Run cooler for longer last year, I shot a video on the Xperia one to highlight Sony's adaptive, charging tech, a feature we're starting to see more and more on manufacturers today, but I, don't think Sony got enough credit for helping user battery health. This philosophy is back on the mark ? with another battery management feature that could be huge news broken by the folks at DA, make sure you show them some love and tell them one sent ya called HS power control. The idea is to reduce heat by not charging your battery when the phone is plugged in I know go with me here for just a sec. Instead of topping off that battery, while running your CPU and GPU hard HS power control will power the phone over the charged cable without adding the extra thermal stress of juicing your battery at the same time- and this is kind of a big deal, one of my fears for phones as we're trying to drive them harder or use them to replace laptops. More aggressive use means faster battery degradation. Take a product like the next doc, for example, if I use a phone's desktop mode while plugged in that battery, is always going to be running harder using the phone and recharging.
At the same time, bypassing the battery means we eliminate one part of the phone generating heat, and we don't use up a charge cycle on the battery. Now, while this lives in Sony's game, enhancer software, you can add any app. You want to the list to enable this feature where it really comes in handy on something like video rendering it might make you a little nervous to run your phone hard for a sustained period of time, while plugged in I'm going to be testing this a little harder for the full review, but doing a quick comparison on the mark. ? chewing up some UHD video and PowerDirector, the phone runs cooler to the touch and the battery doesn't seem to get as warm when I try to jump out of power director to check what hardware is reporting, it's billed as a gaming feature, but this is huge for professional applications using the cameras, while it's connected to a power source using the mark 2 as a remote viewfinder for a standalone camera. Better power management brings us another closer for our phones being able to displace laptops and tablets for heavier lifting, without sacrificing the longevity of the phone side of the equation.
Again, Sony deserves a ton of credit for some smart power features, and this is just a quick little feature. Video I'm going to have a lot more to share as I dig through what the mark 2 can really do so stay tuned. I think this is gonna, be a lot of fun, thanks. So much for watching, sharing, subscribing, and I'm going to catch you all on the next video.
