Premium G Power. Unboxing the Moto G100

How you guys doing today. This is Jason with tuna tech back with another video, so another cell phone. Interestingly enough, this is a phone that is in a series that is considered to be budget to mid-range, but they've kind of surprised us here with a new phone, all right guys. So what am I talking about? Well, there's a company you may or may not have heard of they've had a checkered past Motorola uh from the heights of the original razor to the pitfalls of the new razor to everything in between by changing hands new owners. Needless to say, they've had some interesting stuff happening in the timeline, but today I'm going to be opening the new Motorola g100. Now this phone isn't specifically new, I want to say it was announced, probably in March, but it was released overseas.

So I overseas I mean I lived in the US, so it wasn't released here. Um some interesting things about it. It's very comparable to a phone. That's been out for a while, as well called the Xiaomi Poco f3 same chipset, similar screen sizes, similar cameras. But what makes this unique is this is now available in the US where Poco phones have to be imported from the UK.

So what do we get here? This is the Motorola like I said, the g100 right here says the most powerful g ever, and that is true. This is one of the more powerful of the g series. Has a Qualcomm snapdragon 870, just like the Poco f3, it's got instantly connect any TV or display with ready for so this is our uh Samsung, DEX kind of thing or a new Lenovo tablet has something similar to this, and it comes with a compatible USB c to HDMI cable. Now one thing I'll be interested to see is in the UK version. This comes with a dock as well.

I don't know if this one does, but it is ready for compatible as it says right there. So the boxing is pretty generic, but before we go any further, what does this phone actually have? Well, like we said it runs. Android 11, which is pretty good. Motorola is checkered past again on updates. They have so many phones.

I can understand why, but as a consumer be ready that they may not have the best track record for updates. It's got 128 gigabytes of internal storage, the snapdragon 870. It does have expandable storage. Furthermore, it says with a micro SD card up to one terabyte, which is kind of a dying thing for most phones. Nowadays, it's got eight gigabytes of lpddr5, which is good.

It doesn't have under screen under the screen, fingerprint reader or back pain. Permit. It's got a side mounted fingerprint reader. That's I believe, built into the power button. But we'll take it.

You know. Look at that! 5 000, William hour battery comes with a turbocharger. This is turbo power.20. , I'm going to assume that's 20 watt charging 6.7 inch display with a full HD plus 2520 by 1080. It's an LCD.

So it's not AMOLED, so your blacks are going to be kind of hit or miss, but it is 90 hertz, refresh rate with DCI p3 color space hdr10, it's 21x9 aspect ratio. The front is covered by gorilla glass 3 with an anti-fingerprint coating and plastic rear housing, so that should tip you off right now. Another thing they cut out of this is wireless charging. It does have a 3.5, millimeter, headphone jack and an USB 3.1, compatible type c port with obviously a display port, because it has the radio on already now it's got a water repellent design, but it's not necessarily got an IP reading. It comes in iridescent ocean and I believe in the USS, the only color we're going to get on the rear.

Camera sticks. It's got a bunch, but here we'll go with the first one here. The rear camera is a 64 megapixel camera. It's uh. Let's see it's got a 16 megapixel ultra-wide and a 2 megapixel depth camera.

So I give or take what you want to say with that one uh. It does shoot video at the front. Camera does shoot video at uh full HD at 30 frames per second, so it does not do 4k on the front um the front camera is 16 megapixels, but it also has a secondary 8 megapixel ultra-wide selfie. So that's kind of unique. I want to say Huawei or somewhere else to the double, and it was fascinating how I had the wider aperture or wider range, so you could fit more people into this shot.

So that's interesting, but it is only 8 megapixels. The rear camera can do 6k ultra HD at 30 frames per second, so that's cool. It does 4k at 30 or 60 and so on and so forth. It's only got one speaker bottom firing and that's about it looks like band wise. Furthermore, it covers most of the vans in the US for time 118 t.

So if your sprinted or Verizon peace out, that's that Bluetooth 6. It says I'm not really sure. If that's true, it does have NFC Wi-Fi six and all that. So with that being said by the way, let's get this bad boy open. So it looks like here.

I don't really have a knife, I'm using a screw from something here, but we'll get this thing open, one way or another, all right, a little magic here we got it ripped open kind of tore that box up. But, interestingly enough, it's a box within a box. I haven't had a Motorola phone for quite some time, so this is actually pretty unique boxing for me. So again, I have two boxes here now. This is something I didn't know about.

So it looks like they're ready for cables in here and your phone's here before we go into the phone, I'm kind of anxious to see you know what kind of cable this is I'm going to assume it's just your standard, USB seat, uh, HDMI, cable again, I should have become more repaired with a uh knife magic to get it open and yeah. That's it. It's basically a big box for an USB to HDMI cable for the ready four. So you can connect this to your TV. They tout it as having when you plug it in um.

The phone will display. You know: do you want to just as a desktop which it'll be like a Samsung DEX? Do you want to use it as an uh like a kind of secondary screen? You can do that. They say you can put a Bluetooth controller. You can put your games on the big TV big screen TV because with the snapdragon 870, you have plenty of power to play most, if not all uh, you know google play games and so on and so forth. So again, I'm going to do some magic and get this open for us all.

Right see that magic. Look at that sticker. It's already gone so on the box, most powerful, Moto G ever 870 and ready for it's its touting three colors down here. I'm gonna! Guess it's just the way you the light, hits it is kind of reflects different colors without further ado. Let's get this thing open, so we got the phone on the top and within that we've got a box with just some paperwork and your sim injection tool.

But surprisingly it's one of my first phones in a while that did not come with the case. So Poco f3 has got another one up, it's cheaper! If you can get it, and it comes with the case, but this does come with your fast charging cable. So it looks like it's about all. There is to it in the box, so we'll get this moved off to the side, and we'll go ahead and look at the phone. So there's that really really really cool gradient.

Look! Oh, you know what I lied. You guys there is a case already on the phone. That is great. This is what I like it's cheap, but it works, but I'm going to be honest, not a big fan of flashy phones, but jeez. Look at that guys! It's purple blue-black gray.

I mean it's hard to probably pick up on the camera there, but beautiful, and then it does have a screen protector. I'm going to guess with this little white tab. It's got another one underneath there pre-installed, but there's your four camera array and I believe it's this right here. You see the white circle. That is the wide angle and also the macro and that's a light.

So when you're doing close-up photos a lot of times with a lack of light, so there's a ring light around that that helps illuminate what you're taking pictures of you got your you can hear the click, the power button and the fingerprint reader and your volume up and down. You got your headphone jack, USB type-c charging, port and a speaker, and then it looks like a maybe a. I believe this is a programmable button for the assistant or whatever you want to launch, and then your sim ejection that's about it. So I'm going to put it back in the case real quick for you guys, I'm going to power it on just to see if it turns on remember this is an LCD screen, not OLED, but it is 90 hertz I haven't had a Motorola in a while. If you can check this out, I don't know if you can see it.

If I get an angle on it, oh there you go with the kind of light. You can see the two cameras there, and it says hi there. So this is the motor g100 new to the US just right. Now the price is 4.99. I think it goes up 100 bucks more after that.

Yes, there's cheaper option like the Poco web 3, but they're not officially available in the US. This is a GSM only phone, so T-Mobile ATT. I do believe, there's no 5g on a t just because it's not certified uh there may be 5 GMT mobile. Don't quote me on that, but leave a like, and we'll see you next time.
