Hey guys and gals anybody here, and today I have a new phone to unbox and what I've chosen here is the Motorola edge. Now this is right, as this phone is launching, so the promotion was that if you pre-ordered it, you got it for 4.99 versus the normal price of 6.99, so pretty good savings there for sure. So that being said, I went ahead and went for it um now I remember when the Motorola edge plus came out a few months ago. I think it was that phone looked pretty sweet, but I believe it was a Verizon exclusive, so that didn't work out for me since I don't have Verizon and not only that, but it was a pretty expensively priced phone. I'm thinking maybe 900 000 bucks. Something like that.
So I really just didn't want to spend that much. So when I saw this phone coming out, you know it was the perfect solution for me uh, because it's unlocked- and you know it's more in line with what I wanted to spend so uh, I'm pretty pumped for this phone uh, the specs look pretty good. Now it does have the new snapdragon 765 processor uh, which is 5g capable. So this is my first 5g phone actually now the phone does have a pretty deep curved display from what I've been able to tell about the phone. Now, generally speaking, I don't care for curved display phones, uh.
However, I believe this phone does have software capabilities to kind of turn off or minimize the uh, the curves uh. What displays on the curves you know and whatnot, so I'm I'm pretty hopeful that uh it'll be a good experience despite the'll uh grab the scissors here and get cutting away so anyway, I'm hoping that the software solution for the curve displays will be kind of a know, best of both world solution and having a display that can act, sort as a flat display, but one also, that is curved, obviously and gets the benefits from the curve. So we'll see here how that goes. But you know we'll see how this goes. It's been a long time since I've had a Motorola phone, I'm trying to remember the last time I had one um.
I want to say it was maybe five six years ago, we're currently here in the summer of 2020, so it's been a long time, but what I recall about Motorola phones is that they're pretty good phones, it's just that I've been interested in so many other phones. I just haven't, got around to getting a Motorola okay, so I've got the seal broken here, and I'm going to unbox this um. So what we're dealing with here, uh this phone's supposed to have a 6.7 inch display with obviously curved glass on the sides. Now this is the black color of the phone. That's the only option they had for the pre-order.
If I remember correctly, so, let's go ahead and open this one up and see what we got going on here. So we do have a smoked case here. This looks pretty nice um. I do like how we have the vertical camera here. I think that looks pretty good.
It looks like the edges must be pretty pronounced here because it looks like this case offers a lot of room for them. Okay, here's the phone; okay, so it looks pretty good here. You know nice and shiny um kind of has some type of uh aurora effect here with the different colors on the reflection, looks like we have a triple camera set up here. I think the bottom lens is. There are sensors, at least that's what it looks like here.
I like that, it's nice and thin here, um, you know it's then feeling I think this is going to be really easy. For one-handed usage looks like these edges kind of go pretty uh far over to the sides and then drop suddenly. I definitely prefer this approach over. You know more rounded curves that go more into the two the phone. We do have a headphone jack here, so that's really cool um.
You just don't see that much anymore. Here in 2020 it looks like a nice premium phone here, nice solid, build, it looks pretty good. Um looks like we got a single volume rocker here and then the power button, so definitely not bad. Okay, that's just the books. We do have a fast charger here.
I can't tell how good this one is, but it looks like it'll be a pretty good one, because it's pretty thick there. Now we have an USB type c cable here, you know pretty standard. So that's what you get in the box. Um. There are no headphones, even though the phone does have the headphone jack.
So that's something to keep in mind, but pretty basic affair. Here you know case with the charger um, so definitely not bad. Okay, so I'm going to have to hold off I'm putting the sim card in because my sim card's actually in the phone I'm using to film this video, which is the OnePlus 7t, so I'll go ahead and fire it up here. You know, so we can get a look at what the screen looks like um. Looking at the edges here, it looks like they go down pretty far into the side of the phone, maybe almost halfway so pretty pronounced for sure.
Now they don't appear to be quite as curved, or you know rounded, into the phone as say my OnePlus 7 pro was the OnePlus 7 pro had a more subtle curve, so the curve you know kind of seemed bigger on that phone. So I think, with this phone you definitely have more flat area, so I like that for sure, so I will go through the setup here and get everything in order. Okay guys, so I just got to the desktop here and everything's installing that I told it to so. Just getting everything set up here, it'll probably take a little while okay, so I can definitely see the 90 hertz display here right off the bat. It feels really smooth just feels perfect here so yeah I mean this looks like it's going to be a pretty fun experience um.
It's definitely different from anything I'm used to because I haven't had a Motorola for a long time, so I will use this phone for a while, and then I will do some videos on it, and we'll kind of see where it stands, but this should definitely be interesting guys. I hope you enjoyed the video, as always, if you're enjoying my videos be sure to subscribe to the channel and then hitting that thumbs up. Button helps as well, but for now guys peace out.
