UNBOXING The Google PIXEL 4 XL

Hi I'm, Seth and all INBOX pretty much anything, and today I'm unboxing the Google Pixel 4 out of this very small box that was just delivered to my front door. If this is your first time visiting the channel, thank you so much for tuning in and make sure to hit that subscribe button down below for more videos. Just like this. If this isn't your first time, or maybe you came from my main channel, my sneaker channel, which it's pretty big departure from this, thank you guys for tuning in to I appreciate every single one of you guys. You guys are the best you didn't already know, but getting into the unboxing itself. This is the brand-new Google Pixel 4.

This is apparently the most leaked phone or Android phone ever I'm going to be honest with you, I followed the Google, pixel fours, pre-release information or leaks pretty lightly, like I, didn't know too much about the phone when they got announced. So wasn't that big of a deal to me, but regardless I pre-ordered the phone, and now it's here, and I'm really excited to check it out, because I haven't used an Android phone in years. The first thing inside the box is this: Google 5 pamphlet, you're, invited to the sim free life. That's great I'm on Verizon I, don't mean that except we've got some paper of course, and it looks like also inside the box. Besides the phone we've got some text that says stuff like hi there great to meet you, it's a nice touch and then, of course, we're left with the thing that we're actually here to see, which is the Google Pixel for from this plastic wrap there we go.

This is a really nice box. Look at that I feel like smartphone boxes are all kind of the same and I. Don't think it matters that much, but it would be nice to see someone try something a little different from just a standard, white or black box with a picture of the back of the phone on it. So, on the front of the box, you've got an image of the phone. I obviously got the white Pixel 4 XL on the back of the box.

You've got another picture of the back of the phone, which is kind of interesting and I. Feel like this picture is actually more interesting than the picture on the front of the box. But I could just be me on the left side of the box. You've got the side of the phone with that nice orange button right there and on the top you just got a nice little colorful, G Google logo. It's a nice, simple, minimal box and I dig it, so it looks like in order to get into the box.

We've got these little tabs, which we got to pull. There's one there's ? nice and easy I like that and I guess it's the moment of truth. Here we go I can't mom's nice here is the phone itself, oh shoot! That's why I shouldn't do that. It happened with the iPhone I can't do it again with the pixel and there it is the phone itself in all its glory. Let's pull it out, they're, really marketing the back of his phone I guess the back is sort of the marquee design detail of the marquee design feature because it's the only part that really looks like anything I guess the front of the phone looks like every other smartphone, but why don't we pull out this plastic? There we go! Oh, here we go.

You guys seem to love this stuff. I! Don't understand, didn't sound! That great my opinion, but here it is the Google Pixel for Excel in the white colorway. Looking spotless, really fresh I really dig the way this phone looks. It's got this nice matte white back, which I believe is glass kind of like the iPhone 11 Pro, and it's just got a nice weight to it as well. I really love the way.

It feels in my hand, but I'll get more into the phone in a second. Why don't we take a look at what's going on inside the box? Here's the rest of the box. You've got a nice little G behind this phone bed. First up we've got the manuals. I would assume you've got the SIM card, tray removal tool right there on the front.

Some user guides some basic safety information right here. Nothing that exciting the next up. You've got what looks to be the USB-C 2 USB-C charging cable, which is really nice. I, love that this phone uses USB-C instead of proprietary lightning, which sucks on the iPhone I. Guess it's not the worst thing in the world, but it would be nice if everything that I owned had USB-C, because my laptop has it my desktop.

Has it all my other devices have it, except for my iPhone, but now I've got an Android phone with it. So maybe I'll use this as a daily driver, we'll have to wait and see, and then, interestingly enough, it looks like we also have an adapter from USB-C 2 standard USB right here. We've got the USB-C on one end, and then you've got the USB on the other end, which is nice I, guess you can plug in some peripherals into your phone. Yes, that's the idea and then the last thing inside the box is what looks like the power wall wart the power brick very nice I'm, assuming it's a fast charging power, brick I, would hope so yeah, let's just say it is probably, is so now that we've got the unboxing out of the way. Let's take a look at the phone itself, which is kind of the whole reason you guys are here anyway.

This is the first time we've turned on an Android phone. That's mine in like seven years, I think maybe not seven years. I think the first iPhone that I ever got was the iPhone 5, and before that I had an LG that was my last Android phone I've had black bears have had everything checking for updates, which I guess is good. Installing updates, there's already updates, isn't today the first day that this phone is shipping. I could be wrong, but sorry updates.

So here it is the Google picks of four, and I think the first thing that you'll, probably notice is this giant forehead kind of, like my forehead on the top of the phone. Instead of the notch like they had on the pixel 3, it looks like they've gone for the full straight across the top. Look, the sort of bowl-cut look which I actually kind of prefer, because it doesn't look as weird I just wish it was a little thinner. It actually is kind of weird that the larger black bar is on the top and not on the bottom, but I guess that's because all the've got the radar sensor in there you've got the front-facing camera. You've got the earpiece.

All sorts of stuff are going on in the top of this phone I believe this phone is actually capable of a 90 Hertz, refresh rate, which is some of the fastest on the market. I, don't think you can get a phone with anything faster than that and that's faster than the iPhone, which means all the animations are going to look smoother. It's just a faster screen, refresh rate, which essentially means that the screen refresh is 90 times per second, which is really, really fast. I. Think it's actually supposed to be a Pok?mon wallpaper in here where you can like wave at it and stuff, and it uses its radar sensor to actually see it.

You're waving at it. So I'm going to go with this orange wallpaper because I like the fact that it sort of ties in with the orange power button on the side of the phone, which is a really cool detail, and that's actually one of my favorite things about this phone. The sort of playful industrial design you've got like I mentioned before this matte white glass back, which feels really nice and really premium. You've also got this matte black edge around the edge of the phone which is accented by this bright orange button and the color of the button changes depending on which color of phone you get. There's this matte white version, there's a matte orange version and then there's also a gloss black version which I think a lot of people's least favorite, because it gets awful fingerprints.

But, as you can probably tell the main detail on the back of this phone, is this giant square camera bump, which reminds me of the camera bump on the iPhone 11? And this was my least favorite part of the phone this camber bump and for some reason, Google just decided to do the same thing except the kind of weird thing about this camera bump is that it only features two cameras, unlike the iPhone 11, which has three cameras and if you somehow are watching my unboxing without seeing any of the other Google Pixel 4 videos that have been out for like a week at this point, which I kind of doubt, you wouldn't know that the two lenses in this phone are a telephoto and a standard which is kind of weird, because with most phones that have two lenses, one is a standard lens and the other is a wide-angle lens, because that's the more useful lens, or at least you would think. Instead, Google opted to use a 2 x, telephoto lens, which doesn't seem to do too much. I feel like you could just take four steps forward, and you would have the same effect but hey I, guess it just I, guess that's just a small gripe, because I don't really use the telephoto or the wide-angle lens on my standard phone, so I guess I, just don't really need it, but more on the positive side of things as I'm sure you're aware, the main draw of the Google Pixel for a lot of people is the camera, and the Google pics of for of course does also have an excellent camera like the pixel 3. This might be weird, but I'm going to take a picture of a picture. I mean hey.

It looks great, it is a picture of a picture, but it's a good-looking picture of a picture. No, but in all seriousness, I am really excited about trying out the camera on this phone and comparing it to the camera on my iPhone 11 Pro, which is my daily driver. Currently, in addition to taking just awesome, regular pictures, it apparently also has a really awesome night mode which rivals the iPhone, 11, and I've been really impressed with the iPhone 11 so far, and if you're a fan of star photography, or I guess astronomical photography, I don't know what to call it. But if you like that sort of stuff, you can put this phone down on the ground or on a tripod, face the camera up at the night sky, and it takes a really great picture of the Stars. Of course, it's much longer exposure, so you can't bump remove the camera at all, but apparently it comes out really.

Nice I, unfortunately, cannot try that because it's pouring rain outside, but the good news is if I did want to try, it wouldn't work so the clouds, but if I did want to try it. This has some pretty good waterproofing, so I should be okay. Some other notable features about this phone is its excellent and superfast face unlock. So as soon as you look at the phone it unlocks, you don't even have to swipe up like you do on the iPhone, which I think is pretty nice and the Google picks up for literally features a radar in the top of the phone, which means you can actually use your hand and wave it back and forth and swipe between songs or swipe between pictures or anything like that, and then one of my favorite features is that when the alarm goes off in this phone in the morning, you can actually just move your hand over the phone, and it turns the alarm off, which is pretty amazing. Another big draw of this phone is that it comes with stock Android because it comes directly from Google's, so you get updates first before everyone else.

So if you love vanilla Android because of its customized ability options, this is the phone to go with now. That being said, it's not cheap. It's a pretty expensive phone now, which is kind of unfortunate. The standard picks before the smaller pixel starts at $7.99 for 64 gigabytes of internal storage, which isn't a lot. Then, if you want to upgrade to 128 gigs, it's $8.99 and that's the largest capacity you can get if you want to opt for the larger Pixel 4 XL, which is what I did it starts at $8.99 for the 64 gigabyte version and then goes up to $9.99 for the hundred and twenty-eight gigabyte versions. So to be real, it's not a cheap phone.

But if you love vanilla, Android and you love some of the features that it comes with and especially the camera, it might not be a bad phone to grab a feature that I just found out about when I got this phone in hand. Is that if you squeeze the sides of it, it pulls up the Google Assistant, which is kind of crazy, and it's recording everything. I'm saying that's great. It actually did a great job of transcribing that that's every single word that I said perfect good job Google. So to compare the overall design of the pixel for Excel to the iPhone 11 Pro Max still hate that name.

You'll notice that the pixel for Excel is slightly longer, but actually slightly thinner. I wouldn't say that it's visibly thinner, but it's noticeably thinner in the hand and I much prefer the way this phone feels than this one, which I was kind of surprised by that also might have to do with the fact that the sides of the pixel for Excel are matte instead of glossy. So it feels like it just rests in my hand. A little easier. The screen of the iPhone 11 Pro Max is also bigger than the screen of the Pixel 4 XL, again, not noticeably, but it is slightly bigger.

Comparing the design language of these two phones, though the Pixel 4 XL, definitely feels a lot more playful, both visually, because it's got this crazy contrast, II, white and black makeup and then, of course, the bright orange button on the side. The iPhone 11 Pro Max, on the other hand, definitely feels like it's all business, and it also feels significantly heavier and I, actually don't think like the way to this phone I was so used to the way to the iPhone 11 Pro, but now that I'm holding the pixel for Excel. It just feels better. Overall, the Google Pixel for Excel is a pretty solid phone, especially in hand I like the way it feels I like the way it looks. I, don't love the forehead on the top of the phone.

That's something I could do without both on the phone and on my actual face um, but it's still not a deal-breaker I'm excited to keep playing with this phone and try out things like radar mode and the camera and see what this phone does really well, but so far I'm impressed it's not the cheapest phone in the world, but it's definitely a premium feeling phone and if you love vanilla, Android or you're a pixel fan. This is a great way to go. If, however, you're on a budget- and you can't afford the price of the new pixel 4 I would definitely suggest trying out some older pixels, because design-wise functionality, wise and camera wise, it definitely seems like more of an iterative improvement than an overall leap, but that pretty much wraps up the unboxing for today now I would love to know your thoughts on the Google Pixel 4 and whether it's a phone that you would consider picking up. So let me know in the comment section down below also when you're down there. Let me know what other stuff you'd like to see me unbox next, because I'm always on the lookout for things to unbox and as always, thank you so much for watching, don't forget to subscribe, and I'll see you all on the next one.
