Redmi Note 10s Review - Best of the series? By Izzi Boye

Okay... So, what do you call a device with the body and build quality of the Redmi Note 10 but a processor just as powerful as what we have on the Redmi Note 10 Pro and no high refresh rate display? Well Xiaomi has an answer, it is the Redmi Note 10s. Wadup guys my name is Izzi and welcome to my review of the Redmi Note 10s. You know, when I first saw the spec list, price and design of this device, for a second I was a bit confused. The Note 10s sits at a comfortable spot between the Redmi Note 10 Pro and the regular Note 10, both of which I have reviewed on this channel. I'm going to leave links down in the description.

The Redmi Note 10s is pretty much built like the Note 10 with Gorilla glass 3 on the display and plastic on the rear, but it is running on the Mediatek Helio G95 a processor which is just as powerful as the Snapdragon 732G you're going to find on the Redmi Note 10 Pro, though with a 12 nanometer process. Also, it is priced somewhat in between the Note 10 Pro and the regular Note 10. So that kind of puts the consumer in a tough spot to make a decision. Hopefully by the end of this video you should be able to decide whether to actually buy the Redmi Note 10s or any of the aforementioned devices. So the Redmi Note 10s like most Xiaomi phones comes with the typical accessories in the box, usually no earphones.

Also comes with a pre-installed screen protector. All buttons and ports are positioned as expected with the USB-C port, headphone jack, one of dual noise cancelling microphones, and also one of dual stereo speakers are at the bottom. The second stereo speaker is at the top near the earpiece. There is also another outlet at the top where sound comes from, so you get lovely stereo sound experience. It also has the second noise cancelling microphone at the top right next to the IR blaster.

a handy feature which allows you to control electronic devices when you can't find your remote control. The volume rocker and power button sits comfortably on the right frame. The power button also doubles as the fingerprint scanner, it is easy to reach and as responsive as a physical fingerprint scanner can get. The Redmi Note 10s accepts dual nano sim cards and a micro sd card. You have the slots towards the top of the left frame.

The design on the Redmi Note 10s is spot on Redmi Note 10, much so you can't even tell the difference. It has a plastic rear though with a matte finish. The color I have here is the ocean blue which has quite a nice gradient design, more like a combination of silver and blue. Its quad cameras and flash is positioned to the top left in a singular bump. The device frame is also built of plastic.

Its display is protected by Gorilla glass 3 and it is 6.43 inches in size, with its selfie camera in a center hole punch. It is a stunning AMOLED display with a resolution of 1080 by 2400 and a peak brightness of 1100 nits. No problem with brightness levels for outdoor use. Compared to the previous generation, that is the Redmi Note 9s which had an LCD display, this is a significant improvement. As you would expect of an AMOLED display you have vibrant colors and deep blacks.

You will enjoy viewing media on the Redmi Note 10s. You have the option to set the display color settings to either standard, saturated or auto, which is the default. One thing the display. lacks is a high refresh rate. Just like the Note 10, it has a 60hz display Now I'm sure most users would've preferred a 90hz display at the very least.

Most devices that come around this price point currently have this feature. With the size, curved rear and matte finish, the Redmi Note 10s is quite convenient to handle even on one hand. You might not bother much about the absence of a high refresh rate display though as this device is still pretty snappy to operate. The Redmi Note 10s runs on Android 11 and comes with MIUI 12.5 right out of the box which is the latest version of Xiaomi's custom UI. You still get a lot of bloatware applications you might need to uninstall and you might experience ads when you use the device file manager or after installing an application.

Aside that, MIUI is a feature packed user interface and it is highly customizable. The Redmi Note 10s has a few memory options with the base being 6 gigs of RAM and 64 gigs of storage, and the highest configuration being 8 gigs of RAM and 128 gigs of storage. I have the 6GB 128GB combo which I'll say is the sweet spot and the option I recommend if you want to purchase Redmi Note 10s. But if you can afford the highest configuration I would say you should look at the Redmi Note 10 Pro instead. On other specifications, it runs on the Mediatek Helio G95 12 nanometer processor which like I mentioned earlier is just as powerful as the Snapdragon 732G which you find on the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Its benchmark scores is pretty high and it actually has the performance to match. For its GPU it has the Mali G76. From my experience it has really good gaming performance and unlike my experience with Redmi Note 10 there were no crashing during play. Genshin impact comes with a default medium graphics settings which runs flawlessly, you can take it up a notch to high graphics settings and still experience smooth gameplay with very minimal lags and no crashes. With Call of Duty Mobile you can play at high graphic settings and maximum frame rates and also express no issues.

I say this is a pretty good choice for gaming. In the battery department, the Redmi Note 10s packs a 5000mah battery. With the absence of a high refresh rate display you can expect to get up to two days of use on a full charge. Speaking of charging it supports 33 watts fast charging and the charger that comes in the box can power it up from zero to 55% in just 30 minutes. You can get a full charge in about one hour.

The camera configuration on the Redmi Note 10s is very similar to what we have on the Redmi Note 10. Actually, it's the same with the only difference being the 64 megapixel main camera. It has an 8 megapixel ultra-wide camera. a 2 megapixel macro camera and also a 2 megapixel depth sensor. For its selfie we have a 13 megapixel camera.

You will be able to take good pictures on its rear camera with good dynamic range. You can get high resolution photos by switching to the 64 megapixel mode. Its ultra-wide camera also do a pretty good job with quality. For its macro camera you can keep the expectations low as it is just 2 megapixels. Its selfie camera suffers the same fate as most Xiaomi mid-range phones with over-processing and losing facial details as if you have beauty mode turned on.

Sadly there might be no GCAM to the rescue for this one, but I guess it's too good if you like your selfies like this. With night mode you can capture better pictures in low light and I think the Redmi Note 10s does a pretty good job. The rear cameras of the Redmi Note 10s can shoot videos up to 4k 30fps, you also get pro mode for photo and video. Okay... testing testing it's a selfie camera and microphone test of Xiaomi's Redmi Note 10s it's selfie camera is 13 megapixel just like that of the Redmi Note 10 and it can only shoot 1080p 30 frames per second on the selfie camera.

You can do 4k 30fps from its rear camera, what do you think about the video quality, what do you think about the microphone quality? It has a dual noise cancelling microphones top and bottom, let me know. The Redmi Note 10 is a great choice for a device on its own but when you consider its pricing and its position being between the Redmi Note 10 Pro and the regular Note 10, it becomes a little tricky which one to purchase, so here's my recommendation; I'll advise going for the 6GB 128GB version of Redmi Note 10s as I think that is good value, but like I said earlier, if you have a budget for the highest configuration of the Note 10s I would recommend looking at the Redmi Note 10 Pro instead as you get better value, better cameras, better build quality and also a higher refresh rate display. I might do a video comparing both devices soon so you might want to stay tuned to the channel. Now if you're contemplating between the Redmi Note 10s and regular Note 10, I only recommend the Note 10 for two reasons; one, you don't need it for heavy gaming. The Note 10s struggles with gaming but shines on other areas.

Its cameras will barely make any difference from that of the Note 10s, and two you don't have budget enough for the Redmi Note 10s. With the existence of the Note 10s, the regular Note 10 is pretty much thrown under the bus.
