Google Pixel 4 Unboxing & Side By Side Comparison with Pixel 2 XL | Tech Blokes

Get out guys look here from tech blogs in today's video, we are checking out the brand-new Google Pixel for I'm really excited to check this device out when I have seen all the leaks and all the information coming out, there was a really cool new functionality that I was looking forward to now. I've actually been using the Google to excel the Google Pixel to excel. For a couple of months now and extensively testing, Android, 10, and I'll have to say: I really do love it. It has become my favorite device. The image quality and the camera quality that comes out of the pixel devices is second to none. I really do love these phones, so what we're going to do we're going to unbox it, and then we're going to go through some new features.

I want to check out this new ability to swipe between songs the new face unlock. This doesn't have a fingerprint scanner anymore. So apparently it's super quick, and it will even unlock when your eyes are closed. So let's unbox it, and we'll check out what we'd get in this new Google Pixel. For now this is just the standard device.

It's not the XL version and I can tell you just by looking at it. It's a perfect size in the hand. So there we go there. Let's get this wrapper off now. Obviously this is the black version of the phone, and it's a bit weird, because on all the other devices that Google released this year, they came with a frosted back and I actually really liked the frosted back I, don't know why they went with a kind of glass back on this black one, and you've obviously got the white power button on this one as well.

So there we go guys, it's a really nice size in the hand when I compare it side-by-side with my Google Pixel to XL it's uh yeah. Obviously you know it's a little smaller, but it'll definitely make typing one-handed a lot easier. So let's have a look. What else is in the box? And obviously there are some changes this year, Google didn't bring any headphones to this device and essentially that's kind of an Apple move in my opinion, because they want you to go out and buy the new wireless Pixel Buds which, by the way, look really cool. It's definitely a pair of headphones actually consider purchasing.

If you are an Android user, so we've got all the standard paperwork. We've got the sim removal tool. Is there anything else in there? No, not really? Okay, okay! Well! This is interesting. Okay! Well, that might be different because in all the other reviews, I've seen they didn't get headphones included, whereas we've got some here. Maybe that's an Australian thing: I, don't know, I've confirmed that, and I'll leave a comment below, but we do get some USB Pixel Buds in the box.

So let's put pop them aside. Now we've got a USB 2, that's our a USB-C 2, USB cable, and this has been pretty much the standard cable that you'll get with pixel devices, and you know that's pretty much dates back to the pixel 2. Now we also get this little guide here which will allow you to swap all of your data from another Android or even an iPhone, so that's a handy little guy to have, and then we also get the standard, 18 watt fast charger now I actually really love these. The Samsung makes a perfect one too. If you can't find one of these I actually tried to find one of these in Australia, they're really hard to come by.

So if you can't find the pixel charger for fast charging Samsung next one, which is about 50 bucks, which is also a good buy, so that's it! That's everything! That's in the box again, I, don't know why we got headphones. I was under the impression there were none in the box, but let's pop those aside and check out this new pixel 4 devices, okay, so I'll power it up now one thing I really like about pixel devices. Are they turn on super quick compared to something like a Samsung device? So let's see how this one goes. Oh wow, that was like insanely fast I, was literally like ten seconds to boot. Up now this is a demo device.

What we're going to do is just jump out of the demo, alright guys, so the pixel four actually has a brand-new display on it. This time around, it is ninety Hertz refresh rate, which means when you are scrolling through things, you're going to get this much smoother motion. So when you're scrolling through you know web pages, when you're scrolling through you know different things like Instagram, you're going to get a much smoother motion now. This is probably I think this might actually be the first device in Australia that has this brand new 90 Hertz refresh rate, so here in Australia, OnePlus devices and things like as Zoos they're pretty hard to come by. You essentially have to order them in to get those devices.

So the pixel is the first mainstream device to have that 90, Hertz, refresh, and I'm going to do a bit more investigation, but I can tell you just by looking at it. It is definitely smoother a smoother animation, just swiping up from the home screen. Yeah, that's definitely a lot smoother. Now this is a Super AMOLED display. I can tell you just looking at it.

It is very, very clear you can't see any pixels whatsoever, and it's very, very vibrant, so we might do we might just crank it yep. So it's all the way up, alright guys if you are a pixel user, you know that they have beautiful front-facing speakers, and it's typically one of the reasons that you come to pictures of devices they kind of stand out for having great quality speakers. What I want to do is just a quick, sound test to see how it compares to the pixel 2xl, which I consider to have quite good speakers, so it will crank up this song here, all the way. Okay, that sounded perfect. Let me just try the same song on my to excel, see how it compares.

Okay. Speakers are definitely better on the pixel for their more rich, and they feel more full. Ok, guys what I can tell you are it's definitely a bit more rounded on the edges of the device. I actually really like that feel it feels perfect in my hand, it sits really nicely it's easy to grip. That's probably the one of the other things that don't like about a pixel 2 devices is it's so square, and it's just that kind of easily falls out of my hand.

You can see I've already broken the top of the display of this one. Unfortunately, I'll get that fixed at some stage, but um as much as I love that pixel to excel. This definitely just feels really, really good, so easy to grip in the hand looking around the device on the back, we've obviously got this new camera module which doesn't have an ultra-wide I was a little disappointed by that, but that's okay. It's got laser focus, and I'm sure it'll, take beautiful photos we'll test that out shortly now this has got wireless charging. It doesn't have reverse wireless charging, which is a tiny bit of a disappointment.

Moving around we've also got the power button. We've got the volume rocker, which is really nice and click, and at the bottom we've got a set of speakers and the USB type-c connector, and on the other side we just have the standard SIM tray. Now, just looking at the actual display that doesn't look like there's any kind of color shift, it's very, very nice to look at and yeah I'm, actually very impressed with the quality of the display on this. Alright guys, so I've just had a bit of a play with the emotion sense and I can tell you the way it works us. If you have a look at the top of the screen there, you can see like a little tiny white section and essentially, what that's doing is its sensing, when your hand is moving around now.

A lot of people, kind of sort of you know said it. Wasn't that reliable and just having a bit of a player that I can tell you. It is quite good. It's probably not perfect. Just yet, but essentially the way it works is when you put the device down, and you want to skip a song, you bring your hand over the top and swipe, and then it would skip between songs.

So if I play that song there, you can see the white comes on up the top of the screen and then, when you swipe there, we go it skips to the next song, or you know, goes back the song, whichever, whichever way you've got it set up now. If you've got an alarm that comes on in the morning, and you know, you don't want to get up to that or whatever you have the ability to put your hand over it and stop that as well. I think it's its a cool feature. I, don't know if it's really you know life-changing, but hopefully it's not just a gimmick. We've seen it with other devices like the LG, etc.

I, just kind of hope, Google puts more time and effort into making that intuitive, alright guys so just have a chance to go out and test the camera quality on the Google, pixel, 4, and I'll tell you. It is truly impressive, I, absolutely love the algorithm and the technology that Google puts into their photo quality. So just having a bit of a play. Obviously we don't have the dual camera setup like we do on something like the iPhone 11 Pro. What we do have is just the standard F 1.8 lens, but we also have the telephoto lens. Now they didn't put an ultra-wide in and look that's a bit of a letdown, but it does have a laser focus and the focusing is super quick.

The one thing I really like is when you're in the camera now I'll just bring these in here you can click on something, and you also get these options on the side here to change all of your exposure in real time. What else is really cool? Are you can kind of see it blurring the background? As you are about to take the photo, so you're content, you didn't really get that previously, so that obviously bumped up the processing that the camera does. It still takes a really, really quick photo, but essentially yeah. Now you can kind of click on something, and you can move that up and down. If you want the photo a bit brighter, or you can go like that, and you can see that it's actually locking on to whatever you click on so if I click on that, it will then follow that around the actual photo so really impressed with that now, I haven't had a chance to test out the actual video quality.

We only get 4k 30 the front-facing camera is a little different. It's not actually as wide as the Google Pixel 3, which is again a little tiny bit of a letdown, but just looking at the quality there we go. I just took one there myself, while sitting here doing some videoing, and it's its still really impressive. You know, like I, personally, think that pixel devices take the absolute best portrait shots so guys there we go quick, unboxing, quick, look at all the new features personally I think the biggest one is the 90 Hertz display. I can tell you just by flicking, and you know, having a look at different webpages, etc.

It is ultra smooth. So what I did just before I recorded this video I had a quick look at some plans here in Australia and I found a perfect one. Optus actually has the phone depending on if you want to get the smaller model, the pixel 4 or if you want to get the XL you can. Actually, if you upgrade, you can get a perfect Bluetooth speaker from harm and common I. Think it's how you pronounce it included in your plan, plus you can get up to 100 gigs of data each month.

So that's a perfect deal. If you want to look at upgrading from something like the pixel 2 or maybe an older iPhone, alright guys. So that's it for this video I'm going to do a side-by-side comparison in depth to the Google Pixel 2 in another video, but I hope you enjoyed this video, and I'll. See you in the next one Cheers.
