T-Mobile HTC Shadow (2009) Unboxing & Review

Guys welcome back to another video of tony's phone collection. Today we will be doing the unboxing review and ringtones and wallpapers of the HTC shadow, the 2009 edition, which would be the second generation of the shadows. Um. Let me grab the first shadow, so we can do a comparison with it. Okay, so I got the first in real quick, so we compare it when we get it out so on the front of the sleeve inside the phone there's the top. The bottom has a cutout for the sticker, there's that side and then the back pull the sleeve off the phone.

Here's the actual box, as you can see, there's the top. This is what's inside, we're going to go through that when we open it the other side, there's the IMEI sticker that you've seen in the back two megapixel video and music sharing messaging. One click calendar Wi-Fi web browser. This one does support Wi-Fi hotspot, my face compatible, and then it runs windows, mobile 6.1 inside the phone or the box of the phone. We have our manuals.

We have our user guide, getting started and having fun. A little brochure shows you how to uh set up the phone install a sim card and all that stuff terms and conditions. Uh return policy, as well as limited warranty, Microsoft, software license terms and conditions for mobile 6 or windows. Mobile 6 offer so basically all the green paper that you're going to be doing and then the CD with the uh code. I guess it's actually a trial, that's prior to being used at this point, 297 here's the device we'll set that down.

Here's that looks like we got a sim card actually with this device. I won't be opening that I'd like to keep it new here is a proprietary HTC um, it's actually a mini USB, but it's kind of that one, but a rounded edge, um adapter. So this is going to be your three and a half two and a half, and then your uh wired, HTC and charging, and actually that's for your headphones as well- and this is your charging one right here, so you can do both at one double dominant uh, USB data cable. Once again, proprietary HTC to USDA. You have a carrying case which will go on open because it's uh resealable, it is a leather pouch.

I don't know it's leather, it's got this nice texture to it, though the phone would slide in there. It's kind of a little one side open here is the battery. I'm going to take a look at that in a second proprietary uh adapter right there, as well with your click button to call and hang up and as well as your volume slider, it's actually a little wheel, ear tips up here for the foamier there's the battery, I'm going to open it up. It is a 1100 William hour battery, it's supposed to provide seven hours of talk time and 158 hours on standby, from a single charge. And, lastly, we have our proprietary HTC charger, and here it is, let's see it had an output of 1 amp 5 volts, so that I'm going to slide all that over here.

Here's our device, let me grab the T-Mobile sim card. I have worked that cover slides up. Our sim card will go up in here and that's how you pull it down. You'd use this little metal slider to pull it down, insert our battery right there and then our back cover just like that. So it's going to compare these two real quick.

I hate to pull this off, but we're going to have to sticking on the box. So comparing it to the first in it's a little more rounded, as you can tell, the charging port has moved to the bottom. Instead of on the side, the SD card slot is actually still in the same spot. This phone could handle up to an 8 gigabyte, SD card. It had megabytes of on-board storage.

No SD card was included. I don't think yep no SD card included in the box uh that should be pretty much a compared to it. Power button has moved as well. It looks like from the original and then, as you can see, the back has changed a lot. I prefer the uh, the newer style.

Actually, I think it looks a lot better compared to the original sliding it up. You can see the uh shadow labeling and the keyboard. It's still that uh cord sure type keyboard. That kind of blackberry used for a while it's going to give it a first boot and power keys up here now it has a 2.6 inch front display with 240 by 320 pixels. It does have a 2 megapixel rear camera that does video at 320.

By from your bright there's, your speaker cut out as well. You see the phone is booted up now, let's go and take a tour around the device. On the other side, you have your volume rockers, your micro SD card slot on the slider piece of the phone lanyard strap here is your charging port and your headphone port. I said it is proprietary. You have a camera key on the right side as well as an uh recent buttons, I'm pretty sure, is what it was.

That would be a messaging key right there. So like a shortcut key, and then you also have your power key on the top set on the back. You have the camera, your no flash as well just a camera. Your speaker cut out on the front. You have your front display, as I was telling you about.

There is a LED flash up here as well or a LED indicator. Soft keys home key back key, sending and key your little squirrel wheel right here and your center click button and that keypad it is a rubbish looking key. It does light up in. I think white. Actually, it lights up on this one, these keys light up.

I can't get the actual keypad to light up, so there it is. Let's go and uh take a look through the button does click as well. If you don't like to scroll, I guess it doesn't show you. I might just sit there for a second, that's pretty weird. Actually there we go.

Oh, I should just work this way literally using uh that'd be a lot easier. We just do it the other way, but okay looks like there is some uh downloaded ringtones on here as well. It looks like that won't be able to use like that one. I know for a fact or get copyright struck, so we'll have to watch out what we use. So listen I'll go back.

Actually there we go hey son, your ego is: writing checks, your body can't cash. If you want to rock you have to break the rules, you have to get mad at the man and right now, I'm the man. So okay go past that one there we go so, ah all right! So we're back to where we started on that one. Let's go ahead and take a look at the wallpapers. I never liked windows mobile at all so yeah.

I guess you have to literally click one by one to show them that's a lot of wallpapers. Sorry, I don't think we're going to be doing the wallpapers on this phone. Um yeah, I don't know, Windows 6 has never been my favorite. I am looking over at this shadow one, and I can tell how much that uh center button has changed. I can imagine that was probably really hard to use all the time compared to the newer style, and so you do get Wi-Fi go to connection manager turn on Wi-Fi.

Furthermore, I wonder if it will. Let me connect and go on the web. I see there. It is, I mean, a password and see if we can get it to work. Let's see real quick, it'd be kind of cool if you can get on the web.

Still, I'm not sure. If you'll connect to my Wi-Fi, though it is loading, as you see all right, okay, it's connected. Let's see if we can go on the web on this thing, looks like using Internet Explorer. Let's see what our in here should I say our favorites are: let's go to uh google. Here we go.

com all right guys. I'm going to try WWW dot, but I don't think you'll need it yeah. I don't know. Let's just try, google, I guess. If that don't work well, then maybe it doesn't work on the web.

Still maybe the Internet Explorer has been uh out of data now yeah, okay. Well, we tried it does connect to Wi-Fi still um, I'm going to go ahead and take a couple photos, and I'll insert them right here, and then we can see how that goes. Actually, maybe these are the uh pre-loaded photos. Actually this would be kind of cool if this would work. Let's take a look all right, it looks like there's a couple more still: that's a video, my bad flex of arms, all the way up, all right, so that was it.

I was like the shortest video ever, and we're back to the beginning. I'm going to go and take a couple photos, and I'll, hopefully be able to put them in here, and we'll see what it looks like guys. Okay, this is a video with the HTC shadow 2. Very jerky, as you would expect of only a 2 megapixel camera to focus right there, there's the HTC shadow one. So here's some quick photos.

I took um. I will go ahead and try to also stitch these in to the video there's also a little video. Hopefully we can see everything works right. Um, let's see what else we take a look at some pre-installed games, uh, bubble, breaker and solitaire. That's pretty much it for this review guys.

I think- and you see that it is connected to my Wi-Fi so hope you guys enjoyed this video. I was going to push this down and stay tuned for the next one.
