Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus Review

Let's take a look at the Samsung Galaxy tab, s7 plus- and this is going to be my full review of this product now, first and foremost, I do want to show you everything that does come in the box. So, let's start with that now, when it comes with what comes in the box, we do have the tablet itself, and I'll get into that a little later and then, alongside that, you do actually have a pen and this pen is included at no additional cost. So it is going to be free and that's actually really great, because that is some added value to the price of this tablet. And then, after that you do get a charger and here's the charger right here. It's just your standard, fast charger, nothing too uh fast or nothing too amazing, and it does have an USB a port on it. So it's USB a to USB and the cable does come with this charger.

But it is your standard charger, nothing too crazy here in the box, for the charger. However, this tablet does support speeds, all the way up to 45 watt and I actually do have the fast charger, and this is the one that's from Samsung. Officially, there are a couple of different things to note about this right away. You can see that this charger is much bigger than the one that comes in the box. Another thing is, this thing isn't free, and it is expensive for what it is.

It is 50, alongside the purchase of the tablet, if you would like faster speeds, and then another thing to take notice of this charger is the fact that it does use USB instead of your standard, USB a port. So it's USB, two USB on the 45 watt charger and yes, just like the regular charger in the box, it does come with a cable as well, but here it is right here the beefier 45 watt charger, which you can buy separately and that's pretty much everything that does come in the box. Now, let's take a closer look at the tablet itself and run over all the specs and all the things about this. Now, when it comes to the Galaxy Tab s7, they actually make two different models of this tablet. They make a standard tab s7, which is an 11 inch, and then they also make a tab, s7 plus, which is 12.4 inches, and that's the one you're currently looking at on camera, and then, when it comes to a color options, they do make three different colors of this tablet. They make a silver bronze and a black.

The one that you're currently looking at on camera is actually the black variant of this tablet, which is uh interesting and then, when it comes to pricing, this thing actually runs you for the base model for the s7 plus 849, and then it goes up from there and the base model does come with 128 gigs. You can get a 256 model or a 512 model. If you want just note, this thing does have a SD card expansion slot, and it will take up to one terabyte of storage if you would like to buy an additional micro SD card now when it comes to specs of this thing, it is running a snapdragon 865 plus with six gigs of ram. However, if you do buy the 256 or 512 variant of this tablet, you do get eight gigs of ram instead of six gigs of ram and then, when it comes to the OS, when this thing first initially launched back in august 2020, it did come with android 10, but now it is upgraded to android 11 at the very moment, and that is the latest and greatest from android, and it does also have on top of android 11 Samsung, one UI 3.0 and then for the battery. We're talking about a very big battery and the battery is roughly 10 000 Williams, which should get you uh through the day and then for the cameras.

It does have three different cameras on here. The back camera is going to be 13 megapixels, which shoots 4k video. I think at 30 frames per second and then alongside that one, you also have an ultra-wide on the back, which is 5 megapixels, and it also has a flash on the back as well and then for the front facing camera. We actually have an eight megapixel uh shooter uh on the front and then for the display, we're talking about again a 12.4 inch uh display on the front with a resolution of 2800 by 1752, which is super AMOLED, and it also supports 120, hertz, refresh rate on the screen, with a PPI or pixels per inch of 266, and now let's actually go ahead and look around the tablet really quickly. Also, this tablet does have a quad stereo setup when it comes to the sound and when it comes to the speakers but right away, you can see here's the back of the tablet and there is some branding on the back of the tablet.

You can see at the top left or my hands moving, it says Samsung and then on the bottom. It does say AKG, and then you can see on both sides of the tablet. They do have some antenna lines I did forget to mention this does support Bluetooth, 5.0 and Wi-Fi six as well, and then there is a black strip right there and that black strip, where the cameras are actually laying right there. It does actually allow you to charge the s pen, because, unfortunately, the s pen does need charged to use some features, but if the s pen ever dies, you can still write on the screen like you would normally do so. Don't worry about the pen dying, it's just that some features will be uh off limits to you.

The only thing I don't like about this charging solution or the way the panhandle is on there is. I do not recommend putting this in a backpack or putting it somewhere where it may get bumped around, because this thing can easily fall off the magnets right there when you actually have it charging or if you're, trying to transport it and then once it easily gets knocked off you're going to lose it. So I wouldn't recommend putting it there because you may end up losing it. Yes, you have to charge it there, but when you're done charging, I don't recommend storing it there. Unless you know you're not going to be touching the tablet at all, and the pen in my situation only takes about five minutes to charge, give or take a little, and you're pretty much done, and the battery pretty much lasts a very long time.

So you rarely need to charge the battery on the s pen, which is actually pretty nice. Now on one side of the tablet you do have some Poco pins and those polka pins are going to be for accessories like the smart keyboard that you can buy uh separately with this tablet. This thing is also made out of a brushed aluminum material. It feels very premium in the hands easily and then on the bottom of the tablet. You do have an USB type c port, of course, for charging the tablet or for doing things like using accessories, and then you do have uh four uh quad speakers.

You have two speakers on the bottom and two speakers on the top. It does have microphones on this thing. If you want to record your voice or take calls or whatever the case may be, and then you do have a couple of buttons, you do have your on off. Slash sleep! Wake button right there you have a volume rocker to change the volume of the tablet, and then you also do have a slot for your micro SD card. Just note: it's not really easy accessible, because it's pretty much like a sim tray slot, where you have to take a little pin and push it in and pop it out, but it is what it is, and it is in there if you want a micro, SD card slot and yeah.

That's pretty much everything on the tablet outside the back of the tablet and the back of the tablet does have three different cameras: again, a standard lens, an ultra-wide and then a flash as well- and here is the front of the tablet. You can see it's pretty much a bezel-less design, there's pretty much, no big forehead or chin. It's pretty much a symmetrical uh bezel around the actual screen and then, of course, at the top. You do actually have your uh front facing camera or quote unquote, selfie camera on the front and let's go ahead and unlock this and actually look around the tablet itself. Just like I was saying before at the beginning of the video.

This is running android 11 and let me go into settings to actually verify that this is android 11, so you can get kind of an idea of what we're actually working with here. As you can see right here on camera, this is the android 11 uh screens for android 11. I can go ahead and play with it and just mess around, but this is the android 11 screens. Now, of course, when you get this out of the box, you may still be running old, android 10, so I highly recommend upgrading it as fast as possible when you get this thing, but let's first start off with the main attraction of this whole tablet, and that would definitely be the screen of this thing. I think the screen is absolutely the best feature of this thing: hands down if you want the best screen on any tablet or any device.

This definitely has you covered. I mean this is a super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800 by 1752. It also has a PPI of 266, which is actually pretty comparable to any of the iPads, but just the fact it is super AMOLED instead of LCD or led, it definitely kills the competition for sure if you're a person that watches a lot of videos and watches a lot of content, this screen is definitely going to be your best friend. This screen is absolutely amazing. Just note on camera you're not releasing the whole effect of the actual screen, because my camera can't really pick up the super AMOLED, but just take my word for it.

A lot of the blacks are very black. A lot of the colors are very over saturated and for most people that makes a very good viewing experience. Of course, there are some downsides to that, and that would definitely be if you do a lot of artwork or if you need the screen to be very accurate, like maybe you're doing things like uh photo editing, and you need things to be super accurate, you're, pretty much uh not going to like super AMOLED, but I think for most people out there looking at videos looking at content just using the tablet. Definitely this has an amazing screen and I also love the fact too. I love the aspect ratio of this thing because if you compare this to things like the iPad Pro, the iPad Pro is great and all, but for things like watching videos, specifically that's where the iPad Pro falls short just because the aspect ratio is 4x3 and this one's more of a widescreen aspect ratio.

So when you watch a video, you get less black bars on the top and bottom, so this thing was really meant for watching videos for sure I also love the fact that again, this thing is has a symmetrical design. It really does feel like a modern design and if you were to buy this thing today, I really do think this thing would last you years, which is actually uh, very good and then the other thing I do love about this tablet for sure hands down definitely has to be the speaker system. Now I have compared this to things like the iPad Pro and especially the iPad Pro that came out last year, which is still the current one that apple sells, and when it comes to speakers, I actually find that the speakers may be a little richer and maybe a little louder with this compared to the iPad Pro, but we're not talking by a lot, but I did want to mention that, and I absolutely love the speakers on here. You will be pretty impressed with this thing, they're, so impressive. You don't need things like a Bluetooth speaker or anything like that.

I'm sure you can find better alternatives, but for the sound that comes out of this stock, it is amazing, very loud, very rich, if you're into an if you're, in a small, to medium room like a bedroom, it's going to fill that bedroom up with sound, and I'm telling you are going to be happy sure you may not get like the best bass or the best clarity out of it, but it for most people. It's going to sound good, and it's going to sound so good. You don't even need anything else, and I love, love the speaker situation on this thing, and I'm glad they finally went to quad stereo speakers. The stereo speakers on here are just so fun to actually listen to, and it is very a very uh, pleasant experience when it comes to the speakers and now, let's actually talk about performance of this thing, because this thing does come with a 120 hertz screen and I think that's where the experience on this thing is absolutely uh fantastic. I just think moving from screen to screen is very uh nice.

Let me go ahead and bring up a website. My regular website that I like to visit, I'm just going to go to the verge the tech website, and I'm just going to scroll around the screen, so you can get kind of an idea of how this thing actually feels and actually operates, uh to use. As you can see, I am moving my hand. It may be hard to see on camera, since my camera doesn't pick up the whole 120 hertz, but just take my word for it. This thing is very smooth and very buttery, no matter what you're doing I did notice for some reason right now, as you can see on camera, when I'm scrolling through this website, maybe you can't load it fast enough for a while, but sometimes you get some black.

You get some empty space where it's kind of like having to load the website, but for the most part, it's very smooth and very buttery, and with the six gigs of ram, this thing comes stock for the base model uh with 128 gigs of storage. This thing just flies through pretty much whatever uh you want to do. Yes, this may be an older processor as well. It may be the 865 and even though they're technically on the 888, I do believe this thing still holds up today and especially if you are buying a tablet. Specifically, that is an android tablet.

You can't get any better. I do believe. I still do think this is the king of all android tablets out there, even though it is a little outdated compared to its smartphone counterparts when it comes to what snapdragon has to offer, but again for most people. This thing is just an amazing experience. I've had multiple tabs open.

I've had games running in the background. Furthermore, I've been video editing, I've been doing a lot of things on this tablet and this thing just flies through pretty much whatever you can throw at it for sure, and I've really had no hiccups. Yes, I've had apps crash, and I've had it to where the tablet would lock up, but that's not really a huge deal, because that rarely happens and no matter what product you buy. You're always going to have a little hiccup here or there, where it may crash apps may crash and things like that. It's just common nature with any technology, no matter what the device is and how expensive it is, but for the most part, I'm very happy with the performance uh of this thing, which I'm actually very nice with, and then I do want to actually touch on one feature.

This thing actually does have, which could be a game changer for a lot of people and that is actually going to be DEX and if you're unfamiliar with Samsung DEX Samsung's DEX is pretty much a version of uh windows per se. It doesn't do everything. Windows can do it's far from that, but it really resembles a windows type experience. Let me go ahead and actually open up decks for you. Now you can use decks on a TV, or you can use decks natively from the tablet itself.

You can just click a button, and it automatically goes uh into deck. So let's go ahead and load up decks, so DEX is pretty much another operating system. So you have two operating systems built on here. You have regular android, and then you have DEX and DEX is pretty much an operating system. You primarily want to use if you're going to be maybe uh doing a lot of productivity.

If you're doing a lot of productivity, then this is where it's really going to get nice. You can see right here this pretty much resembles a windows experience you can see. You have all your applications at the top like a normal Windows computer at the bottom. Furthermore, you have more of your applications. Furthermore, you also have windows.

Let me go ahead and bring these uh windows up. So you can see exactly uh. What I'm talking about right here really quickly and the nice thing about DEX is to any application that is made for android will work index, and you will also get them in window mode. You can see. I do have two different windows open like a traditional uh Windows computer.

Now, when it comes to decks, you can actually control it with your fingers, which I highly don't recommend. DEX was really built for the keyboard case, or it was built for a keyboard and a mouse to really connect to this. So if you have one connected to this tablet, that's where I really do think DEX is going to shine and if you're a person that does a lot of multitasking or does a lot of work related stuff. I think that's where DEX really does shine, but for everybody else, that's what we have android for, so it's nice. They do give us that flexibility of DEX or android.

I just really wanted to show you that off if you're, not aware of DEX index is only going to get better throughout the years and with that 865 processor, I've been able to have so many windows open, eight nine, ten windows, and it's really been an awesome experience for me when it actually comes to the decks uh experience- and I guess now I actually want to talk about uh, the pros and cons of this thing and pretty much wrap up my uh video of the Galaxy Tab, s7 plus now, when it comes, I guess to the pros of this tablet. I will have to say: the highlight of this tablet are gonna, be the speakers, but more so going to be the screen. If you want the best screen hands down, and you especially want a screen, that's going to be good for video watching. I highly recommend this tablet for sure you're not going to be disappointed. The only thing I'm not really a fan of is how the tablet space is becoming a little closer to expensive laptops.

I'm not really a fan of this thing costing 800 and like 49 dollars. I do believe for the base model, s7 plus, and it's kind of sad if you do go with the regular s7 instead of the tab. S7 plus, you are kind of getting a downgrade just due to the fact that you're not getting a super ammo LED display, which pops, which makes everything rich you're getting a standard LED screen, and I'm just not a fan of that which is a kind of unfortunate and for what these things do. They still won't be traditional laptops or tab. Excuse me, they won't be traditional computers, whether it's a desktop or a laptop.

In terms of functionality, and that's why it's kind of hard for me to recommend these things also, when they're getting into territories of 800 to like a thousand dollars when tablets before used to only cost four or five, maybe at top six seven hundred dollars, but eight to like fifteen hundred dollars for tablets is just absolutely ridiculous. I guess some other uh things about this tablet, which I think is very cool, is the fact that this thing is running android and since this thing is running android, you are going to be able to side load apps, and then you're also going to have a lot of customizability. That's something that android is always known for and all he always does best. So, if you're a person that needs a lot of customization- and you want to do a lot with your tablet- that's where android really does stand out. It is a real depth, uh operating system, and it gives you a lot of flexibility in what you may want to do.

The only downside to android, of course, is the fact that, especially with tablets, you don't get the same experience as phones, because most android uh, most android developers, don't actually make their apps dedicated for uh android tablets, since android tablets for the most part, aren't really being manufactured all that much outside of like Samsung, and maybe some other companies, so just note that a lot of applications aren't necessarily made for this screen size and made for tablets in general. So your experience may vary when it actually comes to uh the actual applications on here. But again, that's not too big a deal, because most apps actually play nice, at least the ones that you're probably going to want to use. And then, alongside that back to what I was saying, this thing does support decks and since this thing does support decks, if an application doesn't play nicely, maybe with android, you can move over it over to decks and see if it'll perform better or maybe work better index, which is actually uh. Something, but just something I wanted to bring up and then also this thing doesn't really get a lot of updates.

That's not just the tab. S7 line, it's been a thing with android devices, no matter what they just don't get good support, so just expect not the same support as like apple. You won't get five to six years of support when it comes to software and when it comes to patches and things like that, you're going to be high and dry. It's not really Samsung's fault, because I understand Samsung has a lot of devices. They also have an UI on top of android, it's not stock android.

They also have to get the certification from Google, which they don't actually own, the certification for android. So I understand all the surrounding circumstances, but it is something to bring up, and it is something to be worried about when you buy something this expensive. You want support for many years, but unfortunately that's the biggest thing wrong with android devices, not just tablets and not just smartphone, it's practically any Samsung or any uh android device on the market and then here's my final summary of this product. The tab, seven plus, is a good tablet. If you're looking for a tablet that is fast, reliable, even has the capabilities of depth, and you also want a pen, and you want the best display on a tablet just know you are asking for a steep asking price, and you are going to have some limitations, but for those people who understand the limitations of android devices and android tablets and know that you won't get the best support.

Apps aren't specifically going to be made for their tablets. You are getting one heck of a deal. I will have to admit this tablet is still worth buying if you're trying to suit trying to decide which tablet to buy, I would not hesitate, definitely buy this tablet and the nice thing about this tablet. Is it's been going on sale quite often, and you can get it under the asking retail price of 849 for the base model? So that's something to just consider as well and for the most part, even though the limitations of not having apps made for android tablets and also not getting a lot of updates throughout the year. At least you all know, you are getting a very capable uh, uh operating system when it comes to android and that's something I absolutely do like you're you're going to have so many features at your disposal, especially with the Google Play Store.

The Google Play Store has so many things you can download to customize your android experience or to even do things on your devices. Thing is definitely a very mature operating system. Of course, it still won't be as mature as something like windows or something like macOS, but you already know what to expect. At least when it comes to the tablet. World android is hands down, one of the best, most mature operating systems today, and even a game with this old processor, the 865, which is only about a year old.

I would still say this thing holds up.
