The 5 WORST Tech Purchases I've Made *many regrets* 😢

Back then I was young and stupid, and it is the, and it is the way where did my fireplace go: hey guys, what's up, I'm Ella and welcome to my channel, where I make tech related videos. So today we're going to be talking about some past purchases that I have made. I have made some perfect purchases, but I've also made some very questionable ones. So in today's video I'm going to be telling you guys five of the worst tech purchases that I've ever made in my entire life so far that I hope to never ever make again, and I'm actually going to tell them to you guys in order, so I'm going to start from the worst pack purchase to the least worst. So that means that in just a second I'm going to tell you guys, the absolute worst tech purchase that I've ever made in my entire life. Up to this point- and I sincerely hope I never make this kind of mistake again- try to guess what this is going to be.

It might be a little shocking, and it is the MacBook Air. This is the um. I think it's a 2017 version, I think, but yeah. This is like the ancient MacBook Air. It looks like this um, it's honestly very iconic, I'm sure every single one of you watching this has seen a computer that looks like this before, okay, so the number one reason why this was just a stupid purchase is because of the bad timing.

So I think I got this in 2017, I'm not 100 sure it was either 2017 or 2018. I can't remember I got it sometime in high school and I swear like three months after I bought this thing: apple refreshed their MacBook airline and came out with a whole new design that is actually still used today. So, like obviously, the current MacBook Air doesn't look like this. This is the last generation MacBook Air to have this kind of design. All the MacBook airs after this one have a much better looking design.

In my opinion, they have much thinner, bezels and overall, it's just more modern. Looking like this one yeah this. This is just kind of ugly and the second reason why this purchase was just not a good one at all is because I put zero thought into what kind of specs I wanted back then I was young and stupid, and I didn't think that specs were important, so I just didn't think about like what kind of work I'll be doing on this laptop. How long I plan on keeping it for um. What else? How heavy is my workload going to be on this laptop? Is my workload going to change in the future, like these questions are questions that you need to think about when you buy a laptop and those just never cross my mind.

So this is actually the base model MacBook Air, but I will say that I actually do think that the base model MacBook Air was enough for me in high school and the reason is that I did nothing in high school. Like um, I read my online textbooks and wrote college essays, and that was it. I wrote way too many college essays. So, in terms of my very, very light workload in high school, the base model was enough for me. However, when I started university, this thing was not really enough for me anymore and the second worst purchase that I've ever made is yep.

These beats headphones. I think these are just the regular solo headphones. I don't think they're any like solo, 3, solo, 2, um, they're, just solo, and I think I got these around the same time that I bought my MacBook Air back. Then I just thought apple products were so cool. I was like oh my gosh beets.

They look so cool, they probably sound so good. I want a pair of beads so bad. That way, I can be like jamming to music on the school bus on the way to school. When I'm walking in between my classes, I'm going to be so cool yeah, no um. These beats they're they're horrible.

The number one reason why I barely use This is because they just squeeze my head so hard, like they literally hurt to wear, and I don't even have like an normally big head. Like I think my head is pretty average size, but like these just like squeeze my head so hard and there were so many times when like I would get a slight headache after wearing these for a prolonged period. That's the number one reason why I hate these just like they're so uncomfortable to wear, and they don't sound great, like I thought, beats, would sound amazing. My music would sound so good, chef's, kiss quality, no um they're, very average, so yeah just bad purchase. Okay and the third bad purchase um.

Okay, this one like isn't that bad like it's, it's reasonable! It's not like my MacBook Air, where I just made a stupid choice and didn't think about what I was buying. I did think about what I was buying for this one, but it still wasn't a wise decision, and it is the sixth generation regular iPad. Okay, let me tell you guys a little backstory of why I decided to get this iPad, and it's because I fell down a rabbit hole of digital note-taking, so this was back in like 2017 2018 somewhere around that time like right now, digital note-taking is pretty popular, but back then like two to three years ago. It was really new. It was really novel.

Furthermore, it was like innovative at that time. Nobody around me took their notes. Digitally everyone was the traditional pen and paper. So when I first started seeing like videos on YouTube of digital note taking, I just thought it was the coolest thing ever, and I became obsessed with it. I was like I need to try this out for myself.

So then I started looking into buying an iPad and at that time I believe the iPad Pro already existed. It was out, but the iPad Pro is well expensive, and so I didn't want to like sort of buy an iPad Pro. What if I don't like digital note, taking what, if, like my teachers at my high school, don't want me to digital note. Take I just kind of thought about the potential problems, so then I decided that the iPad Pro was like too big of a risk. I guess, if I don't end up using my iPad to take notes digitally then I would have like wasted 800 on an iPad Pro.

Instead, I should test it out on the cheaper budget I've had, and so, if I don't like it, I only wasted like three to four hundred dollars instead of like 800 right. So I guess, like that reasoning is, is fine, like I don't criticize my past self for having that kind of reasoning. So basically I bought this budget iPad because I wanted to save money. I didn't want to risk losing money, but in reality I ended up losing money on this purchase because I use this iPad for less than a year before I got my iPad Pro um. The iPad Pro is just like so much better in so many ways than the budget iPad.

I really just should have bought the iPad Pro straight up, pretty sure this was already out and not like bought this like tester budget device first and then buy this one, because I just like wasted money on this thing that I no longer use. Luckily, I do have a younger sister. So now this iPad is hers but like if I didn't have a younger sister, this would have been a huge waste of money. Okay and now for my fourth bad purchase. Um, it is my phone, so this phone is the Huawei p30 phone.

It is not the P30 Pro I'm fine with this phone, like I don't hate it, but definitely for my next phone. I am not going to buy from Huawei again and the reason is that they're just some weird compatibility issues like, for example, if I want to transfer photos from my phone to my computer, I have to do it through this, like special app that Huawei made. I can't just plug my phone into my laptop and transfer files. That way and every single time I have to like enter a code. It's just like three extra unnecessary steps, every single time, and it's kind of annoying.

So that's just like one instance of like weird compatibility issues, and the second reason is that there is no Google Assistant. There is a smart assistant built into this phone. It's popped up a couple of times. I can't remember what it's called, but it speaks Chinese, and I don't know if I can change it to English or not. I haven't investigated, and I actually got this phone pretty recently.

Furthermore, I got it in uh the summer of 2019 and the reason why I got this is because that summer I had traveled to China. Furthermore, I did a lot of traveling with my relatives. Furthermore, I remember back then like Huawei was like the brand in China and all of my relatives, mostly like their Huawei phone as well. They told me that it was. You know great.

It has amazing cameras, so I was like pretty sold. I was like okay, like I am kind of bored with iPhone at that point. I have been using iPhones for six years and I really wasn't sure if I wanted to stick with the iPhone, because I also had issues with the iPhone, so I was open to switching to android. So then um I bought this phone in China and actually another thing that kind of sold me on this song. This is kind of stupid is like how pretty it is like.

I have to admit. The back of this phone is beautiful. Oh my gosh, it's actually so pretty, but yeah like. Overall, I don't hate my phone, and I'll probably stay with it for another year or two okay, this one. I wasn't sure if I wanted to include this in the video, but it is yeah.

It is my MacBook Pro 16 inches. Okay, so I know many of you are probably very confused like how can you regret buying your MacBook Pro 16 inches, especially when you just bought it six months ago? Okay, so let me just first say that when I decided to buy this macro pro, I did not make the same mistake that I did when I bought my first MacBook Air, which was just not thinking at all. I definitely put a lot of thought into what kind of specs I wanted. What kind of laptop in general I wanted to when I was looking into buying a new laptop, and I decided on the 16-inch MacBook Pro with um the specs that it has. If you like this video, please give it a thumbs up, and I have some links in the description that you can check out as well.
