Should you buy this phone? OPPO Reno5 5G (not the Pro) review!

This is the Oppo Renault 5 5g, and yes, that is the official name of this phone, and it's been in Malaysia for quite some time actually and in today's video we're just going to jump right into our six different aspects of this phone right here, just like how we reveal any other smartphones in this channel and let's just begin so starting off with the design of this phone first, it is available in a total of three different colors. The one that we have here is called galactic silver and overall, this phone is really thin. Just like many other Oppo phones out there I mean for some reason they are just very thin, all the phones that I've tested from Oppo so far and overall um. It looks good really nice to hold the curvature from the back into the frame is actually really nice, and also the phone is not really that wide. So my big hands can actually grip onto the phone like this, and it doesn't really hurt my hand at all, but the back though Oppo says that this is using a glass back, but it does feel a lot more plastic compared to any other glass back smartphones, and it also attracts a huge amount of fingerprints over the course of my use time so yeah and as for the camera cutout, it's pretty standard. We got a total of four cameras here, and we can use three of them to take pictures.

I won't go much into the specs, and you can see all the specs on the screen right now, but in terms of its camera quality, though it can actually take some good pictures out of it. So the main camera here, even on a cloudy day, I absolutely love the colors. The clarity is good too, however, for certain shots, the dynamic range it does need some work. For example, this shot right here. The sky looks good enough well exposed, but everything else just looks really dark and as for the ultra angle, camera, I would say it's.

Okay, the colors are still good, but overall, it's a very noisy picture and I would say the ultra angle: camera is just decent and, as for the macro camera right here, it's kind of meh. Firstly, the software doesn't really help users to take the macro shots, as it doesn't have the critical focus bending or anything similar. As of that, and secondly, it's very noisy, and the picture quality is not really that clear. And thirdly, the picture is just way too dark. Honestly and of course, Oppo is advertising this as more towards videography kind of mid-range smartphone.

So when we shot a 1080p 60fps video, it does support 4k, but only up to 30fps. The quality seems to be kind of okay and here's a sample okay. So this is the video quality of the Oppo Renault 5 5g, with its main camera recording at 1080p 60fps, or you can go up to 4k at 30 fps anyway. I can see that there's some sort of is happening as you can see. If I move the phone a bit, it's still relatively stable, and you can also turn on ultra steady mode, but that is using the ultraviolet camera lens, and it is also without autofocus, so everything will turn out blurry, and it is cropped.

Obviously. So if you want the best quality, I would suggest you to use the main camera instead just turn off the ultra steady mode, so yeah, that's the video quality of the Oppo Renault 5 5g. I think it's pretty decent. But what about the performance, though? This smartphone right here comes with a snapdragon 765 g chipset, with 8 gigs of ram 128, gigs of storage and overall, the performance, as you can see, on these screenshots of the benchmarks here, and this is just to give you an idea on how the phone actually performs in terms of benchmarks but benchmarks. Don't really tell the whole story when it comes to performance, so we actually did a separate video where we played games on the Oppo RINO 5 5g.

So you can check that video out in the top right corner there as well, and everything that's happening on. The phone is shown through its 6143 inch, OLED screen with 1080p in resolution and 90hz refresh rate and the colors actually look quite good as well, but at 90 hertz, though you can only use it to scroll through Facebook system, menu, Twitter, Reddit, chrome, yeah that 90 hertz is not usable for games, which I don't know why Oppo wants to lock it out, and I do wish that they enable the option to run 90 hertz on certain games as well, that are certified to run at beyond.60Hz, for example, subway surfers and also one thing that I want to highlight here is that the under display fingerprint scanner is move all the way to the bottom of the display. I'm not too sure why they're doing that, but ergonomically. It feels kind of weird now powering up all the hardware that is found in the Oppo Renault 5 5g. Here is a 4 300 million power battery, which is okay in terms of size and the battery life we tested with PC mark at 60hz, refresh rate and the battery life got about 14 hours of battery life, which is pretty decent, but as for the charging situation, though, take a look at this Oppo included a super VOC, 2.0 charger. This is actually a 65 watts charger, but it is proprietary so, as you can see, it's using a type, an output with its proprietary USB type-c cable.

That means, even though, that this charger here can output a total of 65 watts. It doesn't support USB pd, so that means you cannot charge your laptop using this exact same charger, which is quite a bummer, and also why I don't like proprietary charging standards, but that, aside the charging time for the Oppo Renault 55g, it can reach from 15 to 100 in only about 40 minutes, which I think it's again pretty decent and finally, the software. So the Oppo Renault 55g comes with color OS 11.1, but overall I didn't find that much difference compared to the previous versions of color OS. It doesn't actually hinder my user experience, but it also doesn't augment or accentuate my user experience, so yeah, I'm pretty neutral when it comes to color OS and finally, the price of this phone at the Malaysian official retail price of 1899. It's a bit hard to swallow.

I would say it's just expensive right out of bed and there are better alternatives out there as well. So, for example, you can get either the Poco f2 pro or the mi 10 t pro for about the same price. Actually, but if you can muster up quite a few more a hundred bucks, you can actually get the galaxy s20 Fe 4g, which the price has gone down to 2099 ringgits and that's, I think, a much better price and also a much better deal compared to this smartphone like here, because if you just want to get specs, then yeah you can get a much better deal out of other phones for the same chipset as this phone. But if you just one video and photo capabilities, I would suggest you to get the galaxy s20 Fe 4g instead, so yeah. That's all we have for you for the Oppo Reno 55g.

If you have any questions, leave them down in the comment section below, and we'll be happy to answer them. Whenever we can, and we'll see in the next video yeah goodbye.
