Samsung Galaxy A52 5G | 3 Weeks Later with Camera Discussion!

How's it ground here welcome back to the channel- and this is my follow-up video here on the galaxy a52 5g. It's been a few weeks, I think about three weeks since I've unboxed this, and I've been alternating between this and the OnePlus 9 pro, which I'll be giving you a follow-up on, and some camera comparisons coming up as well, so stay tuned for that. I've also got a camera comparison with this, and the pixel 4 a5g, so again stay tuned to the channel for those videos. But I did want to give you a follow-up after using this and what my experience has been like and let's go ahead and start off with just the hardware and the build quality here. So this is an all plastic build, and you're not going to mistaken it for anything else, but plastic. It is a nice smooth matte back here, but there is definitely no mistaking this thing for plastic.

There are some phones that are made of plastic hat, that plastic back like the galaxy s20 Fe, even from Samsung, and that can be hard-pressed to tell if it's plastic or not, but this one- you can definitely tell its plastic. You can even kind of feel the dent back here. You can push in on it, and you can definitely feel that thin sheet of plastic and just holding it um just the weight and just the feel of everything. Furthermore, you're definitely going to know that this is plastic, not that there's a bad thing. It's actually looking very good if you're just going to glance at it and take a look at it, but if you're to feel it if you're picky enough, you may not really like that kind of feel.

But overall it's a nice looking design. It looks in line with pretty much all of Samsung's other designs, including with that camera module there and the back does pick up fingerprints. Even though it's a matte back, you can see there, but we can wipe it down. You can take wipe it down and get those fingerprints off and getting it looking pretty much nice and clean. But of course most people are going to wear a case with that.

But if you're worried about fingerprints it will smudge even on this matte black finish here, and so you can see here. You got the volume rocker the power button there, the headphone jack, so you actually get a headphone jack with this phone if you're into plugging in for sound quality- and you do have some sound controls on this phone here- type c, port, speaker port there- you do have a secondary speaker up top here, so you have dual speakers, which is nice, the front facing camera right there and your triple camera array on the back. So the one thing about this one is that you actually have optical image stabilization in the main 64 megapixel camera. So that's unique and the photos that are coming out of this thing are actually pretty good. So I'll show you some samples of that a little later now.

One thing that I'm not really liking is the biometrics. So if we go for the face unlock here, you can see it's a little slow, not the fastest. It is reliable, but after using this, you know day in day out, it does start to wear on me a little. I can feel you know how slow it is and how long it takes me to get into the phone, and if you don't want to use that face unlocks, you can use the fingerprint scanner, which is pretty equally slow, if not slower, so definitely slower than most other in-display fingerprint scanners. It is reliable, it does work, but, as you can see, it's not the fastest, and this is what the animation is disabled.

So, if you're sensitive to stuff like this, you may find it a little frustrating to get into your phone over time. I mean, if I'm just doing this in front of the camera, it doesn't look so bad because it's very controlled, I can see the sensor. I can hit it all the time, but just pulling out my pocket and just trying to unlock it day to day. You know over the course of the day. Several times either face unlock or fingerprint scanner.

It does get a little frustrating at how slow this is. So again, it may not bother you, but if you're sensitive to this kind of things, it might be something to note now next is performance. This is powered by the snapdragon 750 g processor, so definitely more powerful than its a51 predecessor, but you're going to notice it it's its fairly snappy and because of that 120 hertz refresh rate on display 1080p display, it is very smooth, and so, as you can see here, performance nothing too much to complain about, but if you're someone who's coming from a flagship phone, something like the s21 ultra or any of the s21 phones, maybe, and maybe you're thinking- of moving down to this a525g to save some money. Just keep in mind that I can feel the performance difference, and it's fairly noticeable to me. I can feel that this is a step behind that and using the ultra as my main driver before this one.

I know how that performs. Furthermore, I had the feel for that and just moving around this, you can't tell it looks pretty smooth but coming down from a phone like the s21 lineup, especially that's 20 ultra. Furthermore, I can definitely feel that this is a step behind, not that this is slowing away. Furthermore, I'm just noting this, because some people may want to actually downgrade and save some money, and you can definitely do that. There's no real issue with the performance, but all I'm saying is that if you're used to moving around and using a s21 type phone, especially the ultra on a day-to-day, you may also find that it's a bit step behind like if I go into here, and I move, and I swipe away, go back to home screen, you can see the animations are a little choppy.

Just to my eyes, I mean if you're looking on the camera, it doesn't look too bad, but if you use a phone all day to day, you probably know what I mean you can kind of have a feel for how it feels and even though the camera may not pick it up. You can feel that this is just a step behind that s20 on ultra, which it should be its nowhere near as powerful or as much money. But I'm just mentioning this because some people may want to save some money and step down and if you're sensitive to this kind of things, then you may want to take that into consideration now for most people. This is not going to be an issue, especially if you've not come from any of this flagship, phones or top end phones, then you're def. This is definitely going to look and feel very smooth and very fast to you, and if this is my only phone on a day-to-day basis, I'm sure I'll get used to it and have no problem over time.

But I just did want to mention that really quickly there, but you can see performance. You know just basic usage, day-to-day usage launching apps. You can see how long that took. Furthermore, you can see a little of a hiccup here and there when it's loading media. Some phones can chew through that a little better, but you can feel a little here, and you know launching things like Instagram.

You get a feel for how this is obviously apps launch pretty quickly and there's really no issue or complaint, and you can see the scrolling speeds there very nice and smooth and no problems really with any of that kind of day-to-day use. You can see here. Moving in and out of, apps is no problem. We can even launch up the browser here and see what that looks like here. A525G can see some core specs.

It does come with six or eight gigs of ram 128 or 256 gigs of storage. I've got the lower end, six gigs of ram 128 gigs of onboard storage. It does have a micro SD card slot. You can see the camera information there, as well as a very large battery, and we'll talk about battery life a little later, but you can see here scrolling speeds, even the browser fairly smooth. There is a hiccup like that chopped up a little here and there, but nothing really too bad.

But again I bring these things up because it doesn't really bother me, but some people are very sensitive to these things and I think it's worth noting. So let's go ahead and take a look at this nice 1080p, full HD display it does have 120 hertz. So if we go into settings display, we can see here and move down into motion smoothness. You can see high 120 hertz, or you can take it down to standards, which is the 60 hertz. If you want to save some battery, but I've been using this on 120 hertz the whole time and battery life has been great, so I would suggest you just keep it on these 120 hertz, unless you really want to squeeze a little more battery life out of this, but the 120 hertz is very nice.

It is quite smooth, and it really makes the phone feel that much smoother. So that's a very nice touch that they've added here to the a525g and a phone in this price range, but we can go ahead and take a look at the display. It's a typical Samsung AMOLED display. It looks great, really bright, really vibrant, and I can queue up a video. So you kind of see what it looks like here in all of its glory: let's go ahead and move it all the way up and full resolution and let's go full brightness here and full screen.

So you can kind of see what that looks like here. So very nice, vibrant display and let's go ahead and move up. You can see some greens there how that looks so again, really nice looking display watching content on this is really, really nice and enjoyable, and we can even go ahead and listen in to some audio here. So again, really nice looking display really nice sounding stereo speakers main speaker on the bottom and one up at the top, and we can even do a little more of a sound test. So let me go ahead and cue up a song.

We can kind of hear some music off of this all right, so I've got a song cued up here. This is at about 50, let's go to 50 on the volume, and so again this is chosen beats if you're looking for some beats for your YouTube videos or whatever you want some royalties free music check out. Chosen beats. Club they've got some perfect selection there, but let's go ahead and play this at 50 volume, and we can bump it up to let's go 100 all the way up, so even covering up the bottom speaker, you can still clearly hear that coming out of the top speaker, it's actually a pretty decently loud top speaker. So again, pretty good speakers there, uh very loud, even when you muff cover up the bottom you're not going to muffle it up at all.

The top speaker is actually much louder than you would think for a top firing speaker there. Okay, so let's go ahead and talk about battery life and my experience with that and what that's been like and as always battery life is really dependent upon each person. Everybody uses their phone differently. So this is just what I'm experiencing. You may experience something a little different depending on how you use your phone, but this does have a fairly large 4500 William hour battery and even though it has that 120 hertz refresh rate which usually sucks down the battery on most other phones, it's I'm actually getting some pretty good battery life here, I'll actually bring up some screenshots, and I'll probably put them on the screen for you to see as well, but I'm averaging about six to six and a half hours of screen on time through every battery cycle here, and I can get through easily one and a half to two days on every charge.

So that's pretty good battery life right there again. You can see here six and a half hours with over a day and a half off charge there a lot of YouTube viewing. I do use this for a lot of media consumption, as you can see, but of course, typical things, YouTube social media all that stuff and again here I went over two days with about almost again six and a half hours of screen on time. Similarly, lots of YouTube um, you know web browsing, uh, social media Instagram, all that kind of stuff. And lastly, I even got up to three days and shockingly still with almost six and a half are the screen on time as well.

Similar usage, lots of YouTube camera, Instagram, social media, all that kind of stuff, so again about six to six and a half hours of screen on time day and a half two days even maxing out at three days of battery life on a single charge. That's perfect! It also has Samsung's fast charging. Now it's not anything like OnePlus is warp charging, but it does charge decently fast. I think it goes from zero to 100 and about over an hour, so that's not the fastest, but again, that's not really too bad there. And lastly, let's cover off my favorite part, which are the cameras and, like I said in the beginning, this has a main 64 megapixel shooter with optical image, stabilization and a lot of these mid-range phones.

Have these large 64 megapixel 48 megapixel cameras which take pretty good shots during the day, but really struggle in low light and optical image? Stabilization is important here, and it's unique, and it's glad that they have it on this type of mid-range phone because it helps with not just stabilization, but it also helps with handshake and reducing that as well as low light performance, and so I've gotten some really nice results here from this camera, and I'm actually pleasantly surprised. It's really performing better than I thought it would, and I'll go ahead and go through some photos, and I'll probably put them up on the screen. So you can actually see the actual photo. But you can see here. This is a full 64 megapixel shot, not a pixel bin down shot, and you can actually put it into that full 64 megapixel mode, and I would encourage you to do that.

If you have perfect lighting because then you're going to capture the most amount of detail, as you can see here, you can zoom all the way in, and it retains a lot of that detail in that flower and because it's a larger sensor, you can see that natural both or background blur and separation of the subject, and this is not a portrait mode shot you. This is something you expect to get from portrait mode, but this is just all from the main sensor in normal, auto mode here. So really nice shot there, and you can see here. This is a portrait mode shot of my dog. So really nice background blur pretty good edge detection here as well.

You can see a lot of the detail retained in the dog's fur, sometimes even with good lighting. A lot of the fur gets kind of muddled out. You don't really see that detail so really nice job with keeping that detail from this large sensor here and a pretty good portrait mode shot you can see here. This is a zoomed in shot. That's digital zoom! It's not going to be all that great! So really not the best as far as a zoom performer, but it's really not meant to be.

You can see here. The blues and the greens are really pumped up and exaggerated, like you would expect from Samsung, and I think a lot of people do like this. Look it really the photos really pop, and it's very eye-catching so either you like that or you don't. I think a lot of people probably do like that, but that's typical Samsung for you- and here you go ultra-wide angle, shot again really pumped up and saturated and exaggerated blues, and even the greens are very, very green, so but again very eye-catching, you're gonna, it's very striking um. You can see some photos here, there's some red it pretty much crushes out that red you're not gonna, see a lot of detail, but actually I've seen a lot worse.

This is actually not too bad. Most camera phones are going to struggle with this type of really bright red color and some of this kind of afternoon light. So overall, not too bad. Really I've seen a lot worse, but that's pretty typical and here's where it really shines. You're going to have a lot of that detail on this sensor and all these flower photos you're going to see a lot of good pedal detail.

You can see a lot of the detail captured in the pedals. Sometimes a lot of phones you're, just going to see all white you're not going to see any ridges at all in these flowers, and so it's doing a very good job of retaining that detail and again large sensors. So you get a lot of that natural both. With that background, blur and subject separation without going to a portrait mode and again here is more of a telephoto shot, I think or zoomed in shot still really nice perfect pedal detail all around we'll get this again really pumped up blues. I mean greens, that's like a very nuclear, looking green, that's not at all how green the grass was, but that's just something you'll have to deal with Samsung but again see you can see here a lot of the ridges in the pedals.

A lot of other phones will kind of muddle that out, and you won't really see that much detail there and even in the center of the flower. Details are very well-preserved and here again lots of detail in this lavender right here. So we're looking good here's, some different colors, there's some yellow and that's looking very nice as well good amount of detail. You can even zoom all the way in you can see. All of that.

So it looks perfect and here's some other colors, like orange, still very nice edge detection. This is again not portrait mode. A lot of good detail, a lot of very good, looking photos that are coming out of this, and we can move over into some other photos here. Um selfie cameras, front-facing camera, actually not bad. This is with a lot of sun directly on me.

So again, this is a normal shot, and then you got portrait mode which isn't too bad for a front-facing camera there in some afternoon, sunlight again same thing here: it'll detect the mask, so this is without portrait mode and portrait mode will still detect my face. Even with my mask on so not a lot of phones will do that, especially in this price category. So that's pretty good, and you can see here a lot of detail really preserved here in this flower if you zoom all the way in so even in the petals. Here I mean it's perfect. Looking photo more selfie shots here, you can see here very good.

Pretty decent edge detection looks pretty good in the shade very well-balanced. Here's another portrait shot of an object, so it can take portrait shots of non-human subjects which not all phones do iPhone. You know so um you're, getting pretty good photos here, uh and pretty good camera performance at a much lower price than these thousand dollar plus phones here, and we can go into more of some low light shots. Actually, if you want to look at some dynamic range, I know those are some bad words to people, but really high dynamic range is important because it really contributes to really striking looking photos. I mean in this photo there's a lot of shadows in this green.

So a lot of this green is very dark, but the HDR will kind of boost, lift the shadows and kind of just boost up everything and make it look really nice and striking, so it even balances out that really bright, sunlight, that's peeking through, so it's doing a very good job. As for with its HDR processing and here's some low light photos, this is ultra-wide angle. Camera you can see actually looking pretty good a lot of ultra-wide angle. Cameras don't perform too well at night. This isn't looking too bad, and this is with night mode.

So some pretty good-looking photos. You can see a lot of detail here in the roadway here. Sometimes that looks really smoothed out on phones, so still capturing good amount of detail and handling these lights pretty. Well, it's not flaring them out, like some other phones may so here's what night mode looks like front facing camera actually doesn't look too bad, even in low light. You can see here not too bad.

All things considered, most front-facing phone cameras are gonna, look pretty poor in these low-light situations, so this isn't doing too bad. There's night mode, you can see some other photos and even here right low-light photo of my dog. This is pretty dark, and it's even preserving a good amount of detail in the fur, even in low light, especially in low light. This would get totally washed out most of the time. You wouldn't see this kind of detail- and this is the night mode feature here.

So this is looking actually really, really nice here and even takes portrait mode and low light. So this isn't too bad performance here for a low light portrait mode for a smartphone camera, and I'll, throw up some more photos, and you can kind of see that all but overall, pretty impressed even in low light here, you can see here it's retaining a lot of the light. So it's its really exposing this this this building light very well. I mean this is it looks even darker than this, and usually all you can see- is this kind of lit up top of there and a lot of times most phones will kind of blow out that light. It would look very muddled.

You won't see any detail in that area. There so looks perfect, not really blown out. The exposure is actually pretty, even so very good performance here, I think, for a mid-range phone. Although it's not really that cheap, I mean it's like 500, but still overall, pretty good performance, and if you put this up against even the s21 photos, even the s1 ultra, I'm pretty sure it could get pretty close, and only if you look at them back to back you're going to really be able to tell a lot of difference. This is not just usable.

This is very good camera performance at probably half the price of some of those higher end phones. So there you go that's my three week or so follow up on the galaxy. A52 5g I'll be doing a review on this at some point in the future. I want to use it some more overtime and really give it the attention that it deserves for a full review, since I have been splitting my time between this and the OnePlus 9 pro, but if I've not covered anything in this video or my unboxing or any of the camera comparisons that you want to see. Let me know in the comments, and I'll try to answer your questions other than that, thanks for watching.
