stabilization at 4k, 60 frames per second- for that you have to go at 1080p, but it does have image stabilization, and it is optical as well as electronic. So when it comes to the video performance, it does a very, very good job. As a matter of fact up here you can see we have this little toggle for image stabilization, and then you have the ultra steady, and then you have the ultra steady pro, so the pro is kind of like using the optical image stabilization and, as you guys can observe on this video that I took walking around it was on ultra steady pro, and it did again a phenomenal job. As I was walking, everything was super stable.

So yes, it definitely has that optical image stabilization that I've been mentioning for a very long time that budget phones should include um. So again, this one is not really into the 100 budget line, but the price is very close and I have to say that the camera is quite impressive, as you guys have seen. So, of course, here we have the front-facing camera. It does look a little cloudy, but the lens is currently clean. I can see it so it does have uh.

You know, beauty mode. You got photos, you can do portrait with the front facing camera as well, and it does a very good job. Furthermore, you can record at 1080p 60 frames per second and that's the max we can do. We don't have 4k recording as of right now, but you know it does have wide angle as well, and we even have a night mode on here for the selfie camera as well. So, as you guys can see, this thing is packed with a bunch of features.

We can change here, the aspect ratio. We have four three one, one full or 16 by nine, which is what I have it right now and of course, when you change this on the very top, it's going to affect the resolution of the picture, but my favorite is 16x9, as I can view everything in a full screen. So again, when it comes to the camera, I don't have any regrets, there's very, very minimal complaints that I have about it. If any that I can think of right now, I can't even come up with one but again. The camera is very, very good here on the Oppo Renault 5 pro plus another great aspect here about the Oppo Renault 5 pro plus.

It has to do here with the speakers again like I said before it has stereo speakers so when it comes to that, I'm going to go ahead and open here, my own channel, and I'm going to play one of my latest videos, which is about the Moto G stylus. So that way you guys can listen to this and just give me your opinion. So here we go three two one and let's say no thanks there we go hey what is going on YouTube Dave here from MJ tech. Today we're going to be checking out here, the brand new Moto G stylus that I got from Amazon with the prime service, and this is the 2021 model- do not confuse it with the previous year model, which was a 6.4 inch display. This one carries a 6.8 inch display and, of course, much better specs in terms of camera, in terms of display not just being bigger, but also looking better, and we have a 4000. So, as you guys can hear, the quality of the speakers are great, if not excellent, and even if you accidentally uh, put a finger, let's say on the bottom side: you can still listen to the other one.

It's not going to be really stereo, but you guys get the point where it's not just going to muffle down completely. If you accidentally cover one of the speakers and that's something that I truly love about. Stereo speakers, in my opinion, I think is, is something that should be mandatory for every phone nowadays in 2021. But I am very glad that again, Oppo decided to include it here with the five pro plus and all the fives out there that they released uh, at least in late 2020, which again is definitely a plus now. Another thing that I want to mention here about the Oppo Renault 5 pro plus it has to do with the performance of games.

I didn't have any issues. We know that snapdragon 865 is a high performing CPU, and we have seen it on many flagship devices. It does perform well as suspected. So in this case, I use pro 9 and the graphics are amazing. Thanks to this HDR 10 plus display that we have, it does have 402 PPI, which is not the highest that we have seen, and the resolution is also not the highest, which is a 1080p resolution, but we do have a 90 hertz displays, and also it does have 90 hertz refresh rate.

So when you're playing- let's say certain videos or even certain games, it's going to give you that very nice small feel to it, because again we have a 90 hertz display. So, yes, we do have some downsides on the display, but we also have the upsides of it and having a 1080p display. You guys can agree that that will save on battery. As I mentioned before, the battery is working very well, and so on that aspect I don't have any complaints. I think that 1080p is still good on this particular device.

And yes, then we have things like the connectivity when I tested on the prepaid, 18t sim card that I mentioned before, everything was working, fine and also the Wi-Fi here reception. Everything is working great and the reason I'm mentioning this is that this is not an official international release yet, and a lot of you guys would like to know if there are any bugs or any issues and no there's currently no bugs or issues with this particular phone. Everything is very smooth and, like I said guys, it is just a very pleasant phone to work with the only things that I wish is that, first, the software changed to the international version, like I said before, where we can have all the Google apps and not the Chinese stuff on here that I can't read, and that will second that maybe they included wireless charging that would have made this device absolutely perfect. As a matter of fact, I would have made it my primary phone without questions. Another thing that I would like to mention here about the Opel Renault 5 pro plus it has to do here with the fingerprint and the face recognition.

First, let's try here the face recognition and I do have to lift it a little there we go and that's because we have the camera. Of course, in front of me- and yes, it is quite fast as well, so there we go. I got it to work a little faster now I just got to lift it a little. Unfortunately, you can't see it on the camera, but it's almost instant and then, if I move the phone here to one side, you can see that the on-screen fingerprint is also doing a good job. So again, this is working perfect, and it is expected.

So let's try here the other thumb that I recorded the same thing here instant, and you can do it even if the display stays asleep, you simply tap on it, and it also unlocks very quickly. Color OS also has many interesting features that I like, for example, if you pinch and kind of like minimize it towards the middle side, it gives you all these options right here. You got the layout options. If we go to the side, we can change uh, of course, the widgets, the transition, and here let's say right now: I have it on default, which looks like this, but we can put it on roll. We have the cube and a lot of android devices out there.

Don't have this customization unless you root it, but now here with color OS, this is actually something by default. So there we go so now, let's go here into, let's say the layouts, and we can change all the columns that we have or the rows. So let's say we change the rows to five rows. Instead, you can see how it changes very quickly. We got the columns, we can do no less than two okay.

So let's leave it on default for now, so there we have it for the layout. Then we got the icons. Of course, you can change the icons as well as you guys can tell here. We have the app name I like to keep it by default and then the icons we can make them big or small. I like them right about there not too, not the biggest, but not the smallest right about there, and here we can see we can change the material style uh.

We can go to pebble, or we can even customize it. So these are things that I like about. Color OS uh that we don't see every day and uh. You know again unless you're rooted, or you know, your phone is uh, it has a different software, but with color OS you can do this right off the bat without having to hack your phone. So with this being said guys, I think that now we have completed here, the unboxing and the semi review of the Oppo Renault 5 pro plus.

Let me know down below if you guys want any specifics about this phone, I have to say that it's definitely worth it except the two issues that I mentioned, which is no wireless charging, and also we don't get um. You know the Google apps, so you have to download that yourself other than that it is a very good performing phone very pleasant to use. I love the display. I like the design, I like the camera and overall, it's a very good device with this being said, thank you for watching subscribe for more click on that bell icon, so you don't miss content in the future. Thank you for watching, and I'll see you guys on my next one.
