Razer Phone review - 9/10 for gamers, 8/10 for everyone else By sony365

The hands that stack up after over a week of using it I will jump onto this phone in a lot more detail in this leg. What makes it look so aggressive is the fact that it's a metal black finish, and it just feels very, very Gerrard it still, despite that lighter than an iPhone 8 plus, for example, and it's also not that cumbersome I have to say I found it perfectly manageable, but bear in mind.

Definitely this is gonna, be a perfect gaming phone in two key areas, one the squared off top and bottom make it really comfortable to hold for long durations to you were never going to cover these speakers, but what's annoying about this phone from a design point of view, one is there is no headphone jack, but there is a dongle in the Box with a 24 bit DAC USB, C 2 headphone jacks.

What you get with one hand, you'll get taken away from with another, in the sense of that 125 Hertz refresh rate is beautiful, but the AMOLED punch and pop.

It is something that you feel is missing on a screen this size. So it's probably going to be a lot more appealing when more games take advantage of it, and that is going to happen down the line. Final Fantasy, Pocket, Edition tech end. All of these will, but right now you've just got four games. Regular games, however, do still look really, really good that additional screen size over a lot of smaller devices is really nice as well, and obviously those speakers smash it out of the park.

So the screen is good. Not my favorite out there I have to say in spite of that, incredibly smooth, smooth interaction. The user interface is Android 7 paired with Nova Launcher Android 7 has been tweaked a little by next day. You've got a few applications as a theme store. I can fire it up, and you can see it gives you pre-loaded Racer themes that and can take a while to load, but you can download additional ones.

They are all free, which is really, really cool. Race is really all about the community and more themes are on here than when I first got the device. There was no one's theme, for example, we can take a look at the process of integrating a theme. I can download that now see how long it takes over Wi-Fi. Twenty-Seven megabytes downloading pretty quickly gives you some information about the theme of video as well and even gives you the sounds that are going to be played back.

So this is a really, really nice cohesive, little feature set you're getting press apply and theme applied, worms fingers cross, it shouldn't take too long and there you go, and so we've got it applied there. It's customized the coloration of my settings menu as you can see and like you pad it will have also customized. My sounds too so the user interface customized, but also at the same time it's customized in a way, that's very, very malleable, because Nova Launcher is just that very, very malleable. You know what you can see, what I've done. I've set it so that I can pin icons halfway between other icons.

Long pressing or swiping up will deliver certain actions swiping down world there, but other actions I've said it, so I can have a universal search. A lot I Oh s, for example, swipe up anyways, pull off my applications, tray and pull down from the top jumping into the settings. You can also see there are some display options as well. None really only the refresh rate. You can lock down 120 Hertz if you want to, and then that applies that variable refresh rate, but the user interface also features gain booster, which allows you to apply specific, boosting or power saving features to specific games.

You can also customize the resolution output resolution from 720p right through to quad HD, and there are also options to share your diagnostic data with razor. That's pretty much, the only part of it. That's out of the ordinary. Obviously, if you use Nova Launcher, it's very extensive. If you don't like Nova Launcher, you can apply another launcher, including Google, now launcher or IV launcher over the top that 8 gigabytes of RAM on this thing should mean you have no problem with any of those rights.

Lizard face is pretty expunged, didn't have any issues with it in regard to stability was very, very nice and smooth, and the theme store gives you a really nice value at, especially if you are indeed a gamer when it comes to multimedia when you're watching stuff on here. It is seriously, seriously excellent. Let's see if it's going to get it go to be tech to YouTube channel, hey, hey, so tap Quran that and detect videos and can tap through on my blackberry motion, unboxing video, which you can check out. If you haven't already a 4000 million hacking, blackberry phone, and immediately you can see this isn't even ask for volume, and it's drowning me out so, so loud so Dolby thanks all come together to tune the audio on this really, really well there. It is a little tinny at top volumes.

Don't get me wrong. This isn't going to replace a Bluetooth speaker, but it will definitely knock any smartphone around out of the way, because it is just that louder and people are saying in the comments that it's got the same speakers as the ZTE axon 7, and if it do, I never got my hands on an exon 7, and that is very, very good going for said the one thing I can say for sure is you will not be disappointed in the speakers of the razor videos. Also look good because, let's face it, 18 by 9 is all well and good, but most of the movies were going to be watching these days or most of the videos, especially on YouTube, etc. , are going to be full HD and the 16 by 9 aspect. Ratio on here is perfect for that so between great movies, great music and, of course, great gaming, which I'll come onto in more detail, and now you've got an excellent multimedia experience.

So out of the box, you got 4 games on here. The take advantage of that 120 Hertz refresh rate you've got arena valid titan fall and gay club and a World of Tanks when it comes to gaming on the apps that support hundred and twenty Hertz playback, it's really, really cool, but even the apps that don't it's just great, no slow down even games like injustice, 2, which historically has been a really, really challenging one. The only downside when it comes to gaming really is a 64 gig storage. Now, that's normally ample, but when you do have huge games like Final, Fantasy 9, for example, and you've got like big WhatsApp backups and everything these need to be installed on internal storage they're, not too forgiving, and they don't play as nicely with SD cards. That's when you may hit some stumbling box down the line, but just generally speaking, it's super competitive, at least as much storage as a Samsung, Galaxy, Note 8, for example, or an S 8 plus, or an LG V 30.

So in that respect, given the fact you're paying over a hundred pounds less than either of those phones 605 pounds if you get it pay-as-you-go on three, the razor phone proves excellent value for money. Once again now, when it comes to that camera, it is a really hit-and-miss tail now. I can fire up a camera application and I can take the picture and I can see it's a really decent picture. Why is it decent picturing? Because this isn't actually the razor camera application? Oh no, the razor camera application is here. The razor camera application is, you see, just took a little longer to open.

I can flip the camera around, and you can see my options for the razor camera. Application are so limited. There's like some settings but the actual application options. Well, there are none I guess: I can put a grid on it. I guess I can set a timer HDR and all that, but no manual mode, nothing ready to geek out with now racer hasn't locked.

The camera AAP I saw you can install a manual camera, but they don't have particularly long shutter speeds, for example. So the pictures taken on it are fine, but they're, not mind-blowing and, what's even worse, is the fact that when you take a picture with the two times, zoom engage because it has that second sensor with the two times assume you're actually getting a worse picture. Then you would, when you just simply crop in on a picture taken with the primary camera at the widest angle. So the second sense it just feels a little redundant and I. Think we'd have been better off if razor had plumbed the money from both sensors in to just one really solid sensor, a leg, Google Pixel ? and in fact, speaking of Google Pixel.

To that camera, though, using initially is the camera app from the Google Pixel. This is the modded APK, and it delivers much, much better photos than a stock razor application, and you can see instantly the sharpness acquire T is better but, more importantly, the dynamic range is much, much better. So if you're getting this phone, there's a good chance, you won't be afraid of a little of modding and playing with your phone to get the most out of it. And if that's you, then, by all means you'll be able to instantly increase the quality of your shots by about thirty to forty percent by just downloading it now the camera application now Google has a lot of expertise when it comes to photos and as a result has more resources, they can plan into making a good camera application for anyone who doesn't know when anyone does mod Android i. e.

, add a skin on it, whether it's Samsung, whether it's were way, the only application that Google doesn't give you are their camera application. So that is why installing it as a third party, is probably the best option, because razor clearly doesn't have, or next bit doesn't have the resources to make a camera app. That is quiet as good downside. Also, it's the fact that the manual camera application is only going to allow you up to a point three seconds, shutter speed, so you won't get any of the versatility that you will get on a mate's of ten. But what you do get is decent video there's, no optical image.

Stabilization on the rear camera is just digital, but it performs very, very decently, and the front camera is sufficiently decent to plenty sharp. You wouldn't really want it to be any sharper, so the camera thumbs up in terms of if you want to mod and play about with it, but definitely the least impressive flagship camera around it. Just plain straight out-of-the-box connectivity wise you're, also really well served. You've got very fast.4G capabilities. You've got Wi-Fi Bluetooth all that stuff, not the latest version of Bluetooth, but with that four thousand William battery, you really are expecting to last more than a day the four thousand William battery powered mate, 10 Pro lost two days, but will the razor, unfortunately not don't know whether it's a refresh rate of the screen, the fact its IPS, as opposed to or just optimization, or indeed it could be, the Snapdragon 835 being a bit less efficient than the Karen? It really isn't for me to say, but what I can say for sure? Is it just doesn't last as long you'll probably get a day out of this really comfortably, but you will unlikely get any more than that is definitely can't stack up to them.810 provos. What that means.

All in all is that the Razor phone is a solid nine out of ten, especially given that value aspect. Excellent design- if you like gaming, squared off, and you're, always going to hear those speakers known impossible to cover up big screen plenty of room for on-screen controls.120 Hertz gives it something unique, and it's also very nice and sharp the fact it is an AMOLED means it isn't as deep and dark, and you can see it's quite bright, but that's still where it's getting washed out off angle and that's down to the IPS TO display, but still really, really solid there. What you also get is a very customizable user interface, some nice banner ads from Racer out of the box as well for games that support it with more promise from Taken through to Final Fantasy. So you've got big titles there. In addition to that, you've got a decent camera.

If not a class-leading camera about second lens was a little unnecessary. It has to be said, but what I can say for sure is the power under the hood. It wasn't unnecessary because there was no slowdown in gaming and the whole thing came together as a gaming device. Exceptionally, exceptionally well whack a camera application like Google cameras, APK will be at a mod modded unkind of sanctioned version, and you will get better pictures out of the box really, really decent and definitely physically. At the very least, this is the best gaming phone on the market.
