Xiaomi Mi 9 Review

Hello I run Vitr? stuff here today, we're going to take a look at one of the most affordable, 2019 flagships. The Xiaomi v9 Xiaomi is known for pushing the boundaries on feature-packed phones that cost much less than competing devices, and the me9 is no exception, but first things. First, let's begin with the design on the front. You have a large 6.4 inch AMOLED display made by Samsung, topped with a small teardrop notch and only a slight hint of a bottom bezel. Under the display, Xiaomi has put an optical fingerprint sensor. It can be a bit finicky sometimes, but overall, the in display fingerprints, the reader performs well enough and once your muscle-memory kicks in, you have little trouble, unlocking the phone.

The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6, which shows that Xiaomi isn't cutting any corners when it comes to durability. Glass can be found on the back of the 9 as well. Here we have the piano black color, which is all about business and is not all that much fun, but you can also get this phone in fancy ocean, blue or lavender violet. The nice camera bump houses, three separate cameras. The top one has a very distinct reflective circle around it, making this phone easy to recognize even from a distance.

We'll talk more about the cameras later, but now, let's continue with the design features on top. A notable element is the infrared blaster which, combined with the mirror mode software lets you use the me9 as a remote control for most electronics, such as your TV or a/c. Meanwhile, on the left, we see a new hardware addition to the Xiaomi phones, a dedicated button for Google System pressing it even when the phone is locked launches, the Google Assistant, and you can start giving your commands straight away on the bottom. We can see a few microphone holes, a USB, type-c port and the loudspeaker. Yes, only one speaker, and it's not getting any help from the ear fees either.

So audio quality is one of the few weaknesses of the V 9 there's, also no 2.5 millimeter headphone jack around. Frankly, we've come to expect that by now, but still, unless you have wireless headphones, you're likely to miss it as a whole. This phone feels extremely well-built. There is nothing in the build quality that would give away the more affordable price compared to other flagships. It has a good heft to it and, despite the screen, the mid-line feels comfortable to hold and to use speaking of views.

There's little. We didn't like during our time with the 9. It's ruining Xiaomi's me UI 10, built on top of Android 9. The software has plenty of unique features that can be quite helpful, like to apps, which allows you to have two separate accounts active on almost any app Instagram, Twitter and so on. But there are also a few quirks with me: UI, for instance, notification icons in the status bar disappear moments.

After you receive a new notification which seems more like a bug rather than a feature. If you're new to me UI, it will take some time to get used to it. But after that the experience is mostly good. A big reason for our pleasant experience is what's hiding under the hood of the 9, a snapdragon, 85 5, yet again, no corners cut. The 855 is a beast of a chip, simple as that it will handle everything you throw at it, even when playing heavy 3d games.

This phone gets only slightly warmed when others are almost whole double under the same load. Xiaomi has also paired Qualcomm chips with 6 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of storage and, while that's lower than his flagship competitors, it's acceptable considering the price plus there is always the 128 gig version for those that need more storage. These days, performance differences between flagships are almost unnoticeable during day-to-day use. Now it's all about the cameras. So how good are the three cameras we mentioned earlier? First, let's talk about what the lineup consists of.

We have a main 48 megapixel camera, a 12 megapixel telephoto one with 2 times, optical zoom and the 16 megapixel ultra wide-angle lens to complete the set the star of the show is the 48 megapixel sensor made by Sony. It, however, comes with a drawback. The large sensor lacks optical image, stabilization, so you'll be missing. A very important camera feature should also know that, while you can shoot at the full 48, megapixels you'll have to switch to the dedicated camera mode, which lacks certain features like HDR and 48. Megapixel photos are huge when it comes to image.

Quality daytime photos taken with the 9 are almost flawless as you can see from some of the shots we took with it, the telephoto camera and the wide-angle one can be very handy depending on the object. You're trying to capture and switching between the cameras is easy and intuitive. It won't be long before you've mastered the trio and taken your photography to the next level. At night, the dedicated night mode combines four pixels into one to gather more light for more dramatic, looking and cleaner pictures. The results won't be on par with Google's night sight, but night mode pictures are definitely good enough to impress your friends shifting our attention back to the front of the 9.

We find the 20 megapixel selfie camera. It is definitely up there with the rest of the flagship front facing cameras. Daylight photos are well-balanced and rich with details and with portrait mode you get that sweet bouquet effect in challenging light conditions. The selfies won't be perfect, but they're still worthy of sharing on social media, and we'd, say even better than some other flagships time to move on to one of the biggest weaknesses of the 9 is battery, unlike other brands. Xiaomi actually reduce the battery on its flagship, putting a 3300 William hour, one on the 9.

Despite that, most users will get through a whole day with ease, but if you spend your time phone in hand, you'd be looking for a charger sooner rather than later to combat that the 9 has some aggressive power management so much so that we could run our standard battery test without the phone interfering and spoiling the results. However, we measured that 30 minutes of video playback at max brightness will cost you 6% of your battery, while intense gaming for the same amount of time will take away 10%. All that being said, it's time for the perfect stuff, the price in Europe, the 9 retails for just 450 euro, which is just over 500 US dollars. In other words, is half the price of most 20-19 flagships. Sure it is missing a few extra features, but the core package is here: solid, build quality, top of the line chip and a good camera for what you're getting the nines value is simply unmatched.

Overall, despite the few things that we're not happy about, we really like what shall meet it with the 9. It's a great option for those looking to have the flagship performance without destroying their bank account, and that's it for this quick review of the 9 to learn more about it check out a full review on phone arena, comm from the link in the video description for more of our content, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and activate the notifications from the bell icon below.
