Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 - Ready To Be Your Daily Driver?

I have to tell you I'm pretty excited. We uh got a chance to get in the new Samsung folding phones, both the full three and the flip three we're having a look uh today at the new Samsung Galaxy zed full three. I know that's a bit of a mouthful and uh gonna talk about some uh, the new aspects of it and even give a little comparison to the old fold too. Really not that old. I think it's only about a year old, but I've been using that for more than a year now, so I've had a chance to actually put it through its paces. I can tell because it's covered in your fingerprints that we can't even wash off you just stop.

You know scrubbing hard enough more elbow grease so right off the bat john uh. Did you notice much different? I mean they still have the same kind of uh. I guess hardware here. As far as the look and feel here, the one big difference, I noticed off the bat was just the uh, the hinge. I mean it's not a huge difference, but if you put these uh two up side by side, you'll notice that the hinge on the new fold three is a little slimmer, uh tighter and not as snake yeah, it's not as rounded either it's more squared off a little so yeah.

I do like the new one yeah. Furthermore, I do uh. Furthermore, I do like this particular color as well. It's got the matte finish on the back, which is kind of uh, something all the new colors that they have are really nice. Sadly, we didn't get the green one, but I know you're, mr green uh, something else interesting about the new uh fold three here, and you might not be able to see it but uh.

There is a camera, of course, on the screen, but it's basically underneath the screen uh, which is a departure from pretty well every other phone on the market. Right now, so we've had a chance to take a few pictures with it, they're pretty good. I couldn't really tell a difference myself but uh. I do like the fact that they've kind of hidden it now some people have said with photos taken through that um. It's like you're shooting through something right, because you are um, but you know it's pretty good.

It's a selfie camera, so yeah I mean. Am I trying to win photography awards with that particular camera? No, I would much rather use the uh the back cameras here, definitely so yeah uh. The screen apparently is also 80 stronger compared to the previous model, and I'm just I'm still amazed at you know how they can make these so strong, like it's folding, glass, yeah, you'd, think that this would break so easily, but well it just gets stronger with every uh iteration. Even yours I mean there's no noticeable um fold, no pun intended on the screen. I mean there is a little of a slight little.

You can only see it when you're kind of flashing it under a light, but if you're using it, and you've, got it on, and you're reading web pages and stuff uh like within seconds, you don't even notice it anymore, essentially yeah. Apparently, the screen is also 30 brighter than the previous uh incarnation of this year, and they're using uh dual 120 megahertz uh, refresh rates variable refresh rate. So when you really want to get into reading some good web pages and text, you get it right up there to 120 megahertz, but if you want to save battery it'll automatically go down to 60 hertz, the other big thing: water resistance rating. I think that's a big deal, ip8 ipx8 x8! I can't keep track of all of them, so that's not full waterproof. It's basically water resistant yeah, so you're not going swimming with this.

No! No! No! But if it did take a quick dunk or get splashed it'll be fine in the rain, you're, probably fine, yeah, but overall um. I think it's its a beautiful piece of hardware. It just comes down to do you want that full-size tablet when you fold it up, you know they've come a long way since the very first folding phones here, but it's still it's kind of thick in your pocket. It is a little. So you just have to ask yourself: do you mind that in your pocket to get the big 7.6-inch screen, and before I forget the big deal on this? Is it supports s pen now as well? Yes, which, unfortunately, we don't have one to show you that functionality, but the nice idea is that you can actually just you know, put it down like this. You can draw down there.

You can have it side by side, so you can take notes while you're scrolling, through your emails or something like that lots of options and again, like you, said this more durable screen. Furthermore, you can now write on yeah it'll, be interesting to see what they do with the note line: they're not making it uh this year uh. But now you can have an s pen for the uh, the fold three and also on the s21 ultra as well. So the only thing is that it doesn't have a place for the pen yeah, so you're, looking you're going to have to get some kind of case for it. That will have that support, because you'll never lose that pen right on that.

That's why we don't have one with us right now, because I lost the other one um, the price, john, it's its, the big factor still right. Yes, so 22.69 22.69, Canadian, which is about 500 less than it was for this one. Yes, so that's that's a pretty significant. What do you think the magic price on? Well, obviously, you know 200 right, but what's the magic price is? What do you think? The tipping point is for this. Well, the trick is with this is it's its not a flagship phone from a specs' perspective yeah, but it's a flagship experience right, because you've got this cool, folding tech and that kind of stuff.

It's a tablet. It's a phone! Furthermore, it's a tablet's phone like you know so, you're paying a premium for that, but not the same kind of premium, you'd pay for a flagship model, so I think it should be at least in line with the flagship. But basically you know your flagship's over here the folds over here. It's a trade-off. You get the folding tech instead of the better camera or the better processor that type of stuff right like, so there's always a trade-off for that.

So it's still a little too much for my blood. It is yeah yeah, so 2269, Canadian, that's for the base.256 model yeah and I believe, they've got it to the 2000 price point in the US, which I think is kind of more of a magic price point. You know psychologically for a lot of people yeah, but for me, I think they'd have to get it down to 1500 bucks. That's what I'm saying like roughly around the flagship pricing point right uh! You know! Maybe it's a little cheaper on sale, or they throw in some buds or something like that right. So, but yeah, the price is still a little high for this type of tech.

You really have to want this, and you know this was last year's model, and it's still holding up great. Oh, it's been beautiful, john yeah, but so I guess for me: if you've got the money, it's definitely a phone to look at and especially now that it's more durable. It's got the water resistant rating, and it has the s pen support, because now it actually makes it more of a productivity tool now something that you could use for work yeah, and we should talk about the fact that they've actually done a lot of work to make sure that the software behaves better in this sort of split screen, folding environment from a know, multitasking perspective, but also just how apps take advantage of the strange orientations that happen when you fold the screen exactly uh. So what do you think leave the comments down below? Would you spend this much money for a folding screen phone, slash tablet or what price do you think it has to get to and make sure that you do hit the notification button for any of the new videos that we have coming out, and we have lots of other great Samsung videos for you to check out as well, including the galaxy zed flip 3, which might be a little more in your price range? You.
