Google PIXEL 3 XL - Unboxing & DETAILED First Review!

Shh, we've got the Google Pixel, 3xl and I'll. Tell you a little secret. We might be one of the first in the UK hi guys it's STO and welcome back to a brand-new video. Now today is special because we have had lots of different smartphones over the last a few months. But today, if you just bear with me a second we're going to be unboxing the Google, pixel, 3, XL and I think we may be one of the first in the UK to do it so got to be worth alike. Surely so? Yes, this review unit was sent to me by Google, so massive thanks to them.

But of course, as you well know, on this channel that won't sway my opinion in any way, it will still be an honest, open review. What I like what I dislike on first impressions, hardware and software created by them, and I'm, excited to see how they've implemented it hashtag team pixel, so we're going to put it down here now. I actually did go to the launch. At the start of last week, I went to the one in London and I got hands-on, with the Google Pixel 3/3 excel and, of course, other products like the pixel slay and the new Google Home Hub, for example, lots of great products at the launch, but this was probably the one that most people were anticipating, so let's unbox it so inside. Here we have the actual phone is sat inside the foam, which I think is quite a nice little touch.

Not quite your pointed, and this is the actual box. This is how you will buy, if you so do, if you so do, and I'm now going to pop this down, because there's nothing else in there, while so at the launch, Google announced two different pixel products, the three in the three Excel, the specs, are largely the same on both the only two main differences are battery and display. Now the display on here is a six point: three-inch quad HD plus OLED display with a PPI density of five to three, whereas of course on the pixel three, it's a 1080p screen, and it's 5.5 inches with a PPI density of 443. The battery is larger in the larger phone we've got a 3430 mAh battery capacity in here on the three we have 2915 mAh outside that is basically the same phone, not in terms of appearance, and we'll get to that. So on this model, I have a hundred and twenty-eight gigabytes of storage.

It also comes in 64 as well. Wireless charging for the first time on a pixel as well: IP, 68, water and dust resistant, Qualcomm, Snapdragon, 845, and I've got the clearly white version here, and it also comes in not pink and I. Don't know why I'm doing that, other camera, that's aggressive, and just black as well. Here is the Google Pixel 3xl favorite bit of any unboxing. As you well know, it's just beautiful.

It's a nice feel in the hand I'm not going to lie. I do say that about a lot of phones, I like the feel of phones in my hand, but this one definitely does feel nice I'm. A massive fan of this mat at the back, especially considering it is actually glass now, as well as the Gorilla Glass 5 front and back. It also has an aluminum frame as well. Although it feels premium, it feels a lot lighter than a lot of other phones.

So if you don't want a heavy phone, then this even though it's a large phone still feels nice and light okay. So also in here we have our SIM card ejector tool there, and we also have type-c earbuds, type-c, cable and a couple of adapters there, including the 3.5 millimeter headphone jack adapter there. So you guessed it. There is no headphone jack and finally, we have the plug as well so nice to see them, including the earphones outside that it's fairly standard, known cases, for example, and that's that so, as we said, this is the clearly white version- and this is my personal favorite I- think that just black variant is probably going to be the most popular in terms of sales. It's a popular color because it has a two-tone effect.

I, don't know whether you can see on here, but we have matte and gloss. So we have gloss here and Matt's here and that's the same on the black version as well. A lot of people love matte, black and I. Do, but I've not used the white phone in a while, and I'm quite excited to make this my daily driver, which I will be doing for the purpose of my longer-term review. Currently, my SIM card is in the note 9 and before that the iPhone 10s max I will be doing comparisons on all three phones, standard comparisons and camera comparison.

So if you want to see all of those make sure you are subscribed to the channel turn on the notification bell, so that when I post those videos, you are notified, I, don't know why I just winked at the camera I apologize. So let's talk design first, and we have one camera, that's going to be the standout feature for many people in this world of dual cameras: triple cameras, quad cameras. You may have seen my video that I did a couple of days ago on that phone, but Google continued to claim. You only need one rear camera and a lot of that comes down to the software and processing and if you can have anything like what the pixel 2 into XL did. If it can improve on that, it will be for sure one of, if not the best camera in a smartphone of 2018, and I highly predict.

That will be the case until I actually test it. Alongside the note 9, alongside the iPhone, 10s, Mac's, etc. I can't know for sure, but, like I said that video is coming very soon. Fingerprint ends in the middle on the back: the little Google logo there as well, very clean, very crisp I'm, a big fan of the design from the back. You have type C charge underneath your SIM card slot there.

Unfortunately, there is no expandable storage, which will be a negative for a lot of people. However, it does come with unlimited storage on the cloud, so that's a very nice thing to see. Google doing so, perhaps the absence of that SD card slot isn't such a problem. We also have the different color power buttons on two of the variants. The black just comes as black on the white one.

We have a green sort of mint green and on the not pink I, don't actually know what color it is I'll flash on the screen now. So let's turn this bad boy on and let's discuss at the front and one major controversial topic, I straight away. You will notice one glaring thing, and unfortunately it's one of those things that if you don't like it, you're not really gonna every kind of get past it and I think it's safe to say you know what I'm talking about, and that's of course, this little bad boy right up here. It's pretty big, now I'm personally kind of becoming on the fence with not choose it because they're on pretty much every smartphone now, but I'm only kind of onboard with it, if I'm able to blacking out that area for viewing media and if I just want to get rid of it for the day. Thankfully, you can do this with the Google Pixel 3xl, it's slightly more difficult.

You have to go into developer options, or you did upon the initial release. I think they may be changing this, but also there was a problem with hiding the icons in that top area, which is the whole point of kind of having that real estate. Originally, they were under that black band, but I, don't know whether you've seen Lou's video from unbox therapy. He talked about that point and I think they have made a change and the icons now jump into that black area. It's the whole reason of having that, like I, said that extra space, if it did remain underneath that black band, it was kind of defeat the object.

So it is nice to see Google listening and changing things that possibly need to be done, so I'm just going to test out the fingerprint sensor here to see how it stacks up against some other flagships of 2018, it's very quick to actually set up. Is it quick to actually use, though? Let's try? Are you ready fingers on buzzers, okay, okay, so reason it's not the quickest. There are a couple that are quicker. It is still very, very good, and it's ridiculously accurate as well. Now the actual display is gorgeous.

It really is one of the best displays on the market. It may get given the crown of the best display. We've seen that change hands over the last couple of months already, and it may change again here, because this right here is a lovely display. You certainly aren't going to be disappointed as we're on the subject of display. Let's talk about the chin as well now I'm, not a massive fan of chins on phones, I like the bezel list, displays we've got a notch and usually the notch is there to kind of reduce the bezels as much as possible and get more screen real estate.

It kind of, in my opinion, defeats the object a little again. If you have that chin there as well, but there is a reason for the notch and the chin. We have dual front-facing speakers here and the sound according to Google is up to 40 percent louder and clearer, better crisper, just 40 percent better in their opinion. So let's give that a little test now and just one thing to note, while I've just got onto it, we also have Android 9 straight from the box, so this is Android pipe on here. So we have the likes of gestures, for example, which you can use, and I'm excited to test that as well, and I will be, including all of this information in my full review after a few days use to let you know how I'm getting on with it right, so quick audio test right now, I'm going to use one of my own videos for copyright reasons.

Obviously, as you can hear from that, it is a great speaker in a smartphone. There are only a couple really currently that I would recommend for the speaker- and this is certainly one of them -. If you're that speaker, smartphone, speaker, smartphone guy, if you're that guy or girl, then this might be the one a few more specs. We've got four gigabytes of RAM on here, both on the three and the XL I'm surprised they didn't go with six gigabytes on the XL version. A lot of bunnies tend to do that with the sort of bigger iteration of smartphone.

Is it essential to have more than 4 gigabytes of RAM on a smartphone that will come down to personal preference, I kind of feel that sometimes, when you start going to sort of 6 and 8 gigabytes, it's sometimes a little of overkill, but equally some people will say they can notice the difference. Certainly if you're really heavy into multitasking and lots of apps open gaming, for example, and sure but I, don't think the everyday user will notice too much now I'm just going to take a couple of photos with this phone to see how actually performs very early use and then, of course, like I, said, are going to go into more detail in a future video where I compared this with the Samsung Note 9 in the iPhone Menace max I'm, probably the 1 plus 6 as well. Even though the sixty's out very soon, a lot of people still have the 1 plus 6. Ok, so we've got the likes of panorama: portrait, camera, video and more as well. So the actual sensor in the pixel 3 & 3 XL is a 12 point.

Two megapixel dual pixel with F 1.8 aperture, so quick early test and straightaway I mean it's just looked at that the sort of quality that this camera is already showing I know. This is gonna, be a huge camera this year now with portrait, we can actually alter the focus after the event. Also, one great thing about the camera and I'll touch on this in more detail in the full review. It'll often give you recommended actual individual shots if you've been moving, for example, and the hairs got in your face, or its dogs jumped in front of your dog's jumped in front of your face: it'll recommend the other ones so that you can sort of pick that specific show. You can also change and choose your own, but generally it's pretty spot-on.

When I went hands-on at the launch, he did usually recommend the best shots and that feature is called top shot. It's also got night sight as well, which looks amazing for nighttime photography, and again I'm going to be testing that in the for review and in the comparison of videos, quick selfie as well, what video would be complete without one and when I mentioned the notch. Having a reason, the other reason outside to speak is the fact that it has a dual lens: 8 megapixel, sensors, one wide-angle and one telephoto. The telephoto is F 1.8, aperture and 75 degrees. The wide-angle is F to point to a picture and a displayed field of view of 107 degrees, so amazing for group, selfies or groupies I think they refer to it, as maybe that's going to be the new term, just not down with the kids anymore.

I used to be I'm, going to go portrait, and yet I can tell I'm. Going to have a lot of fun with this portrait shot on the selfie as well good times with the pixel in terms of the buttons it might just match. My favorite ever button clicking Asst I still, don't think it does, but it's probably ii can film 4k up to 30 frames. A second on the pixel three and three XL little disappointing. You can't go up to 60 frames.

A second like you can with a lot of its competitors again for the general consumer. That won't really be an issue, but if you want to shoot 4k 60, of course it will. You can, of course, film on the rear camera at 60 frames, a second in 1080p and 1080p up to 30 frames, a second on the front camera as well, and that, ladies and gents is pretty much it for my first initial impressions review. What do you think of the Google Pixar three in three excel from what you've seen in this video? Were you looking at possibly buying it before it came out? Has your mind now and shifted since It's come out for better or worse? Have you pre-ordered it? Are you looking to get a different phone altogether and the only other thing is, if you have the Google Pixel to or to excel, are you interested in upgrading? Let me know all your thoughts in the comment section below I, always love, sifting through and checking out what you guys actually think like and share. If you did enjoy this video and found it helpful, subscribe and hit that notification bell, if you're new to the channel and want to be notified every time, I post a video on anything tech, pretty much daily content here on YouTube I love, you leave you I'll see on the next one to do a TP cell.
