OnePlus 8T Real-World Test (Camera Comparison & Battery Test) By TheUnlockr

Morning another day, another real world test today we're doing it on the OnePlus 8t, so pretty um. But if you're not familiar with this channel, I'm going to go through my normal day. My sim card is in this phone, I'm using all my normal stuff that I always would um, and we're gonna check in on the battery and see how it's doing throughout that day and also take some photos on it and some of its competitors and put them up on the screen. So you guys can kind of see how it does, but first things. First, I have to catch a boat Wall Street, okay, one boat down one to go in case. You remember where we're going today.

I started out in Williamsburg, which is where I live. In Brooklyn uh took a ferry to Wall Street which is in Manhattan, and now we're taking another ferry all the way out to like a little peninsula, basically in Queens kind of at the end of well at the end of queens called rock away. So, okay, after about a two-hour ferry ride, we've made it to rock away, which is kind of like this little beach town at the very edge of New York city limits. I had to walk for 20 minutes, but I found it. I mean you knew it was coming coffee check now, real, quick.

Let's talk about the design of the phone for a sec, so first up we're going to talk about this color. I really like it um it has this almost like layered effect to it, and OnePlus said that they did this to try to minimize fingerprints, which it actually does do a good job of doing, but regardless it's just pretty. It also has a super bright screen, which I can see just fine, even in this bright daylight, which is nice, and that screen is also slightly curved. But when I say slightly, I mean slightly it's just enough to kind of make it have an edge to edge display, but not enough to where you would accidentally tap anything on the screen, like you do with some other phones that have a really curved display. Okay, before we leave here, let's check in the battery like we do, because we haven't done that yet today it is 1 28 p.

m. We are at 67 percent. Is okay made it to the hotel. This is the rock away hotel, and it opened about three weeks ago. Hotel is like this really nice modern feel that I'm a big fan of but like with lighter tones.

So you still feel like you're kind of like in a beach vibe, but it has like a nice pool with drinks and little cabanas and stuff and even a rooftop, which we might have to check out later for the sunset, possibly as well as a new restaurant that they're opening on the ground for called Margie's, which is named after the owner's grandmother, which I think is adorable. Okay, I'm going to leave links to the hotel into all the places that I visit in the description below because you guys have asked for that before. But now I'm going to go down and meet my friend Hillary, who has been spending a good portion of time out here in rock away, with her boyfriend ever since covet started, but she's really busy right now launching a book which we can talk about in some other video. Now, of course, I'm here out of season, so a lot of things are actually closed in the beaches empty, but during the summer it's pretty packed. Much like I guess it used to be back in the day in the early 1900s, a railroad was built here and with it came the democratization of the peninsula with amusement parks, stores and resort hotels.

People from other parts of the city would all come out here for day trips or even stay for the entire summer. It was around this time that it earned the nickname the playground of New York by the 50s, though the region had fallen into an economic slump due to fewer people coming out. There's a lot of people coming out here during COVID-19, just to kind of get away from like the hustle and bustle of the larger main parts of the city and feel like their kind of outside it, even though they're still within the city limits.

Okay and now we're gonna head back to the hotel as quickly as we can because it looks like it is about to downpour and of course I come to like a beach town to show you guys the beach and stuff, and it rains on me. It's my luck. It's fine, but yeah, I'm gonna! I'm going to get back to hotel, pretty quick, okay um! Well, despite the rain, we still got a nice sunset decent enough. No complaints, um, it's a little windy up here. So I apologize for the crazy hair, but you do but real quick.

Let's talk about the cameras on this phone, so OnePlus calls this a quad camera, but that feels a bit misleading to me now when using the camera app, we have an option for our wide camera and then our normal main sensor, but then we have two times which isn't actually a separate camera like on most phones, but instead is a two times just digital zoom, which is a little odd to me. Considering. Besides these two cameras, they have two completely other cameras, a macro camera for taking close-up shots, which I always think is odd, because we've seen other manufacturers just add a macro mode into their camera. Apps do the same thing but with the normal sensor. So why would you put dedicated hardware in here for this, and then we have a monochrome sensor which we've seen on older Huawei devices, for example.

Now I was told that this is meant to capture more light and is used in conjunction with the other cameras. But again, another dedicated piece of hardware for this just seems unnecessary, like if it made a huge difference in the photos sure, but well you guys can decide for yourselves. Do you think it does with all the samples here in this video? I guess and OnePlus did something similar when they added in that color filter sensor in the 8 pro that really didn't have much practical use. Honestly to me, it just feels like OnePlus wanted to be able to say they had a quad camera system put in two sensors and then went okay. What are the cheapest other cameras that we can add in here to get to four? Apparently I have the whole place to myself and there's even a like.

You can eat on the beach, so I just have to say I asked the girl at the front what I should get. She told me and then like a choice of three toppings and a choice of this, and it's just a lot of choices, and I was just like whatever you like. Just do that, so I ended up with a chicken shawarma pita with some veggies that she put on it and a white sauce. It was the right decision, it is delicious but time to get out of here. So real, quick, let's check in on the battery, it is 8 21 pm, and we are at 34, and now I think, um well.

I was going to try to go to a bar and check out another place, but because again we are out of season everything kind of closes a little early, so I might just head back to the hotel, okay, calling it a night. It is 10:50 p. m, and we are at 18 now as far as battery life is concerned. Um here is my screen on time and my usage and all that fun stuff for anyone interested in that. But, honestly, I think it's its not amazing, but it's not bad.

It's good um! I would say it's probably on par with the Fe, which is itbeing probably the biggest competitor. I feel like right now, judging by you guys comments on that video, you were all curious about this, and then we'll see how the new pixel does when that finally arrives, but yeah again, not amazing, but not bad.
