Apple iPhone 12 Pro Honest Review

So, what is up guys nick here, helping you to master your technology? Welcome to my honest review of the iPhone 12 Pro now, I'm calling it the honest review, because I want to give you more of my subjective experience, my honest opinions of this phone and what I've been thinking about using it we'll begin with the configuration now you can see here, I went with the iPhone 12 Pro. This is the pacific, blue and 128 gigabytes. So this is the entry level phone, but entry level doesn't come at an entry level price for a pro model. This thing comes in at 9.99, aka, a 1 000. Also, you can order the pro max on Friday, which is going to cost you a bit more, but it's going to be pretty similar to what you're, seeing here, just in a bigger body and a bigger battery life. So I'm going to begin also by talking about the key specifications that kind of matter here, 6.1 inch super retina Dr. You have a triple 12 megapixel camera on the rear, a 12 megapixel camera on the front, six gigs of ram in this phone, and also we do have the Apple A14, bionic chipset, the first five nanometer chipsets in a mainstream phone, also 2015 William hour battery iOS 14 to boot.

In addition, this phone does have 5g. Let me give you my thoughts on the design, the build in the body of this phone after a week of ownership with this phone or almost two. I think now this phone feels like the price you paid. There's no doubt about that. It definitely feels one thousand 1000 at the same time that feeling of newness kind of wears off after you get used to the squared edges.

Yes, it does feel different, don't get me wrong, but after you get used to using it, it just feels like an 11 pro again with squared edges. To be honest with you 189 grams, the weight is pretty strong here, giving you that feeling of heft. I will say that on the side, these stainless steel edges do pick up a lot of fingerprints. However, so you do want a case if you like a cleaner look, or you want to keep that phone clean, but the stainless steel edges give an impression of a more premium phone than the iPhone 12. Now on the back here, I love the matte texture, as I did with the 11 pro and pro max.

There is no type of fingerprints getting on this part of the phone, although it can get really slimy and nasty up here in the camera. As you can see right there, a little of fingerprint already just from touching by the LIDAR sensor right there, it can get a little nasty up there. Also, this Apple logo can attract a little of fingerprint a little of stuff here, but not much. The back stays relatively clean. The ceramic shield makes the iPhone 12 Pro also four times stronger than before, but at the same time I still installed the screen protector I'll leave a link to the screen protector, I'm using down below because they didn't mention anything about no scratch resistance, and I don't like scratches on my phone.

I don't know about you. In addition, the ip68 dust and water resistance makes this phone basically worry free when it comes to accidental, you know, dropping in the toilet or something like that. You know what I'm saying: if you get the phone wet on accident, you probably don't have to worry much about it, and I also just like the overall thin bezels here on the iPhone 12 Pro also basically no chin, but I cannot stand seeing this notch again now. I know a lot of people say it goes away. It doesn't matter.

I don't care I'll trade it for the face ID. It's its just worth it, because the face ID is a great unlocking system. Right now face ID is really annoying to use outside, because you're likely wearing a mask if you're out and about at this current time we're living in so right now, that's kind of not the best solution. I actually like fingerprint, sensors a lot right now, so I think I would like to see in a fingerprint sensor embedded within here and the face ID. However, I just want to see apple try to find a way with all the billions of dollars they make to try to get face I'd integrated into a smaller portion of the body, maybe up here, even if the bezel is a little bigger than now, even if it's like kind of reminiscent of the iPad Pro where you have a bezel around and the face ID is within the phone.

So at the end of the day, I'm honestly just getting the impressions that this is just another 11 pro with a different edge, just squared edges and a lot of people love that, but for some people they probably like the curved edges- and this has more of a flat feel just feels like a flat phone. In your hand, if you really hate curvy, edges curved display stuff, like that, the 12 pro the 12 is for you. These phones are super flat feeling all right. So, let's talk about the display. One thing that separates this from the iPhone 12, as you probably already know, is the brightness, and it's really noticeable.

If you crank your brightness up a lot, if you're using your phone in direct sunlight outdoors, this phone is better by a good margin over the iPhone 12. However, being indoors, you really don't need that much brightness. So I think the 12 is enough. This goes 800 nits. I also will say I'm very disappointed to not see pro motion display on this phone.

I just can't fathom a thousand dollar phone with no 120 hertz. Furthermore, I'm very disappointed in this, mostly because almost every phone in this price range offers that in the competition, so I'm really annoyed that. Furthermore, I didn't see that here on my one thousand dollar iPhone 12 Pro. However, I will say that this phone still remains very smooth for 60 hertz panel. It is the smoothest 60 hertz phone you can buy for sure, but still the sharpness of the display is a1 not like you had a non-sharp phone before, but of course, you're going to get that again here with the iPhone 12 Pro, as you would expect.

In addition, this phone right here is also going to give you a very nice overall thin kind of bezels around the edges like I talked about earlier, so unless you're looking up here, the display is very immersive. When watching video you can have the notch get into your content a little depending on what you're watching. Fortunately, my video right here. It doesn't really affect that experience. But if you do have you know like people over here or like something some subject in the video it can, if you pinch in cut off the content, so I do want to see again the notch disappear for that display experience.

But my overall take is its a perfect pro display, it's very bright, very good accuracy, very good for editing, photos and videos, because it doesn't over saturate doesn't blow out highlights you can really get an accurate overall representation of what you're editing and if you go ahead and punch in here, let's go ahead and punch in you do have true tone which you can disable and enable it'll adjust for an ambient lighting and dark modes and night shift very easily accessible. So display is great to me: it's just missing 120 hertz. So when it comes to software, one of the key reasons people keep buying iPhones is because of their software support. This thing is going to go five years, easy, maybe more. You can see right here, different set of wallpapers for the iPhone 12 Pro versus the 12, so that's one little thing: you'll notice in this software.

In addition, if you go to camera here, and you go into the photo section, you'll see you have the ability to punch in 2x- that's mainly due to that extra camera. If you go to video here, you can also zoom further in video than the iPhone 12, and you could zoom further here in photo, but nowhere near competitor's, zoom levels. This thing is only 10x digital, so nowhere near those- and of course you could change your video a lot of good different settings in here versus some cheaper iPhones out there. So this is really the pro version. If you want everything you can get an iPhone in the camera, that's where the software makes a major difference back in settings when you're scrolling through your settings, when you're going through the software in general, there's not much of a difference from basically any other iOS 14 devices.

So you know what to expect here. We don't get to go on and on about software honestly over a week, I feel like I'm using any other iPhone when it comes to the software and performance. The a14 is a chipset designed for the future. It's a chipset, that's designed to go the distance. Here's where you notice the upgrade! Are you going to be editing video on your phone? I would bet some of you are.

If you're buying a pro level iPhone, are you going to be editing photos? Are you using demanding applications because you're trying to get work done mobile? This thing right here is the phone to get or the pro max. If you want the bigger display, this one can take care of all those needs, and it could do it better than the iPhone 12. Now I will say that another area where you do notice the bump in performance is mostly the ram. You don't see it at all in the single core. You see it when you're reopening applications.

So if you have some stuff open here, and then you go back into those applications, you will notice that the iPhone 12 Pro just doesn't have many instances of a reload. The six gigs of ram has boosted this phone over the iPhone 12. So overall, I would say performance is amazing. Once again, iOS is very well optimized. It gets up to date, but iPhones have been performing very amazing for the past three or four years.

So this again in my experience, didn't feel like a main reason to upgrade. Okay guys, I want to talk about storage for a minute. I actually love that apple put 128 gigs here on their 1 000 phones. This is absolutely necessary because, if you're paying this much you're going to be doing 4k video photo editing. This is the bare minimum to get the job done.64 gigs to me is always cramped. I don't know about you, but 64 gigs runs out extremely fast if you're using your phone heavy, which I bet you are, if you're buying a thousand dollar iPhone, you probably might be using it kind of heavy.

So 128 gigabytes is a good starting point. I'm happy with this upgrade for the iPhone 12 Pro, alright guys. So, let's talk about the cameras. We do have triple 12 megapixel cameras like the 11 pro. A lighter scanner is added this year for better AR stuff.

Like that, I don't think that's something that you're probably going to notice much unless you're using apps, to take advantage of that. I think it's again, another future upgrade to keep this phone in your pocket for years and be able to take advantage of those new and latest technologies that will be coming in the future, and we have a 12 megapixel selfie camera on the front of this one. When you go ahead and go to the camera, you do have the ability go 2x, 0.5 and standard wide. In addition, you now have HDR video available for this phone. So if we go to the settings here, let's go to settings, and we go to the camera.

We're going to go down to the camera here, and you can go into record video where you go to your record. Video settings HDR video. So what this does are it basically puts your phone in a high dynamic range. Now, if you don't know how to edit, and you're doing video editing and posts, it's going to blow out the highlights, if you don't have editing software that supports HDR video, so do be aware of that. But if you're just sharing a social media, your videos are going to look so much better than most other phones out there.

That's a huge key to this upgrade here in the iPhone 12 Pro again you get your portrait modes night sight modes and the like it's basically the best video recording camera phone on the market. In my opinion, and going to be an excellent b-roll phone for you as well or if you're just recording family moments, you know you can rely on this thing. It's going to be excellent. The front-facing camera also matches up very well with the rear cameras making for a very consistent experience, but that's enough talking for me in my opinion, after a week or two of using this phone once again, the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 pro max are cementing themselves, as probably the best phone camera to have in your pocket. Take a look at some of my samples and decide for yourself what you think and the audio that comes from this phone is exceptional as well.

The bottom speaker is clearly louder, but again there are no earphones in the box. Nothing like that. So you do have to get your own way of using audio. If you don't want to use the speakers themselves, but they are very full crispy and loud. So there are no complaints when it comes to the stereo speakers for this device want to talk just briefly about face ID, it's been just as reliable as the 11 pro.

I noticed basically zero differences here in face ID and battery life for the iPhone 12 Pro now. This reminds me a lot of the 12. This phone is a day phone with medium usage. If you're using camera and video, I have to state that the iPhone 12 Pro might not make it through the day. If you're going hard on that or even gaming.

This battery is just not that large for a phone at 6.1 inches. We have the galaxy s20. For example, competitor. This phone has a 4 000 William hour battery, so this phone and actual usage was a little disappointing. For me, I'm getting around five to six hours screen time with my type of usage, some people have been claiming nine hours.

I can't even get close to nine hours on this 12 pro, but this phone to me, I would say in battery life, has been basically a day iPhone. It's not super impressive and maybe there's a reason why Apple didn't mention battery much in this presentation for this phone, because it's just what you expect getting a day out of your phone you're not going to get much more out of the 12 pro so not overly impressive. Here, I'm waiting to see the results on the 12 pro max when it comes to battery life and phone call quality having 5g connectivity, Qualcomm modems in here it's a thumbs up. I don't want to talk much more. I'm happy with the overall connectivity.5G hasn't been overly impressive for me right now, I'm still waiting to see more widespread usage of 5g but still having it is a future proofing method for this phone and a lot of people do keep their iPhones for quite some time. So this is definitely a good thing.

So, in conclusion, this phone is seems to be selling pretty well, you can't get one right now I mean you could buy one, but you're not gonna, get it for like three weeks now, I'm not sure if Apple just didn't produce enough if the demand was very high, but I feel like a lot of people just bought this because it was the latest iPhone, but the phones that are actually very interesting, I think, is the 12 mini and the 12 pro max, because it's either you want the smallest iPhone or you want the largest iPhone. The top pro for me, I think slots in perfectly for somebody who wants the top-of-the-line iPhone, but they don't want the biggest size. That's basically who this phone is for photographers videographers people who just want like the most premium iPhone, but they don't want to carry on the largest phone, and they don't like the two camera setup. They like the triple camera setup, that's really who this phone's for, but you have to live with some of the sacrifices that you don't get on the pro max like the weaker battery life, for example, or maybe just a smaller screen, which is arguably less useful than a bigger screen. I think you can't go wrong, though it's an iPhone, you know what to expect the very good and refined experience here.

The 12 pro is no different, but I do believe that the mini and the max are going to outsell this phone. That's just my personal opinion, and overall is this phone worth it. I think, if you're coming from the 10 series or the 10s series, this might be definitely worth it from the 11 pro definitely not thumbs up. If you enjoyed this video subscribe, if you haven't already nick here, open you to master your technology, thank you very much for watching. I will catch you all in the next episode and peace.
