Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Unboxing | First Impression with S-PEN

Hi guys this is rogered Rahman from tectonic, and this here is the galaxy before 3 5g um. So I ordered this I think last week, um, I was expecting it well. I guess everyone was expecting to get it on the 27th of august um. But yesterday I got an email saying I'm getting it one week earlier, which was a know, big surprise, because normally um, I'm quite unlucky with things like this, and it ends up getting delayed for me. Um and I ended up getting it like a week later so yeah getting it a week, early um, a very pleasant surprise. Indeed.

So you can see this box here. It's very slim um, not unlike what we had in the past and I guess that's an indicator of um there being less in the box, we'll see a little later on. Once I open this up. So you can see this is a two-toned box. Um you've got sort of black on the top and uh gray um, or slightly lighter black on the bottom um.

So this is the phantom black version um, and it's the 256 gigabyte version with 12 gigabytes of ram. Now I could have got the 512 gigabyte version uh for the same price uh, because there was a coupon available that you, you know you put that into the website, and it drops 100 pounds off um, but I ended up getting that email with that coupon code, 27 minutes after I ordered the phone, so it was useless for me anyways. Let's get to actually opening this box up and see what's inside another one here came off pretty easily and straight away. You've got the fold all right. Let's put that aside for a second, let's see what else is inside, so you've got this little black envelope.

The USB c to USB c, cable, quick, start guide, a warranty card and a sim ejector tool. So yet this fold is definitely gonna, be my main driver. I'm going to be using it for the next year until the next tenfold comes out um. So I will be switching my sim over to this phone a little later on um. That's it no power plug yeah.

I know I mean I'm not surprised, because obviously I knew it wasn't going to be included um, but let's just come on. Why you're paying so much for a phone like this, and you're not giving a power plug? Why just include it, but you know I guess the argument is that most people have a power plug at home. So uh, you know you don't really need one. Apparently, let's get this open, so I mean to be honest. You know I've got the fog too.

So looking at this at first glance it doesn't feel like it's a big difference. I mean yes, the know the back is slightly different. You can see here it's on the zed fold too. It was more of a glossy fingerprint magnet, whereas here you've got this sort of frosted um. You know glass, so fewer reflections less fingerprints, although you can sort of spot some here already, not as much as uh the before too.

Obviously so, let's fold, this first feel what the hinge is like. That hinge definitely feels a bit smoother and solid at the same time, if that makes sense, let's get this thing powered on. So this inner screen, it's uh, 7.6 inches and, of course, the front screen here is 6.2 inches, which is, I think, just slightly smaller than the z-fold 2 um. Probably by or is it zero point, zero three or two inches so yeah, it's very minimal. I mean you won't notice the difference, so you might as well say it's negligible.

It does feel slightly lighter now, when I say slightly lighter it's only 11 grams less, so this one weighs 271 grams as opposed to the zfo2, which weighs 282 grams um. But surprisingly, I can sort of feel the difference. I don't know if that's just a placebo, you know just knowing that this is lighter, but yeah. It does feel a little lighter to me, so this particular device. It's again, you know, since we're talking about less and this one's 11 grams, less other things that are less.

You also get 100 my less battery capacity on this um than the know. Previous version, this one's got 4400 my, we'll have to see how that translates over to the actual day-to-day usage yeah. That hinge feels good. Of course, you can see you can leave it at different angles, which is pretty cool. So let me quickly set this up now I'll just log into my wireless network, and we are connected, come on, don't want an update.

Hopefully there isn't an update hate when you have an update right out of the box, because you just want to get started. You know I'll cut this stuff out of the video, because I'm sure you don't want to wait for this to complete. We actually, while that's happening, we can go through the hardware. So, of course, like the zo2, you've got your fingerprint sensor and power button combined here. You've got the volume buttons here, um around the back or so at the bottom.

You've got your USB c. Connector you've got one of two of your stereo speakers, so you've got here. You know one at the bottom and of course, you've got one at the top as well to get that stereo sound. You also seem to have on the left side of the phone, the actual sim slot, so you'll need to use the sim ejector tool supply to obviously take that one out around the back. Let's close it again around the back, you have the three camera set up here: they're, supposedly exactly the same as the previous version, all three uh 12 megapixels.

Of course, you've got a wide, a telephoto and an ultra-wide just like before around the front, so the front cover camera. This is the one that's uh, I don't know if you can see it here, but this is the one that is 10 megapixels now what's different about this particular device. Are you now have an under screen camera now that camera? I don't know if you can see it here, I can sort of see it. It's a little pixelated. So the pixel density around here is a lot less than the know.

Rest of the screen, um and that's to your know, allow enough light to go through to be able to capture that image. So this is a four megapixel camera, but we'll have to test it out to see how well that performance- and you know upon um, looking at or watching other videos online, most reviewers that have used. It has already said it's not great, but we'll see how that is later skip that for now, so here are all the instructions to take care of the phone. Of course, the fold free like its predecessors, it's a lot more fragile than your typical phone, so yeah just make sure you follow these instructions, and we're all set. Of course, you do have that crease there in the middle, which looks exactly the same as it did on the before 2, it's not worse, but it hasn't been improved either, and it's one of those things.

You only notice at an angle, as you can see here. So if you're looking at it face on um, it just becomes invisible, and it shouldn't distract you when you're watching content so yeah I mean it's as you'd expect right. So this phone is running on snapdragon, 8 um, so you know you'd expect it to be pretty fast. It's got 12 gigabytes of ram, so it should be able to handle multiple apps at the same time. Another thing I noticed, which was pretty cool, was now you can have the same app side by side.

So, for instance, you know I could have Facebook on one side and just like you probably have on Windows um. I could, you know open up another tab as a new window um, but that option is not here. So you know I did see someone else on YouTube. Do that, so it's a bit weird, definitely sure it's possible because I've seen it being done. So, of course, you know at first glance this phone of this, the before 3.

It doesn't look or feel that much different from the before 2. So even at second glance, you probably won't notice these differences. So what are the differences? So, of course obviously, like I said the first one is this under screen camera and if we go on to something that's a bit brighter white background, you can sort of see that and zoom in just right. There shouldn't be able to see the camera punch, or you know, get in the way of the video come on immersive. So of course, the other difference between this and the z-fold 2 is that this is ipx8 water-resistant up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes now bear in mind that x means it's, not dust resistant, so you know, or it's not sand resistant either. I guess and the reason why I say it's not sand resistant.

I have to take this phone uh to Brent cross beach yesterday and there was lots of sandy, and I just didn't take the phone out of my pocket. You know I didn't want to take the risk um. So with the new phone uh, you wouldn't want to take that risk either, because it's not dustproof um. You could end up getting fine, um particles in through the hinge and then that could and then that can create issues uh like it has in the past, where we've seen you know on social media, people's screen getting messed up, so yeah don't take it to the beach uh. It is like I said waterproof, so that's cool um.

I used to worry when it was raining. I wouldn't use this phone in the rain um, but now I guess I can rest assured, knowing that I can use this one when it's raining, it'll still work um. You know a lot of people have asked, and I've seen this being mentioned on YouTube um by a lot of reviewers. I guess and I've seen the comments. How is it that this can be waterproof and not dustproof at the same time? Um you know it can stop water from coming in, but it can't stop dust.

Why is that now? I think it's not that war can't get in it's that they've made it more. You know the components inside they probably use some sort of coating to stop water from damaging uh the internal part, so water still gets in it just doesn't damage the parts if that makes sense, and now if water can go in, of course, dust can go in as well, and that's not what you want now. Of course, this device also has pen support. Now, if you want to get the pen, you need to order it separately, or you can get this note package for the galaxy tenfold free, which I'll be unboxing a little later on. If you want to see that subscribe, but, like I said this fold uses an s pen which you can buy separately.

So let's see how that works. So here we have the s pen, fold edition, which would normally cost you 44 quid separately, but if you buy the Samsung headphone free starter kit for 79 quid you'll also get this flip cover case, where you can sort of slide that into and keep it there. If you want to do that, if you care about the pen functionality yeah, I mean it feels like a normal s pen and I thought that screen would feel a lot softer. But while we're on that, it actually feels more like glass than it ever has. So it's definitely you know much more durable.

Now I guess especially if you believe what Samsung says and going by so using it and touching the screen. It definitely feels more solid. Now, let's see if we can find some sort of note-taking up, hopefully they've included something some notes. It does have that hover functionality right. You can see that appear.

When you go close to the screen, you don't have to necessarily touch the screen. It makes this sort of scribbling sound or a sound. A pencil would make when you're you know drawing on paper, not to follow that. So that's pretty cool. I think it works as you'd expect uh.

You know. Normally these pens tend to be pressure sensitive, but I don't know how much I would want to push onto that screen. Um. You know I'm just not sure. If you put too much pressure, it might damage the screen.

So yeah I mean people who draw a lot or do are you might be a bit wary when you're using this um, but you can sort of apply a bit more pressure. It seems to be fine, don't know why I wrote there now. Another thing I like to try out: does the pen work over the camera here? Of course, it's not going to work there. One might be silly. If I do that, does it work on the camera area? No wait, it does wow, so it does work on the come right here.

Perfect, that's pretty cool and of course, is it as bad using the s pen over the crease. I can't feel like I don't. I can't feel the crease there, I'm sort of going over it. Hey! It's cool, didn't expect that I seriously thought that when you run your pen over it you'd feel it. But you can't, it's very subtle.

You can feel it now that I'm really concentrating, but it's very subtle, so yeah, that's the galaxy z43 um like I said it doesn't look much different from the z42, but a lot has changed. If you like what you saw then please subscribe and like and of course, if you guys have seen any of my videos, you'll know that I create a lot of content, uh tailored to uh the zed fold or this folding phone. So I do buy accessories and game pads and test it out with the fold and see if it works with this phone factor. So if you want to see videos like that, please subscribe, and I may also do other comparisons like a speed test uh between these two devices, the z402 and the Medford free. So if you want to see that again, please subscribe thanks for watching guys.

This is rogered Rahman from tectonic, see you guys later stay safe. This has been AJU Rahman from tectonic thanks for watching. If you enjoyed this video, and it helped you please subscribe and like that, would really help me out and don't forget to check out these other videos too. You.
