Red BlackBerry KEY2 in 2021: A Stunning Masterpiece!

Hey everybody welcome back to tech odyssey, so today, I'm here with something really, really special, and you probably already saw from the headline and the thumbnail already it's the red blackberry, mobile key2. Now this one's, not mine, I actually was loaned this by a friend of mine who wishes to remain anonymous, but in the event they watch this. Thank you. I've always wanted to get one of these, and I have the silver one edge almost dropped it. I have the silver one, as you all know, you've seen it in a lot of my videos, but this one right here is an iconic piece of blackberry history. It's really, really cool.

Of course. They've got the product red editions that have dated back a long time. We had the blackberry, 10, the z10, we had the red passport, and we have this. We have the atomic red ke2 LE, so the red devices have been around for a while, and they look really cool they do. I think that this is a really nice looking phone, and we go ahead and talk about this and show it off some, and this is more of a showcase video I've already reviewed the ke2 so many times I'll talk about the specs and things like that.

But really this is just an ode to the red blackberry key2, but before we get into that, I do want to say if this is your first time stopping by the channel. I appreciate you being here if you enjoy the video please hit the like and the subscribe button and little notification bell. If you want updates when new videos come out now, let's look at the red key2, so the red ke2 is a fascinating and unique device. It's made out of the same 7000 series aluminum that the other ke2s are made out of, so it came out in silver, came out in black, and it came out in this red color, and it looks identical. Everything is pretty much the same.

It's just this beautiful red color and then on the inside. It has 128 gigabytes of storage instead of the 64. That's in the regular ke2 model, so the key2 came in three colors. Originally it was available in silver and black silver or black, and then the red one came along later on. It was announced at IFA or IFA.

Have you wanted to pronounce it so same keyboard same screen, everything on it? Still the six gigabytes of ram. Still the dual cameras on the back. You can see here there's a subdued blackberry logo instead of the shiny one, so that's kind of a differentiation there, and then you've got the red aluminum, which is the entire body all the way around, and then you've got the cool red frets in between the keys. So you can look here: they're, color, coordinated I've got the silver one on the silver, the red one on the red, and I always wanted to get one of these. I just back when they came out.

I didn't have the money, and now they're so expensive. If you look around one bay, or you look around on other websites, these things are going for like 900 and up, which is absolutely crazy, because the phone's not worth that much. If it was, they wouldn't be there, people would have bought them already. I think that the magical price points, probably somewhere still around the 600 ballpark. They were carrying a little heavier price tag before there was the announcement that the new Omar mobility device is going to come out later this year.

So whenever that was announced, the prices kind of started to drop on a lot of the other blackberry devices, I mean the regular ke2 were going for four and five hundred bucks just a few months ago. So this one you can see it looks absolutely gorgeous I'll get here up close, so you can see it. This red and black just looks perfect together and then the metal itself. It's not shiny, but it's not flat. It's just kind of there, and it looks nice.

I like the way that it looks it catches really well with the light, and this is something that, if you want a conversation piece like, if your phones are look so similar nowadays- and I was just talking to a buddy of mine yesterday, I was like hey you are happy about the new Samsung Galaxy s21 ultra hooray, it's great, and he's like yeah, but I'm kind of tired of these candy bar slab phones. They all look the same. If you look at them from the front, they almost all look the same and that's one of the great things about having a blackberry keyboard phone, because it looks unique, and I think that this concept and this design holds up well and some people are like. I want a key three. I want a key three.

The key three names is not going to happen, because that was exclusive. That's part of the naming concept or construct that blackberry mobile has so they onward mobility can't call it the key three, but I think the form factor holds up in some ways very well. What I've talked about that I would like to see for the next blackberry is something maybe a little shorter, so take a little off the top, but make it a little wider like I don't want it as wide as the passport, but it would be nice to have a little wider screen, but maybe not so tall, because it's really tall. I don't like the way it's balanced. You still got the fingerprint sensor built into the space bar here, which is nice.

You've got the convenience key over here on the side which is programmable, and then you've got the speed key down here, which allows you to switch back and forth between your apps with your hotkeys on the keyboard when you're inside an app which is very different from the long press and the short press that you would get with the normal keys whenever you're on the home screen. Because that's one of the cool things about this one, you can press the button. Let's say I'll hit t while I'm on the home screen, and it allows you to pop up and program a program, an app you can have a short press and a long press. So typically, I set t for twitter. I put f for Facebook, I put c for chrome and that's really nice and then, if you're inside the app well, if you're inside of twitter- and you will press t- you want to type, so they added the speed key, which is the one with the little nine dots down here.

If you hold that down, while you're in an app and then hit t it'll bypass the normal keyboard function, and it'll, send it over to twitter. So that's one of the great things about having a physical keyboard on a phone. A lot of people are like. Why do you want a physical keyboard? Well multitasking productivity and shortcut keys? That's a lot of different reasons. Look at you can like to program every single letter that can do a lot of things for you, as opposed to swiping in and out swiping up all the gestures, but also I'm really looking forward to the new blackberry device, because it'll have the swipe gesture based operating system, which is really, really cool just like on blackberry 10.

This is running android 8.1. Now it doesn't have android 9. , it doesn't have android 10. , blackberry, mobile and, unfortunately, that's where it stopped, which is very frustrating and the key2 has still been getting relevant security updates, at least here in North America. The 100-6 model has not been getting that, which is the international model the 100-2 has, which is the one that I have, but looking at them side by side.

You really can't go wrong, and this is really based kind of very much so on the passport. It looks a lot like it. It's got the same speaker great down the bottom. The keys look the same, the way that they have this flat, matte appearance to them and then the overall body, the aluminum design like it. It looks very much like a thin and tall passport and I think they did a perfect job with it.

Blackberry has been known for their special edition devices like the Porsche devices. I've got the Porsche p9983. I had the 9982 before that was for blackberry, blackberry, 10. , and I always wished that they would have made a Porsche design one of these, but apparently they just weren't popular enough. They couldn't get them on board.

I don't know what happened behind the scenes, but it would have been really nice if we could have gotten a Porsche model, blackberry mobile device that would have been iconic had they really done anything substantial to it under the hood, I probably would have bought it in an instant, but this video- I really just wanted to take an opportunity to show this off to you guys. I'm glad that I got it in my hands in person so that I can use it for a little test it out, and I mean it's the same as the other key twos. Furthermore, I'm just really excited to be able to finally see one of these in person, and I can't really go out in public right now to go. Do a lot of things, but this is something that will definitely catch somebody's eye like if you're at the grocery store, if you're going to the gym, if you're going somewhere, and you've got this out in public people kind of expected blackberries before a few years ago, but since they haven't been really been around so much lately. This right here is something that, if you take this out in public, someone is being like wow.

That is an absolutely stunning device. If you've got the silver one, yeah they're already going to be like wow, that's a really nice device. What is that blackberry, but they still make those they're like well, it's three years old, like okay, cool, we'll get to relive all that excitement. When the new onward mobility device comes out. I don't know what plans they have for the different colors.

Definitely if I get a chance to talk to them, I'll be like hey, maybe you should make a red one. People love the red blackberries. So if we can get a red blackberry in the future, I think that would be really cool. I don't think we'll see a Porsche design. I can.

Furthermore, I really don't think we'll see that, but if we could get a red one or if they even have a couple of colors, I think that would go a long way to help them stand out and get recognized. And this right here, great water, cooler, conversation piece, great conversation, starter, and it just looks so. Nice and it's built really well with the aluminum body design this whole one piece body with all the stuff bolted onto it: the beautiful frets in between the keys, the nice flat keys that allow you really nice typing experience very tactile. So that's all I've got in taking a look at the red blackberry, mobile, key2, special edition, really cool phone. If you've got one, I'm very envious of you, I would love to have one.

Hopefully I can get one for my collection one day that would be really nice, but right now I've got this one in my hands and again. Thank you so much to my friend who sent this out to me. I really appreciate it and the rest of the channel appreciates it too, because we love us some blackberries, and we really love this red one. So that's all I've got if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to leave them down in the comment section I'll get back with you. If you enjoyed the video, please hit the like and the subscribe button and the little notification bell.

If you want updates, when new videos come out and as always thanks for being here, I appreciate you watching, and I'll see you guys next time.
