Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Unboxing By Gareth Myles

This is the Samsung Galaxy Tab s, 6 okie-dokie. This is the Samsung Galaxy Tab s 6. This is the latest and one might even go as far to say the greatest Android tablet that has been released on mankind, as some folks do tend to be saying, and it really is a testament to Android tablet. The fact that they still exist is encouraging the fact that this is a very expensive variant is kind of encouraging, and it really is quite a desirable tablet and, as a result, I've picked one up, because I was a big fan of the Samsung Galaxy Tab s, 4, and I'm, really looking forward to seeing this a worthy successor to our tablet. That really did have its problems. Hopefully this doesn't have any problems, so, let's get into it and have a quick look about see what it's like and have a play really.

So this is the 128 gigabyte version, not the — 5-6 version, which has 8 gigabytes of RAM, that's another variant, but it seems to be quite difficult to track down and also the price on. It is considerably more than this. This works out at about 600 and I, think it was 615 pounds. I've got a 4, whereas the larger version can go up to about 700 720 pounds, maybe, and then you can get LTE as well, which adds further cost on to it. But this seems to be perfect for Android or the mobile 128 gigabytes, plus a micros card.

That's expandable up to me, 1 terabytes, worth of storage on the go Wi-Fi there are the specs there. It's got a WGA screen which is 2560 by 1600 and AMOLED display or letters there they're putting in their quad speakers tuned by AKG, which I believe are phenomenal. The speakers on Samsung phone of List have been particularly good. So from what I've heard this does appear to be on another level. Again, it's got a 13 megapixel camera on it, plus a 5 megapixel camera on the rear, one of which is the ultra wide-angle and then there's an 8 megapixel camera on the front, which is the first time I've seen really proper, decent cameras on a tablet.

There Bluetooth remote control a span included on screen optical fingerprint sensor, which is a big step up from the s for the 64 gigabyte outscore processor inside, which is the Snapdragon 855. That's got the six gigabytes, obviously, and a reader. It's the 128 gigabytes of memory, 7000 of 40 million bar battery Samsung decks, which is an extra operating system that's being thrown in to help productivity. Gurus have an almost desktop like experience on their tablet on the go and then adaptive fast charging as well. There's some small print there as well, which is stuff um yeah that will get into the box okay.

So we have the tablet on the top here, ready to go, which we'll have a look at in a second elsewhere. In the box we get a small container here with a SIM card, ejector tool or memory, our micro SD card, ejector tool. We have Quick Start Guide and the warranty card. We have an expandable travel, D type plug with push just in case you didn't know what to do without. Obviously, someone somewhere has trouble with it, and this is a 5 volt 2 amp chargers.

We have the little S Pen that we're going to have a look at in a while or stylus or whatever you want to call it, which is neutrally different to the s4, and we'll draw some comparisons in another video between those two tablets. We have a little pinch her for changing the nib of the stylus, notably on this. There is only 4, 2 included a white one and a black one, and then obviously one on the end of that on the s4. If memory serves there was three or four, including one in the nib as well, so we're there skimping a wee bit there already there's nothing else in there. That's too much everything out of the box actually, so that seems a bit of a particularly large piece of cardboard to hoist this.

But you know people are paying a lot of money, so they should get decent packaging at least having to look at the stylus. The stylus itself is what kind of shape would say it was oblong seems to be springing to mine, but that's probably incorrect. It's not quite square. It's not quite round it's somewhere in between. We have a button there, and it says Samsung and the top of it, and then we have the nib at the end there for tapping on it.

It is a different shape to the previous generation stylus and there is something there, whether it be a touchpad or a sensor of some description. Yeah, I actually quite liked the idea that I ever being flat and squared the previous one I find when I used it I would sometimes rule it very easily and end up pressing the button by accident. At least this one, you kind of know where you stand, and you might be able to adapt a particular position on it. More frequently, more often looks like that. The top comes off that was probably a battery in there or something very easy, switching or not, quite so easy, switching, but switching on the less and moving on to the tablet and will take it out of this protective film that choose us on the back there were to store the tablet or the store.

The stylus- and this is really quite glued- dine I- don't want to destroy it, even though I'll probably go back in the box and stay there until such time as I get rid of the table door, or I die yeah. Okay. So there is the tablet. It is incredibly thin and light compared to the s4 which I use daily. So I'm quite I'm quite impressed with this right out of the box, because it is stunningly thin and light by comparison and new table.

It doesn't have the glossy plastic feel of the s4. It is aluminum, which is really quite nice, and obviously here we have the groove for the span that must be an indicator of where to store this, so that might be the magnet there. Furthermore, it is there. So is it. It is fairly easy to move it out of place and if you put it the wrong way around, it doesn't quite sit in place, so you have to get it the right way around with the button exposed and some kind of case is going to be required to hold that in position.

Notably, there is a bump for the camera, as you can see, it's it site about a millimeter and a 1/2, which means it doesn't sit flat on the desk. I. Don't know if that's going to be a big problem for some people, but I, don't like that. I prefer to have this flush I'd rather forego the wide-angle, miss of it and have just a nice decent camera that sits flush with the tablet and the tablet would sit comfortably on the desk without being wobbly. But well we can't sniff it everything.

Can we along here we have an antenna band, either end, and then we have some holes there for the mount and then the Pogo plugs wood? You can just about see there lights a bit harsh, perhaps that connect into the book cover that you can purchase for a hundred and fifty pounds from Samsung. Then down this end, we have two speakers which we will test in a jiffy plus the microUSB connector and two antenna bands. There, then, around this side we the SIM card from the mic from the micros card slot, that's fairly close to the bottom of the tablet. I suppose, there's a microphone hole that might be there I'd like to think it's a microphone hole. Then a volume rocker, a power button and two antenna bands again then the top more speakers and tenor bands and the microphone.

So there is a decent amount of stuff around it. The screen is a ten point: five inch WGA, wasn't it at the super Sam OLED screen, which is a 2560 by 1600 resolution and that's a 16 byte, an aspect, ratio, that'll, work, side and I believe the math that is that it's got 287 PPI, which is a very different screen. That's to be said: yeah, it does look lovely I'm, just a'm, so impressed by the width. This is the kind of tablet that I've been wanting to have that isn't an iPad they've. It feels like they've, almost just got by got it right for we're.2 tablet size reissues without significantly decreasing the power of the tablet. There have been many tablets that Samsung have made that have been a beautiful feel to them, but they've always lacked something, whereas this appears to be a top-notch tablet that combines all the features together that you would expect to see from a tablet.

So we turn it on, and we're greeted with the Samsung Galaxy Tab s, 6 I'm not going to run through the entire setup, because this is going to be my tablet for the foreseeable future, and I'm going to set it up just the way I want to, but we'll get up and in and then in another video I'm going to draw some comparisons between this and the s4 after using it for a while, and we'll see how this works in comparison to the s4 and I do plan on having a play with DEX, we get a bit a half of batteries worth of charge and an encouragement to go. Let's go, so we have check out some info to get started. Yes, whatever you want over seat of marketing information, no, no more with that information like linking. No one will not bother without send diagnostic. That's all right and user data will hit next bring your old data quicker.

So we can sync over from our previous tablet, which I do plan to do, but I'll skip it for now just to get into the tablet and see what it's like choose our Wi-Fi network, which will do that. That's us connected by getting some updates, so this should have Android nine out of the box and I. Imagine the security updates are what it would be installing if anything, and we're looking for our Google, sign-in I, know I want my Google to be set it up on this, and we can choose a backup to restore so yeah. We can back it up from that. Other tablet that we had, so that'll be restoring one point, knowing nine gigabytes of 114 gigabytes by gum and that'll restore, so it makes it a really easy switch and that's one of the things I very much like about Android tablets at the moment is moving from one to the next is as seamless as what you can do on Apple and I won't try the fingerprint sensor.

So we have to pick out a pin okay, so this is an under fine under screen, fingerprint sensor. That is just about here, and we can do that, and it picks up gradually populates my thumb building a profile. Okay and we can add another fingerprint if we fancy which I'm not gonna, do right now, one thumb will do fine, and then you can back up from our storage on Google as well. So the screen so much hasn't really started a thousand me yet because it's all white and the logos and things that Goddard are just typically blue I, look forward to actually getting to see what the screen looks like I. Believe it's the CM screen as the previous Samsung Galaxy Tab s, four, that's our Samsung Galaxy account connected as well.

You really do have to set aside quite a bit of time in order to set up a tablet these days, it's not quite as simple as it used to be, and it's asking us to back up in from our restore our back-up from other Samsung's that I've had in the past dating back to 2014 2013. In fact, the SM 9 mm five I, don't even remember what that tablet is I, would be interested in getting the information from that. Hmm. Well, we'll skip it right now because 2016 to put in the most recent and there we have it, we have the Samsung Galaxy Tab s, six, that sounded quite impressive. That was a good beefy sign there.

So right from the word go we have apps already installed for us to get annoyed at or perhaps maybe use inside the Samsung folder. We have the smart things' app, which allows us to connect to smart, really write to smart fridges and all that kind of thing. The files up, which is really handy for it's actually one of the better file explorers I, do quite like it, and you don't have to install anything else. It does pretty much everything you need, not everything, but a good amount. The internet browser which Samsung's isn't bad.

It's its decent enough option. If you really want to use it, but there are better ones out there and the galaxy store, which you might use once in a while Samsung flew something I do tend to use quite a lot, because this is just the Wi-Fi version, and I'll connect to my Samsung Galaxy, S, 10 plus, to get the internet onto this. Then we have Samsung members, which is the members club for it's basically just news and updates, and things like on advertising new products that they've brought out then pan up, which allows us to utilize this little baby and do some art and artsy type things and then Bixby, which no one's ever heard of or used before ever Google Chrome has installed Gmail Maps YouTube, so it was a typical Google suite is resident straightaway. Then we have some Microsoft apps as well. My office, mobile OneDrive and outlook no word or spreadsheets there or Excel even placed or readied update some stuff phone app, which is a bit of odd messages.

Camera gallery clock contacts, settings calendar. Now we can see some of my apps are coming. The grid station era battle space harbinger is done. Loading and Plex is coming vitally important. Calculator play music, Samsung notes, Oh playing music I forgot about that.

Hopefully, I can use that um, galaxy launcher or game launcher. Sorry, Spotify and Netflix installed. Having play music on Spotify. Is its good, I suppose straight from the word? Go because most people will be using Spotify I myself use Google play music, there's some more apps. Obviously the news one wasn't installed in the Google suite, which is a bit of a shame, but it's coming now and some of my preferred bits and pieces so yeah, it's its a nice looking tablet, it's very typical one.

You now have Bixby whatever that is. We will have a quick test of the camera because I'm quite interested to see how well this works. We're just on live focus, video on hyperlapse, which I don't know if you use I'll tell him much. Obviously we have the ultra wide-angle here as well, which we can switch to pick up a great deal more detail, and it looks really nice on the screen to see that, so we'll go to photo mode, and we'll take a couple of pictures there. We are on ultra ride, we'll just go with the regular one.

To start with, we'll take a picture of the books, it was a bit of a delay. There is an autofocused, and then we'll go for the ultra-wide, no delay that time. So that's quite good Pro Mode we can get there. There doesn't seem to be a particularly large amount of thoughts right. There isn't a huge amount of options whenever we go to pro mode, and it's actually quite difficult to hit the button.

I was focusing in there alone, rather than actually getting the function. That I was looking for, there's a dedicated night mode which I'm unimpressed with because that's something you don't tend to see built-in to cameras very often anymore. So it's good to have a dedicated night mode, trying to go back to promo, but we're actually focusing again. Now we can play around with some options here. There aren't terribly many um.

The regular photo mode looks quite good. So if we go into the pictures that we've taken, we zoom in on the books you can see, there is a good amount of detail. There, that's actually being captured, and it does look a bit washed out down here. It could be a bit more realized. I, don't think that's to do with the actual screen of the tablet.

I imagine the screen is giving us a great idea as to how good the quality actually is of the camera, see that's more the camera itself, but there are some whites where it's washed out and a Bruin — here, and you can see his hair is quite dusty, which it's not really there's, there's quite a bit of color coming through on the actual ash over there, which this has not quite captured. So having a look at the other picture, the regular lens, that's a much better shot. I have to say there is a great deal more vivid, color everything is readable. All text is showing up very well. The colors on boulders get is very good, the detail down on the Aston Martin there.

You can see dust and a bit of dirt and things they got around it so yeah. So it must just be not one shot that we took there and I will take a picture of Mr. Campbell's head. You see, there's a bit of color coming through that time as well. So yeah, the camera is pretty impressive.

That's one of the better ones that I've seen on a tablet, especially of this size that isn't made by Apple and yeah. I'm I'm really impressed with this eye. So far, so good I'm I want to sit down and have a play with it and get some games going. Do a bit of emulation watch some Netflix and that kind of thing, and I'm just more impressed by the fact that the wit and the feel of it is so much nicer than the table s4. It's quite a bit of way: I'm tempted to go and get the s4 just to show you a comparison, but I'm going to save that for another.

Video I want to use this for a few days before I ice it and make any hardware comparisons between the two, because this is only just out of the box. But yes, it's a lovely device I'm, not a hundred percent sure that I'm going to be using that function terribly often because it just feels like it's going to lose the stylus quite quickly I'm just noticing there as I moved it the screen lit up. So obviously the stylus allows us to do stuff to interact and then throwing it back on the back. I suppose, there's an easy place to keep it. Although I missed it there, we go huh nuts, better annoy yeah, so you got to get in the right position, but it'll, it'll sit there and then obviously you'll set it down and once again it won't be quite so steady on the desk, especially because there's just stylus, underneath it, I had originally thought that they were going to do where they stuck it to the side.

But obviously they didn't- and that's that's not an option here. The magnets aren't that any way configured for you to be able to do that, but it's nice that it does connect to the tablet and that can wake it up. So if you are sitting listening, you can see it a bit of power and then take this out and undo some jotting down. If you need to and there's a nice little noise that it makes to, so it's an it's a lovely tablet. So far, so good I'm, looking forward to using it I, have to go and get all my stuff put on it and unsee.

How it works, see if there's much difference between it and the s4 runs them benchmarks and see how well they do. Although I think that's been very well documented on YouTube as to how much faster this is because it has the e 855 inside it, whereas the s4 had the snapdragon 35, which was a little old by the time the s4 hit the market. So it's nice that this has one of the newest processors, if not particularly new, yet it's been about for a while. So we are almost on the bleeding edge of processors inside this, and the price of it is quite comparable to the iPod, which is very obvious, and that's what they're looking to make a viable product to give someone an alternative, especially if you have an Android phone you're, probably going to want to have an Android tablet. I know people who, who do tend to do that, but some people prefer to have both worlds, but it means, if you're buying an app you can use it on both devices as opposed to just one.

Right now, I would say yes, I've noticed a few little problems with it, but not enough to make me want to go and send this back. Getting a kiss is obviously going to be an important factor, especially one that encompasses that stylus because I do like brick taking the stylus with me. I just don't want to lose it by leaving it there it'll be a bit of a pain so hit that subscribe button and turn on those notifications that give us a wee thumbs up.
