Welcome back everyone time to do another comparison, but this time between the Samsung, galaxy a71 and the Samsung Galaxy s10e. Now I probably should have done this update many months ago, but I totally forgot to do it and I finally got my hands on the a71, so one so now is the best time to do it might as well. Now, surprisingly, these two things are around the same price right now, so the antenna came out in 2019. The galaxy a71 technically came out last year too, but it was towards the end. I didn't see. A lot of people start reviewing these until like that January February time.
So that's probably when it officially came out now you can pick both these things up for less than 400 on Amazon, so I'll find the cheapest ones on there and link them down in the description below. So you can get them from there and help support the channel at the same time now, starting off with the front of both of them. There's some pretty big size differences between these two, but the similarity between them is also a lot. If that made any sense, there's a lot of similarities, they both have hole, punch displays both have 1080p panels, but with the Galaxy S10e, you are getting that 5.8 inch, dynamic, AMOLED display, and this one is pretty good. You know what I mean like it's been a very good panel for me.
So far, I've done a lot of things. With this phone. I've watched a lot of things. I've compared it to a ton of different phones in the market and the galaxy s10s panel is still up there. In my opinion, you have that fingerprint sensor and the display- and overall it's been a perfect panel for me.
You know I compared it to a lot of other panels that have come out, including the Galaxy Note, 20s and a lot of other phones out there, even with the s10 and s20, and I found that the s10 has a very good panel. It's definitely not a bad 1080p panel. I would say it's pretty similar to like the OnePlus 8 in a way, obviously that one's much bigger, and it has that 90 hertz, but that's tiny for what you're getting for what you're paying for it's a very good panel Samsung knows how to make their panels very well, where the Samsung Galaxy 71 has a 6.7 inch super AMOLED plus display, so it's definitely a bigger size panel and when you feel both in the hand, you can definitely feel some big differences between these two. It's like holding a note and a standard galaxy s mini in your hand like there are some pretty big differences between these two, but that's not really a bad thing either. You have some.
You know differences here. Maybe some people prefer a bigger phone. Some people may prefer a smaller phone, and that's totally up to you, you can determine that and figure that out which one you want, and I feel like. That's where the biggest difference is going to lie, you're going to either determine whether you want a bigger phone like the galaxy 71 or you want a smaller phone like the Galaxy S10e, so kind of keep that in mind I'll. Let you guys kind of figure that out yourself, but in my opinion I still kind of feel like the s10e may have the better panel, just by a little like.
I said, bunch displays on both, but I feel like the s10, because it is a smaller panel you're getting a higher PPI on it, and it kind of makes me think that that panel may be a little better than what it is on. The Samsung Galaxy a71. So kind of keep that in mind not a super crazy deal, but something that I would keep in mind for sure they both have USB type-c and they both have headphone jacks as well, which is a huge highlight. The destiny came out, had the headphone jack. I was like great.
The galaxy 71 came out. This thing also has the headphone jack, which is really cool and for these budget phones. I guess that's a really huge popular feature that Samsung puts in into these specific phones, so for sure, at the end of the day, that's something I really do like about both these phones and on the back glass backs on both. We have a dual camera setup on the Galaxy S10e with the Samsung Galaxy a71. Has this sort of quadruple camera setup where it's like not really a good quadruple camera set, but it kind of is its kind of hard to explain now I said the a71 has a glass back and it kind of is like in the middle.
I don't know if it's like totally glass or if it's like plastic, it kind of fills in the middle. But if it's a plastic bag, then it feels like a pretty good plastic bag. The one on the note 20 in my opinion, is not that great. As everyone has said, the a71 feels kind of good, though so whatever this is, it feels great. However, I still think the Galaxy S10e feels like the more premium phone in the hand.
It has some good heft to it, and maybe that's because of the size. It feels very, very good, in my hand where the galaxy a71 does feel a little big, and it does feel a little cheaper when I'm pressing on it. When I'm kind of messing it with my hand, am I squeezing it and stuff. I can definitely feel a lot more rickety pieces. If that makes any sense, the Galaxy S10, I think, does a really, really good job at maintaining its sturdiness, and this was pretty much like a flagship phone that just had a lower end display other than that the s10, I think, kind of wins in the quality department, but the galaxy 71 still holds up completely in my opinion, for sure.
So, in terms of the outside. I think that really pretty much covers it, but there is one more important thing that I need to hit on. The galaxy. S10I does have ip68 dust and water resistance, where the Samsung Galaxy a71 does not have any resistance like that at all. So if you get a little of water on the a71 chances, are you may be okay, but it's not worth it to take that chance, you're going to be having a better experience in terms of the sturdiness on a Galaxy S10 than on a galaxy s71 for sure.
So in terms of that, that really pretty much covers the outside for the most part now hating on the software, so the galaxy s10d started off with the android pie. You are able to get one UI 2 on it, which is really, really awesome. With the Samsung Galaxy a71 started off with android 10. , the update for one UI 2.5 should be coming out at some point. It hasn't gotten it just quite yet but, like I said it will be coming out at some point and the software experience is almost identical on both one UI 2.5, like I said it will be coming out on both of these at some point and what I can tell you are in terms of the software experience. One UI 2 has never been my cup of tea.
I never liked one UI. I never liked touch wiz, but you can always throw a custom launcher on it and that'll help alleviate some of these problems, so the same problems that you have on both pieces of software on both phones you're going to have on both phones. So software is going to be the same. The software lifecycle also is, I don't know if it's going to be the same or different, I'm very familiar with the note lineup in the s lineup. But when it comes down to these a lineup of devices, I don't know if Samsung is going to be pushing out those same exact software versions.
For you know the s20 guts that the a71 gets. I feel like the s10 and the a71 are going to be kind of lined up in terms of software updates. So we really don't know. I guess we're going to have to wait and see, but the s10 is getting an extra year. Software update per Samsung's, you know keynote address that what they said.
So that's going to be really, really awesome. So, like I said, we're just going to have to kind of wait and see, but both phones are at least getting an extra year or two of software updates, so in terms of that you're probably going to be set for the most part. So in terms of the software that really pretty much covers it up for the most part now hitting on the performance- and I did a speed test between them too, which I'll go and show you guys. The Samsung Galaxy s10 has that Qualcomm snapdragon 855 chipsets, an autocore CPU and arena 640 GPU and six gigs of ram on the base model and eight gigs of ram on the top tier model. But the Samsung Galaxy 871 has that Qualcomm snapdragon 730 processors, an arena, 618, GPU and six gigs of ram on that base model and eight gigs of ram on that top tier model.
And what I can tell you about the performance is pretty much exactly the same thing. You know I did a speed test, you guys can watch it, and it's funny, because there are so many similarities between these two and there's so many differences. One thing that I kind of saw that may be accurate, and sometimes it's not. The main difference that I saw was that maybe the Galaxy S10 does a better job at kind of handling. The heavier intensive apps with the Samsung Galaxy, a71 kind of does a better job at opening up the lower end apps faster.
So I feel like the s10 may be you know the smoother one when it comes down to it. The galaxy 71 is kind of the faster one sometimes, but even then that's kind of a pushy statement, because I saw that sometimes the Galaxy S10e also opened up the games faster too, and the performance on both these phones is great. First, you know the ie71 really blew me away for it being less than a 400 phone and for it having the amount of power that it does and the screen that it has so for sure the a71 I really like it. I think it was really cool that Samsung were to do that and the s10e is more or less. You know the same thing, but maybe it's a little smoother like I said.
There's a lot of similarities between these two- I don't know. If one really is, you know, 100 the faster one, if anything, if you get the top tier model of the s10 and the top tier model of the a71 they're going to be having the exact same ram- and I think that's a perfect thing, whereas on the 871, if you get the base model like I do, you're going to have two gags of ram less and that's really the main differences that I saw. So I wouldn't really go from one phone to the other just in terms of the performance, so hopefully that kind of covers it up for you guys now hitting on the cameras like I said, the Galaxy S10 has a dual camera setup: 12 megapixel wide and a 16 megapixel ultrawide sensor. The galaxy a71 has a 64 megapixel, wide angle, lens 12, megapixel, ultra white sensor, 5 megapixel macro lens, and then a 5 megapixel depth sensor. Now you would think that the a71 camera is way better because it looks way better.
That is not the case at all. In my opinion, the Galaxy S10 not only has more functionality, but has the better camera setup as well. So you have the ability of shooting 4k 30 on both. You do not have the ability of shooting 4k 60 on the a71, but you do have that ability on the Galaxy S10e. So for sure, when it comes down to the camera that in and of itself pretty much explains it, but I feel like the quality is a lot better on the s10e as well.
Even though the megapixel count is higher on the a71, I still find it to be a better camera setup overall on the Samsung Galaxy s10e, so that kind of covers it up from there as well, now ending it off with the battery life. You have a thirty-one hundred million power battery on the Galaxy S10e and a forty-five hundred million power battery on the galaxy a71, and this is the area where the galaxy 51 really outshines a lot of the competitors out there. The Samsung Galaxy s10 for the most part, had a pretty good battery life system as well. You know it handled everything I threw at it perfectly fine, but the galaxy a71 with that low resolution display with that less you know, powerful chipset and with that bigger size battery that that doesn't take as much as a toll out compared to the s10 and a lot of the other competitors in the market. So for sure, when it comes down to it, the a71 has the better battery life.
It doesn't have wireless charging, though so, keep that in mind. But in my opinion the a71 has tremendous battery life for the most part. So to kind of sum up this video and stay into the comparison you know which phone? Should you pick up? I think, if you're trying to think of like the most longevity type of thing- and you want you- know a brand-new phone as at this point, the galaxy 71 is probably the better way to go, but I think if I had to do it, I think I would probably end up picking the Galaxy S10. It feels better. In the end, it's a little smaller and a little more manageable to me.
It doesn't feel as flimsy as something like the a71. The performance is better, the camera is better, and the performance isn't necessarily better. It's like a little hit-and-miss, but I think I would rather pick up that's tony than the a71, but the choice is yours, like I said you can get them both in the description below, but that's really pretty much it if you guys have any other questions or anything.
