Pixel 4a 5G - DON'T BUY the Pixel 4a or Pixel 5!

In today's video we're going to take a look at the new Pixel 4a 5g or, as I like, to call it the Pixel 4a XL. Now at first glance, you would think this is just the same as the Pixel 4a, but with 5g instead of 4g, but no actually it's a little bigger a little wider. It's got a little bigger battery at 3885 William hours. It's got the same memory and storage at six gigabytes, ram, 128, gigabytes storage, but it does have a snapdragon 765 g processor versus only a snapdragon 730 g on the regular Pixel 4a and the nice thing about this one is: it's got the same exact cameras as the pixel 5, so you are gonna, get the extra wide angle lens on the back. This one also comes with android 11, where the Pixel 4a launched with android 10. This is probably going to be the best phone for someone like me who thinks the Pixel 4a is too small, and I think the pixel 5 is a little overpriced.

Considering this one's only 500 and the pixel 5 is 700. So let's go ahead and open it up and see what we've got that's kind of weird: they don't even put this in plastic: okay, yeah! This thing's really lightweight sim card ejection tool. Then you get your quick start guide and warranty information, USB c fast charging brake USB seed, USB c charging cable, and they also throw in an USB-C to USB-C adapter. You can see there on the front. It's got a hole, punch camera up in the left-hand corner.

It's nice how they always make the power button a little different, color this one's sort of bluish, gray or almost lavender, and then the power button is right below that and black microphone and headphone jack there. On the top sim card tray on the left-hand side, then you got the speaker and charging port there on the bottom. Then you get your two cameras there on the back right above the fingerprint scanner. Now the bezel on this is actually pretty small, all the way around just a tad bit larger on the top and bottom, it's got a really nice matte black texture on the back, and even though it's plastic, it does feel like it's pretty good quality. Nice thing is during setup.

You can choose dark or light theme, and they do say that you can save battery with dark theme, which is probably true since most the screen isn't lit up. I think I'll just leave it at light. For now, I'm sure most of you are familiar with how stock android works, but it does give you some tips here at the beginning, such as how to go home by swiping up from the bottom swipe up and hold, and then you can switch apps and then swipe from the left or right edge to go back I'll, probably end up using the navigation buttons just because I think it's faster, but that's that's just my preference. I like how they did the wallpapers, so it sort of hides the punch hole camera on the front. But to me, it's a little bland I'll, probably change it to something else.

Nice thing is they don't put hardly any bloatware on here. It's mainly just google apps, let's change the navigation and three button navigation, real quick! Now the notification shade on here. There's not really a lot on here. You've got Wi-Fi Bluetooth, auto rotate flashlight battery saver do not disturb airplane mode. Nightlight screen record and nearby share so far it's using about 15 gigabytes or 12 of the 128 gigabytes storage.

Like I said earlier, this does come with android 11. , swipe to the left on the home screen, and you're going to get the Google News feed. Here's a quick size comparison next to the OnePlus, 8t, iPhone 12 and the Pixel 4a nice thing. Are you get full HD on Netflix and 1080p resolution on YouTube I'll? Give you a quick, sound test of the speakers just to get an idea of what it sounds like? No. I didn't realize this because it's so bright, where I'm doing my unboxing, but it actually has backlit keys, so you can see which buttons are which, so that's kind of nice.

I also tested this on steam, and it works perfect on there as well. If you just plug it into the USB cable, it works right away. You really don't have to do anything. I tried it on a couple other systems just to see if it would work like the PS5, my PS3, I even tried it on the PlayStation classic okay, so the speakers sound loud enough, but I do notice. The speaker on the bottom seems a little louder than where the earpiece is not that big a deal, but just something.

I thought I would point out, of course, you're going to get one of the best portrait cameras in the industry right now, pretty fast shutter speed as well. Okay definitely looks like you get plenty of detail with this camera. As far as the modes go, you get night sight, portrait, camera, video and then in more you've got panorama, photo sphere, slow motion, time-lapse and lens. Now you can choose the wide crop, 16x9 or 4x3 aspect ratio. It looks like it does record 4k video up to 60 frames per second, so that's nice.

It's also got video stabilization. Now I'll just show you a few samples of photos and video just to give you an idea of what to expect from the Pixel 4a 5g uh huh. As you can see, the benchmark results are a little higher than the Pixel 4a. So it's going to be similar performance to a galaxy, a71 or Redmi. Note 8 pro, so I went ahead and started playing some games on here, like PUBG mobile Call of Duty, mobile and asphalt 9.

Everything played nice and smooth as expected. So if you saw my video on the Pixel 4a, it's going to feel and look very similar to the performance on that phone, which was pretty good. I mean there wasn't any glitches. Everything looks nice and sharp, and here's the graphics on PUBG, mobile and frame rates. I'll show you a little more game footage just so you can get an idea of what it looks like now to me.

I think, even though you don't get things like wireless charging, which you're going to get on the pixel 5, I just don't know if it's really worth the extra 200 to get a few extra things such as wireless charging. So to me this is definitely one of the best mid-range phones you can get especially around that 500 mark in the United States. Anyways you've got one of the best cameras on the market. You should get a little better battery life than the smaller Pixel 4a. I personally like the bigger screen on this over the smaller Pixel 4a, but if you're someone who wants a smaller phone, you really can't go wrong with the Pixel 4a either.

So, if you saw my earlier videos on the Pixel 4a, I said not to buy that phone and one of the big reasons was, I knew the Pixel 4a 5g would be coming and for me, it's sort of that in-between phone that I wish they would have come out with when the Pixel 4a launched so yeah. If you're on the fence about buying the Pixel 4a 5g yeah, I would get if it's pretty good. So if you've made it this far into the video, you may want to say thanks by subscribing and don't forget, to give a thumbs up. If this video was helpful, this is Brian from fish bee productions. Thanks for watching, and I'll see you on the next one, you.
