OnePlus 8T vs OnePlus 8, What are the Differences, which one to buy? By Techniqued

Hello friends welcome to technique. This is normal here and in this video we'll talk about the OnePlus 8t and the OnePlus 8, so OnePlus 8 was released, or rather launched back in April 2020 and uh. Probably after six months now we have the OnePlus 8t launching for almost similar pricing. So what are the differences? OnePlus has uh got with the new OnePlus 8t compared to the OnePlus 8. So that's what we are going to analyze in this video. So let's get started with a quick comparison of what is new on the OnePlus 8t compared to the OnePlus 8. So let's get started so, first, if you look at the design aspect, you can see that uh, uh, the back panel, has gone in for a major change. We have the sender mounted vertical camera unit on the OnePlus 8, which is quite good. We had that uh triple camera setup on the OnePlus 8 with the OnePlus branding, and here also you can see the logo now with the OnePlus 8t things have changed now. The camera layout is completely different.

Now we have a kind of rectangular kind of camera layout with curved edges, which actually is a refreshing change, but then it looks kind of similar to the Samsung's s20 series smartphones. So there is no uniqueness to this, but again we feel that both are equally good. Now, it's a personal choice on whether you liked the OnePlus 8t design or the OnePlus 80, but in our opinion, OnePlus 80 definitely brings a bit more refreshing design to one plus devices. Now both are pretty good in terms of build quality. Now, if you look at the front panel, you can see that both are again similar.

The punch, hole, camera and the layout are quite similar. The display aspect we'll talk about in a while, but if you look at the front panel again, nothing much different now build quality wise both are equally good. Both are made of glass and aluminum, and you can see that two really premium looking smartphone and the glass build, looks perfect. Both are protected by gorilla glass, so in terms of build quality uh both are equally good. We don't see any major difference here now.

Next, let's talk about the display, so display is one area where there is a difference now, a couple of differences, one is the one plus 8t has 120 hertz refresh rate, so we'll just take the settings, and we'll just show you the options so uh you can just go to the display option and if you see the advanced settings you can see here refresh rate 120 and 60 hertz. While here we have on the one plus uh eight, we have 90 hertz and 60 hertz. So these are the two options available. While we have 120 hertz, refresh rate so refresh rate as improved so 120 hertz super shade definitely brings in a bit more smoothness. You can see that it's a bit smoother display than uh the OnePlus 8, but again not a major change, although it definitely gives a slight slightly smoother experience with the OnePlus 8t now.

Another major change we feel is the display curvature. Now you can see that the OnePlus 8 has a curved display towards the edges. Now a curved display actually looks good, but the problem is that curved display is responsible for a lot of accidental touches, because you touch the edge of the display and this we have actually felt when we are using the OnePlus 8 pro as well. Now with the OnePlus 8t, you can see that uh there is no curved display. You can see it's a flat display, so we feel this is definitely welcome.

Change, because uh curved displays that do tend to have accidental touches a lot. But again they do look good in terms of the design aspect, but we feel a flat displays are kind of more useful. Now talking about the software. Now, both the devices have android 11 right now, uh OnePlus 8t came with android 11 out of the box. While we have an update for the OnePlus 8 pro 8 as well now both have you can see that both are running on the latest version of android and the latest version of OxygenOS.

So here you can see that both are running on android 11 and OxygenOS 11. Now, in terms of performance, both have the Qualcomm snapdragon 865 OCTA core processors. Now the OnePlus 8 is offered in a six gigabyte transmitted, while the 80 comes with an 8 gigabyte ram variant. So there is an uh difference, so the OnePlus 8 six gigabyte ram was available only in India. Now one plus 80 starts with eight gigabyte ram.

Now performance wise. We don't see any difference here. Both are equally good. We have done its status comparison of these two devices, so you can have a look at the speeders uh not much to choose here, because it did have a slight edge of the 80 uh, nothing much other than that. Now.

Both of them have a LP DDR, uh, 4x ram and UFOs 3.0 support. So no major change there as well. So it's performance wise both are equally good. Now. Next, let's move on to the camera so before going into camera, both having display fingerprint scanner and here again the performance is equally good.

The call quality and everything remains almost the same, no major difference now. Moving on to the cameras, so here there is a major difference, and now primary sensor remains the same. We have an f-stop 1.7 aperture, while we have f-stop 1.75 aperture on the OnePlus 8. Now uh secondary 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle camera also remains the same, not much of difference. Now the macro sensor has been improved.

We have a 5 megapixel macro sensor on the OnePlus 8t, while we had a 2 megapixel macro sensor. Now the 2 megapixel macro sensor on the OnePlus 8 was kind of very poor or average in terms of performance. That's where the OnePlus 8t has made a change. You also get a fourth two megapixel mono sensor, which is available on the OnePlus 8t. While the OnePlus 8 is a triple camera setup now front panel, you get a 16 megapixel, selfie camera.

That again is unchanged, but processing is different. We will also see how the camera experience has been. So here you can see that, while the camera performance of the OnePlus 8 was kind of average or slightly above average, there has been a slight improvement in terms of overall quality with the OnePlus 8t. But again, OnePlus 80 is not a stellar performer. In terms of camera experience, our camera review is coming up soon, so we will analyze the camera spectra later.

But here, if you look at the camera quality, you can definitely see that the OnePlus 8t has improved in terms of camera performance when compared to the OnePlus uh, both in terms of the daylight shots and low light experience, even in selfie experience. The OnePlus 80 definitely has an improvement over the one plus eight. So if you're more interested in camera aspect, definitely the OnePlus 8t has an improved camera over the OnePlus 8. Now. Finally, moving on to the battery experience and charging, now we have a 4500 my capacity battery on the OnePlus 8t.

While we have a 4300 my capacity battery on the one plus eight now the bigger uh upgrade is the charging technology. We have a 65 wattage walk charging on the OnePlus 8t. While we have a 30 watt charging on the OnePlus 8. Now 65 watt, our charging takes around 39 minutes to charge from zero to 100 percentage for a 4500 my capacity battery compared to around uh 65 minutes on the OnePlus 8 for a 4300 my capacity battery. So that's definitely a welcome move uh in terms of the charging technology and OnePlus brings in the new 65 watt charging to OnePlus 8t now battery life again uh, not much of the difference, even though there is a 200 my capacity difference.

You also have to consider the 120 hertz reference rate on the OnePlus 8t compared to the 90 hertz on the OnePlus 8. So battery life remains almost same now. Talking about the pricing now with the launch of the OnePlus 8t OnePlus 8 pricing starts at 39.99, so that's the base pricing, 66 gigabytes, ram and 120 gigabyte storage at 39, triple line and the 8 gigabyte ram and 128 gigabyte storage variant is priced of 41.99 for the OnePlus 8, while the OnePlus 8t is priced to 42, triple line for the 8 gigabyte, ram and 128 gigabytes storage. Now, if you're looking on a slightly more affordable option, definitely the six gigabyte ram is more affordable than the new OnePlus 80. But if you are looking at eight gigabyte ram uh, that is only just thousand rupees difference between these two devices for additional 1k, you get a 120 hertz refresh rate, then battery uh charging is different.

Battery capacity is improved and also better camera performance. So we would suggest you to uh pick the one plus 80 if you're going for an 8 gigabyte ram variant. But if you are slightly short of money- and you want a slightly cheaper option than the one plus eight six gigabyte ram at 38 39 is almost 3k cheaper than the OnePlus 8t. So out of these two, if you're going for a new device, obviously we would suggest the OnePlus 8t, but if you're already OnePlus 8 user, I wouldn't suggest you to upgrade to 80 because not much of a difference in terms of overall experiences. The battery has improved, but in fact the charging has improved and slight camera improvements, but then it's not worth to sacrifice eight and get the 80 that much upgrade is not available here.

So that is the differences of these two devices in terms of overall aspects, so hope.
