iPhone 12 Pro vs iPhone XR: Worth the Upgrade? (TOP Comparisons)

Hey guys technical YouTube video for you guys in today's video we're going to be comparing the iPhone 12 Pro with the iPhone XR or the 10r here in this video in this video, we're going to talk about some big differences between these phone and at the end of the video, we're going to tell you guys if it's worth upgrading to the iPhone 12 Pro, if you have the iPhone 10 or if it's something option that you want to consider, but before we go ahead and get started with today's video, if you guys are new to our channel, we do a lot of techs, news reviews and giveaways so make sure to hit that subscribe button. So if you guys are looking to buy an iPhone, 10 or iPhone 12 Pro make sure you guys check out the discounter link in the description as well. So let's start this comparison, video for you guys today. The first thing we're going to do is actually go ahead and turn both of this device on see which one boots up fast. So what I'm going to do is hold the side button here to see which one turns on fast. I'm going to try to do it at the same time, keep on pressing and holding it until I see the app logo, and then I'll, let it go as you can see here.

I have the iPhone uh red edition of the iPhone 10r and the iPhone 12 Pro here, on my right hand, side, and we're going to switch them around here and, as you can see, the iPhone 12 Pro kind of one on that boot. It was pretty close battle, but it was if you look closely at the iPhone 12 Pro one just by milliseconds, that it wasn't even recognizable so the boot between them. We haven't seen much of a difference, but we're going to look a little more in this video. So let's take a look at the actual side, spec difference. If you take a look at the size of these phones, they both are 6.1 inch, diagonal, so they're about the same size in terms of their body sizes. So that's a physical difference.

You won't notice, of course, if you can see here, the body itself they, although they have the screen size, is that the iPhone 10 10r looks like it's a little bigger on the actual bezel, where the iPhone pro is a little slimmed down, because you have more round versus this edgy look, you know you get that extra bit of more width on the side and the iPhone 12 Pro. If you guys take a look at it, it's almost like the iPhone 5 or the 5s. If you guys remember that app would move away from that, starting with the six and most of their iPhones after that, so it's surprising that apple went back to its more edgy design here. Also, let's take a look at the back here for a moment. If we look at the back here, as you see here, some big difference, of course, is the Apple logo itself, where the iPhone 12 Pro it's at the center and the iPhone 10 are more towards the top part of it, and then you'll notice that the lettering of the word iPhone is available on the iPhone 10, and they have removed it on the new or 12 pro, which is surprising because most iPhones easily generally have something on writing below.

So not sure why Apple has done with that, but it has done that. The other, of course, thing. That's pretty obvious here, is that on the iPhone 12 Pro, of course, you have the triple versus only that one 12 megapixel lens on the iPhone 10r. So that's a big difference in terms of what the quality of your videos and pictures are going to be. Along with that, you know you have the lid or scanner that's available on the iPhone 12 Pro not available on the iPhone 10r.

What that allows you to do is faster, auto zoom and night mode, cryptography and much more feature around um, just being able to do measurement app. If you have the measurement app which we discussed in another video. Let's take a look at the edges itself as well, because you'll notice, here on the edge on the iPhone 12 Pro, is that you have this weird little looking model side thing which isn't the sim card tray. It's actually the MMM wave antenna which allows 5g capability, which is not available on the iPhone 10r. So that's one thing, you'll notice.

So if we go ahead and turn it off, and then we'll notice that the sim card tray on the iPhone 10r is on the right hand, side well because of the 5g antenna apple had to move the sim card on the 12 pro on the left hand, side. And then, if we take a look at the overall front side of it, the display itself the moment to look at the display here. The iPhone 10r has only an lcd compared to the iPhone 12 Pro, which has this Dr super retina technology. Just with that ceramic shield, that is supposed to be make it more durable and vibrant in terms of color. Of course, you can take a look at that thoroughly with the display here.

You have liquid retina HD display here on the iPhone 10 versus that super retina MTR display doesn't make a difference. Well, if you take a closer look at it, it might make a difference, but essentially in the typical light you when you're watching videos or playing stream back that has 4k you might notice that difference. Of course, the other thing to mention is this constant contrast ratio where, on the iPhone, 12 pro it's 2 billion to 1, compared to 1400 to 1 ratio, so there's a big difference in terms of contrast, ratio on the iPhone display itself. Let's take a moment to talk about the different color options that are available if you're uh option person that likes the color of the iPhone you'll notice. Here we have a unique version: the product red edition of it compared to the gold edition of the 12 pro.

What other color? Can you get the 12 pro? Well, the other colors are your silver and gold. That's pretty standard, along with the silver gold space edition or your standard one, and then there's the newer edition, one which we don't have right now is the pacific blue. Where, on the iPhone 10r, you have wide range of color from blue to white to black. You also have your yellow, your coral and red as well, so six color choices versus only four that's available for the 12 pro. If your person that's very concerned with the color of your phone, it's something that might of interests you, let's also talk about the chip between this.

So, as you know, Apple does improve its hardware by moving up the chip level between this and the chip that we see on the iPhone between these. That you're going to notice is the a12 versus the a14. It's a slight jump because of the 11 that sports, the eye 13. So on the 12 pro you have up to your a14 bionic versus the a12, so to jump in terms of the hardware of the chipset. Does that really make a difference in speed? Well, we're going to test just the apps and whatnot as you could so on the boot time, we haven't seen big difference in terms of which one booted up faster, because they are both running iOS 14.

So it's more of a software utilizing the hardware that's available on the actual phone that makes that big noticeable difference, but we haven't seen that noticeable difference. Another thing we really want to discuss it on this phone is the actual battery life itself. So how well does the battery life hold up on the new iPhone 12 Pro versus the iPhone 10r? Well, to give you guys an idea in terms of the battery capacity, there is not really a big difference in terms of battery capacity in terms of play. Video playback, the iPhone 12 Pro gives you about 17 hours of video playback for the iPhone 10r gives you 16 hours only an hour difference. Is that going to be really noticeable when you're watching video might not really be noticeable? Compare considering that's only an hour difference and, if you're doing other stuff, it might be really negligible to even consider the fact that the battery capacity hasn't changed between that.

So it's something that you're looking into upgrading might not be something to look at the other thing you'll notice about it is, if you take these phones for a dip in the pool, or so is that the IP rating has slightly increased on the iPhone 12 Pro. You have six meters for 30 minutes compared to only one meter in 30 minutes. Well, if that can really make a difference, if you take it in the ocean, probably not they're, still not gonna hold up really well, but if you were to drop it in light form of water, both phones are pretty much going to hold up six versus one meter, it's up to you, depending on how well or how much of this phone you're looking to dip into water, which I don't think most people do that on a frequent basis that you would really hear to care about it. Let's talk about a little more about this whole design and the battery be now being able to wireless charge, the iPhone 12 Pro using a mega safe charger. So what that means is that apple decided to release its own version of wireless charger, although it would, it will it introduce wireless charging on their iPhone 8 and above it hasn't really come up with a wireless charger and apple decided to get in the game by dishing out these mega safe charger to really exploit the power of wireless charging on the iPhone 12 Pro that is available and the wireless charger that it does.

Give you that whole idea of let's talk about a little about the pretty much the weight of these phones, the weight of these phones. You have your iPhone 12 Pro, which comes at a 5.7 ounce versus the 5.94 ounce on the iPhone XR. Is it really noticeable? Not really? If you really look at it, it's really negligible in terms of the weight both feel about the same kind of weight, in my hand, which I don't really notice, just because it's about almost six ounces. If you take round it up, which you know to a regular user, might not make much of a difference, let's take a look at the actual software here. We're going to open up some apps, see how well you know things do, as you can see here, I'm opening up these apps both of these apps are just phenomenal in terms of that they're able to just open up fire up both of the apps that we're opening up without really an issue.

So, as you can see here on the iPhone 12 Pro YouTube was able to spin up faster versus the iPhone XR, which did take a little time. You know you're going to expect to have this. So if you open up tick-tock here, as you see, cool experience, browsing not really negligible. If you use Reddit, if you take a look at Reddit here, as you see, it does take a little to load, but once the loading gets going, your overall experience you're not seeing much you're going to see slightly just a little faster experience on the 12 pro because of the upgraded chipset. But aside those little differences that you are seeing, is it really worth upgrading? Well, that's something you'll have to decide because, as you see here, one thing to probably talk about is the cost of these two phones.

So you have the iPhone price point. Starting for this was that you have the iPhone 12 Pro starting at that 990 mark the whole grand experience with apple where the iPhone XR. Now you can actually purchase it new for 4.99. So almost half the price, and you're noticing that well, there might be some big differences in terms of the camera, maybe some display. Is it really upgrading? Well we'll leave that to you.

So if we were looking to get budget friendly, probably the 10r might do you if you have the budget or so, of course, the iPhone 12 Pro just because of the upgraded features overall and just having a newer phone. Of course. The iPhone 10r here will be in relevance still for a couple more years, it's not going anywhere. But if you're looking to upgrade to something better like you would, of course the 12 is something to look into. So thanks for watching guys, hopefully this video is helpful for anyone looking for a comparison between these two phones that we have and hopefully see you guys next time in our video thanks for watching.
