Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G Review: OnePlus 9 killer?

It's fashionably late, but the galaxy s20 Fe 5g, has finally made its way to India and in this video I'm going to tell you why. I think that this is the best Samsung phone that you can buy in 2021, but before I get into all of that, please do hit that subscribe button. So we can continue making more videos like this one. Now for those of you who may not know the Samsung Galaxy s20 Fe 5g is the exact same phone that debuted in India last year, but now it comes to the snapdragon 865 processors and is currently being sold alongside the 4g variant powered by the exons 990 chips. That snapdragon 865, of course brings 5g connectivity to the s20 Fe, something that Samsung needed to take off in order to make this device future-proof. Apart from that, I didn't experience a big difference between this chipset and the less popular Enos 990 when it came to day performance, whether I was switching between apps or indulging in some high graphic gaming.

This phone handled everything I threw at it. Meanwhile, the generous 8gb of ram keeps everything ticking along nicely and 128gb of internal storage is expandable up to 1tb via micros card. I also noticed that the galaxy s20 Fe with the snapdragon 865 stays much cooler in comparison to the Enos 990 variant that very slightly heats up in the middle of the back panel, while gaming or when using the camera app now. In theory, the snapdragon 865 should offer better battery life on the galaxy s20 Fe 5g over the Enos 990 variant, and I'm happy to report that it's not just a theory. Qualcomm's chipset does improve the overall battery backup, but only by a slim margin.

If I remember correctly, the 4g variant of the s20 FM that I reviewed last year gave me a total of six and a half hours of screen on time, while the new model offered me almost seven hours of screen on time. The slight improvement is always welcome, but just like last year's s20 Fe, the new 5g model will last you, through most of your day, on a charge, but won't last as long as I expected, given the size of its large 4500 my battery, the s20 Fe 5g also supports 25 watt charging, but ships with a 15 watt charger, which is most likely a cost, cutting move on Samsung's part. It doesn't power up the phone very quickly and took just over two hours to charge fully the galaxy s20 Fe 5g looks exactly like the s20 Fe 4g. The rear panel is made of plastic as opposed to glass, but that doesn't mean the phone looks or feels cheap in any way, the backside gets a really nice matte finish, which is extremely soft to the touch and also ensures fingerprint smudges are kept to a bare minimum. Moreover, the plastic construction helps in keeping the phone's weight down and at 190 grams.

The s20 Fe 5g is easy to use with one hand the headphone jack is still missing, but there's toughen gorilla glass 5 on the front aluminum on its edges and an ip68 water resistance rating, which means it can handle a dunk with ease. Also, Samsung is offering the s20 Fe 5g in a total of three colors cloud, lavender cloud mint and this cloud navy option. As far as the display is concerned, you will find yourself in familiar territory with a vibrant 6.5 inch, full HD, plus resolution flat super AMOLED screen. It has 120 hertz, refresh rate too. That just makes swiping around the android interface feel that bit smoother.

If I had to nitpick I'd, say the bezels around the display could have been thinner, but they're still very much acceptable by 2021 standards. Underneath the display you get a reliable fingerprint scanner, but it's not as snappy as the ones I've experienced on premium, OnePlus or Oppo phones. Now, let's talk about the camera and the setup are fairly conservative in comparison to the s21 ultra no 108 megapixel primary sensor over here and no 100 x, space zoom either, but the galaxy s20 Fe still manages to offer a versatile camera setup that comes with the same 12 megapixel wide sensor, included in the s21 and s21 plus there's also a 12 megapixel ultra-wide snapper and 8 megapixel telephoto lens available over here. For the most part, they all offer good performance. Samsung's AI processing does a great job of adding punchy colors, but it also has a bad habit of over sharpening images, especially in ultra-wide clicks.

The telephoto camera offers three times optical zoom and in the right conditions they can all get some great shots. You can even capture up to 30x digital zoom, but quality takes a dip at this magnification level. Low light performance isn't the best or worse, but the dedicated night mode does a terrific job of brightening up the frame. Meanwhile, the 32 megapixel front camera housed in the centrally aligned hole punch, delivers results similar to what we've seen on Samsung mid-ranges, as in noise, is kept well under control, but it is a little light on detail. However, the portrait shots look solid, even though there is a fair bit of excessive skin smoothing taking place in terms of software.

The galaxy s20 Fe 5g runs on the latest android 11, with one UI 3.0. This means a lot of the features found in the flagship. S21 series are also available over here, so things like Samsung pay, NOX security, Microsoft, apps and even DEX, plus Samsung is fully committed to the software update cycle and promises. A minimum of three OS updates. The galaxy s20 Fe 5g is the best Samsung phone that you can buy in 2021, because it gives you the right mix of premium features that people actually want, but for a good price Samsung offers you 120hz AMOLED, display stereo speakers 5g and triple cameras with 30x space zoom for an introductory price of 47 999 rupees, that's 22, 000 rupees, cheaper than the newer Samsung Galaxy s21.

I'm even going to go one step further and say that the s20 Fe 5g is actually a better value for buddy proposition than the recently launched OnePlus 9. Not only does it deliver a similar flagship experience for 2000 rupees less, but even provides extra features missing from the OnePlus 9 Indian variant, like wireless charging and ip68 water resistance rating. So yeah, I think the s20 Fe 5g is a pretty good deal. But let me know what you guys think in the comment section and if you like this video, please do hit that like button I'll catch, you guys in the next one. Thank you so much for watching.
