Google Pixel Buying Guide - which Pixel should you buy?

The pixel for and for Excel have officially been announced, but just because they're, the latest and greatest from Google doesn't necessarily mean that they're, the ones most worth buying, and so today we're going to be looking at every single pixel phone and determining which one is the best for you: hey how's it going I'm Josh from ninety-one tech and welcome to my Google Pixel buying guide I'm, not going to take up too much of your time here. I'm assuming going into this, that you want a Google Pixel I'm not going to be comparing these phones to other phones, for example, I'm not going to be recommending another Android phone over them or an iPhone over them. I'm. Just going to assume you want a Google Pixel phone and that's totally fair. But with that, let's start at the top here with the pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, the pixel 4 and 4 XL drops the notch from the three XL, while improving basic specs like speed up to 6 gigs of ram from 4 and, of course, adding in extra telephoto camera lens now. I think most of us would agree a two time: Zoom isn't as useful as a wide-angle lens, but it's better than just one camera, and we do have it here.

Of course, we do lose out on the wide-angle selfie camera from the pixel 3, so it is kind of a win-lose situation, there's no fingerprint sensor, but instead a face on lock, which is interesting. The refresh rate on the screen has gotten a pretty great improvement at 90 Hertz, as opposed to 60, so everything you do is going to feel that much smoother and more refined, which is really nice to see. Overall, though, the phone isn't that much more impressive than the 3 or 3 Excel. In my opinion, even if you prefer the newer design, it's got a better display and of course the cameras are going to be better, but it might not be worth the price jump over buying a pixel 3 or even the 3a. The pixel 4 starts at $799, with only 64 gigabytes.

I would say, that's a bit overpriced for what you get, which is why I would probably recommend going for one of the older pixels. Now that they're getting cheaper, this brings us to the Pixel 3a if we're going by release date. But I'll come back to that one. After we talked about the pixel 3 and 3 XL, the three and three XL worth without their controversy, the three was fine, but the three XL had that ridiculous notch, and it was justifiably made fun of to no end. It is something you get used to.

Yes, it's a terrible design choice, but if you use the three XL for a while you'll, eventually stop caring about it. The pixel three and three XL may have a leg up over the four in a few ways: the ultra-wide selfie cam. If that's something you want for it both front firing speakers which are pretty darn good, a very fast, a fingerprint sensor. If that's something you would prefer over face ID or what is essentially face. I'd and best of all the pixel three and three excel are now quite a bit cheaper.

The smaller one starts at $4.99 and the bigger three excel starts at $5.99. Honestly I would buy these over the pixel for right now, they're, significantly cheaper and not a lot. Worse, that's just my two cents, but now, let's go over the Pixel 3a. The 3a and three AXL were released in mid 2019 as mid-range cheaper options to the three and three XL. While they might be plastic and our overall cheaper.

They also have the same camera as the pixel 3, as well as the headphone jack. That said, they are lower SPENT and do of course, feel cheaper plus they actually aren't at that much less money with the smaller 3a starting at 399 and the XL starting at 479. Again, the pixel 3 starts at $4.99, so 400 bucks more. You get the better phone. If you want to save money, you're not losing that much with the Pixel 3a, and you get the same good camera, but I do think it's worth a bit more just to get the better model.

And now we come to the 2017, pixel, 2 and pixel to excel the pixel.2 was launched mostly pretty positively and still had large bezels, but that was ok because it was the cheaper option to the 2 XL, a phone that wasn't without its controversy. As his pixel tradition, the pixel to excel screen isn't good, it's good on paper, but in practice it has a pretty gnarly blue tint to it that's kind of hard to get around. However, you can get used to it, and I've heard it's gotten better with time and software updates, and when you take pricing into account, it might be worth the drawbacks. The pixel to excel camera is still perfect, and while it isn't as good as the 3 or 4, it can take really nice photos which I'm mentioning because you can find the to excel for around 200 bucks used or refurbished on ebay. com personally I think that's a killer deal and definitely one looking into if you're hoping to save some money.

I would not buy these smaller pixel two anymore. They aren't as common, and they don't look nearly as modern. But if you find one for a killer deal, I wouldn't blame you for picking it up. The pixel to Excel is a surprisingly great choice right now, and I'd say that you're looking at another year or two of Android support I'd be shocked if it didn't get Android 11 next year, as it runs 10 pretty well, but there are no guarantees of that. And last but not least, we have the first pixel and pixel excel.

Both these phones came out in late sixteen and were pretty typical for the time big bezels aluminum, pretty basic OLED display and so on. They still retain the headphone jack and were praised for their camera. It was one of the best at the time, and it could produce a some really top-notch photos. This isn't as much the case anymore, but it can take good photos and I have to say I, really like this phone and its overall value right now, it was made in a beautiful blue color, which I wish Google would bring back now. The best thing about it is that you can find it for like a hundred bucks on eBay com, 100 bucks for a phone that already has Android 10.

That's right. The newly released $1,000 Galaxy Note 10 is still running Android 9, while the hundred dollar original pixel already has the update. That's the benefit of getting the phone straight from Google. You actually get updates. The pixel will probably won't get Android 11, but you're still looking at least another year of support for a hundred bucks.

This is one of the best budget, smartphones, you can buy used. In my opinion, it's a really, really good deal just watch out for screen burning. These first pixels tend to suffer from it pretty bad, and so I'd try to make sure you get one without it. But this brings us to the end. We've talked about all five pixel lines from the first pixel to the pixel two to the pixel 3 to the pixel 3 a to the pixel 4, so which one should you actually buy if you want the best of the best in Google phones, the pixel 4 is the obvious choice.

It's expensive and probably overpriced in my opinion. But if you disagree with me or have the money and don't really care, it's going to be a really great phone with a really great camera, even if it isn't the giant upgrade over the pixel 3 that we were hoping for and for the record I think the smaller pixel 3 is also a great buy right now for $500 new. It's not that much more than the 3a and gives you an awesome camera with. Personally my favorite pixel design they've made if you're, ok with going used or refurbished I would get the pixel to excel. It still has 4 gigabytes of RAM a great camera and only cost around 200 bucks one bay comm.

That's a price that's hard to beat on the used smartphone market, especially with Android 10. If you're on a really tight budget, the first pixel Excel is pretty much a no-brainer 100 bucks for a phone that can run Android 10 is insanely good value, and although the phone has a bit of an older design, it's held up mostly well and can absolutely be a great phone even three years later. Overall I do think the pixel to Excel is the best value right now, if you're, ok, with buying used or refurbished 200 bucks, that's insanely good for a smartphone, and it isn't much worse than the pixel 3 or even 4. In all honesty, if you're buying new, the smaller pixel three I think is a great pickup and the three hundred bucks you'll save from not getting the four is probably worth it. Here's the thing, Google pixels, do not retain their value.

I'm, not completely sure why this is in all honesty, but the fact that you can already find a pixel to excel for 200 bucks should show how quickly prices get dropped. I would never buy the Google Pixel brand new. Simply because again they don't hold their value, especially in comparison to say, iPhones I, think used or refurbished is the way to go here. If you can get a good deal on contract, that's definitely worth considering, but if you're wanting the best bang for your buck, eBay or Craigslist or etc. , is really your best answer.

You can get the latest Android experience at a fraction of the cost of most smartphones nowadays and again. The benefit of a Google phone is that you'll actually be using Android 10, unlike most Android phones, shipping right now and with that I'm pretty much done here.
