iPhone 12 Pro Max vs iPhone 11 Pro Max - Is it an upgrade? (Camera comparison too!)

So here we go again the age-old question: does it make sense to upgrade from the previous generation iPhone 11 Pro max to the current generation of iPhone 12 Pro max, and you know what apple is all about marketing you see nice, graphics, nice charts double this double that double of what well that's what we're going to find out today, I sent tony out to do the fun bits and do the camera test, and I stayed inside to do the nitty-gritty bits in the basement. What I can tell you, though, is that the results are not as expected, and this is a current theme currently, okay, guys. Let's do this. I have the iPhone 12 Pro max right here. On the left hand, side in pacific blue, the previous version, 11 promo, on the right inside in the gold color, both versions, 256 gigabytes, amount of thousand dollars here, depending on where you shop around twelve hundred dollars for the new version. These are the boxes.

This is what you get when you pay for your iPhone. You can see. The new version is basically half of the version you have last year. We know the charging pack is not included. However, I wanted to show you guys quickly what comes in the box when you basically buy either of these versions.

Here the iPhones. You have the phones itself, I'm going to take them out very quickly to show you guys. You have documentation here on the 11 port from last year. Furthermore, you also get your headphones in here. Your cable use, pc2, lightning, and then you're charging brake all in here right.

That's why the box is so big, and then you have your phone. Let me just move this: the 12 pro mix. However, you do have some documentation, you don't have any headphones in here, not happening, but you do have a cable, and you will have to buy a charging brake, an USB charging brake or the new mac safe charger, and that will cost you additional money around 50 to 60 bucks, depending on what you go for. You may have something at home that works, so that really depends on what you got and what you don't have. I wanted to briefly touch on the design and build quality for both phones here on the right inside previous version.

Both have glass installed on the bike, and they have stainless steel on the side like stainless steel buns. The difference here really is the way that it's been engineered. It is more of a boxy design for the new version. You can see this here hopefully, and the older version is a rounded edge design, and I'm a fan of that boxer design. Here I do like that a lot, and let me just go in the front here.

You can see basically the screen sizes I'm going to open up some other clay applications for you to really judge. If the screen is bigger or not in terms of the build quality, you have a ceramic shield on a new version. That's supposedly four times stronger than the previous version. I didn't do a drop test. There are YouTube channels who do that.

So let me open some applications for you to show, and I've chosen the photo applications there's some random applications. You would use um in order on every day right, and you can see on the left hand, side the 12 pro marks. It is slightly larger and wider and taller, and the writing on the top is also bigger. You can see that let me go to different applications here, the app store, for example. You can also see that here's a difference on the left hand, side, the new version that is wider, and it is taller a couple of more applications.

I have chosen. One is YouTube. For example, let's just look at a video here: let's just skip the advert and on the bottom you have the 12 pro maxi new version you can see. It is slightly bigger. The screen is slightly bigger, but is it enough to warrant that extra money or an upgrade from a previous version or basically depending on if you want to go for a new phone? Is that something you really uh want to go for and there's one more application? I wanted to show you like what you use on the daily uh usage, and that is mail right.

I'm going to open up a mail spam mail. We got here, basically, you can see on the left hand, side again. This is the 12 pro and I'm sorry. I couldn't adjust the green, the screen brightness here, but it is taller and wider, and you have more screen real estate for the 12 posts slightly, but it is noticeable so in terms of geek bench results, they are obviously different. They are faster on the new version here on the 12 pro versus the 11 pro, but you know what in daily life and daily use it, you can't tell the difference.

I have the regular version of the 12-pole and I can't tell the difference whatsoever, but I guess for a certain task. It is possible to have faster rendering or, if you're, into pro video and editing on your phone. That will probably help in terms of speed. So what about weight? What's the weight difference for both ones? So I'm going to put the 11 pro on. That tells me two to three gram in weight.

When I put the new version on, let me see what it says here, two to five. So it's really it's kind of the same. It has a bigger real estate. Um apple made sure that components are probably lighter, as I don't know what I've done a smaller battery in here, it's pretty much the same weight, but let's find out outside I sent tony outside for a camera comparison, which is also very important, because that's the first time that the 12 pro Maxwell a max phone, or it's the first time in a long time that the 12 max or max phone has better cameras than the regular version of a pro phone. I have the iPhone 11 max.

In my left hand, the iPhone 12 in my max in my right hand, and we are checking out how that selfie camera is, is super sunny today. Let's have some sun behind me, see how they both manage it totally different. You see that I'm going to be interested. What I sound like, whether I sound better on one or the other. Let's do another turn.

Wow, definitely see a difference. iPhone 12 max zooming in on the twelfth night and zooming out on the 12 maxi phone 11 max zooming in on the iPhone 11 max zooming out. Don't believe me iPhone 11 max whoops, iPhone 11 max, in my left hand, iPhone 12 max in my right hand, and honestly, I can see a difference just using them when they are side by side. It actually looks smokier already on the 11 max. I'm surprised on a sunny day how much better on face value the iPhone 12 max is.

I was not expecting anything. I would also say that when you are taking photos that the focus is slightly different from both of them and also coloring, okay, while I'm looking at this now coloring looks way different on both I actually see on the year 11 max, I actually see more sky with the blue and the clouds, whereas the 12 looks more ducted looks better in that angle with no sunlight behind us, so I already see differences between them before we've even downloaded the images. So a couple of things, I really noticed right away. Number one is the selfie camera of the 12-pole one that is so much better than the selfie camera of the 11 pro the sunshine. In the background of tony the way it handled, it was really, really good and cool.

Number two is the microphone. The microphone on the 12 ball is really top-notch compared to the 11 pro 10. So there's some increase. I wasn't aware of, and I couldn't remember seeing that in the apple or on the hourly event and the design obviously is subjective. I like it, is it worth the for the money right? Is it worth upgrading and paying that money? And that's something really you need to decide, but the best way to describe it.

I can give you that guidance is if you, if it is your only device right, you don't have another camera or anything else. Then this may be a good choice right, maybe you don't have an iPhone yet, or you come from an older generation, then this will probably be the best iPhone you ever had. However, we have a YouTube channel and the way I would describe it for us for our needs. If we wouldn't have this channel, I probably would stick with the 11 pro max. So thank you for watching.

In the end, of course, tony she had a fun bit outside today. Thank you for watching peace out.
