A few months ago, I started noticing that my phone shuts down when my battery is at 15% charge from then it escalated quite quickly. It would start shutting down at 30, 40 or even 60 percent charge. My phone isn't new, so I thought I will need to get a new one. Eventually, I noticed that my phone got fat. You could feel a noticeable bump on the back. I took out the battery, and it was swollen it barely fit in place, and maybe the time it might have even cracked the phone.

It did the trick in the video, but I doubt you will be using the batter for long after such fix, and you would essentially be carrying a ticking bomb in your pocket. I'm guessing the hole releases, the built-up gas, but if the battery has defects that cause it to make gas, then it wouldn't solve the problem.

It might be fun as an experiment, but not really practical. If your phone is still more of something just buy a new battery and make sure to properly dispose off your old swollen battery.
