Mi Pad Android Tablet Review in 4K with Pros & Cons

Hi there this is Transit and in this video we'll be doing the full review for the Xiaomi mean pad, and this is affordable. Android tablet by Xiaomi packing some very impressive specs, considering the price point and this product is sold in India. Why a flip cart for 13,000? Or so we don't have any flash sales, so you can just buy it, but again the availability is a bit limited and right away. You'll notice that this looks very familiar looks like an iPad and in fact the screen size is also the same. It sports a 7.9, inch screen and actually the screen quality is very good. It sports a very high resolution screen, which is 2048 by 1536 pixels that comes to a PPI of 324 and that's actually very good for a tablet, and everything looks actually very crest.

For example, if I open the Play Store you'll notice that the text etc. is very crisp and guys again, I'm shooting this in 4k. So if you have a 4k capable monitor, you can check out all the details and I have to say the screen. Quality is one of the highlighting factors about this device and if we move towards the back, it's a typical tablet style and this back I, don't like it. It's completely made up of plastic, and this is actually glossy plastic.

So I'm not a big fan of that, but we do have a couple of microphones over here one over here secondary microphone over here, and it also has an 8 megapixel rear facing camera, and it can record video in Full HD. If we go towards the bottom, we have actually dual speakers and I really appreciate it, because tablets are for media consumption, and I'm happy to say that the sound output via these two speakers is actually pretty loud, so I'm happy about that. Moving towards the bottom. We just have a micro, USB slot that'll be used for charging this device, and on this end we have the power on/off button and the volume rocker, and they are pretty tactile. So I'm happy with that, and on this end we have the 3.5 mm headphone jack. We also do get a front-facing camera, which is a five megapixel shooter and in fact you can't see it, but we also have a physical LED notification light.

So if you get an email or something it close which is unique to tablets, because generally we don't find that on tablets moving towards the bottom, we have three touch type O+ buttons. This is for the multitasking tray, you can move, and you can through the app like this, and if you can also hold this for further settings. For example, you if you want to add widgets, etc. , you can just hold this, and it works, and it's also battling as you can see, and this is the home button, and this is for the back. We can add widgets.

As you can see, these are some widgets, but again as it's a neat product, it runs on me UI, which is me UI, 6, and just today we got an update I've been using this tablet for the last 10 not days. Let me show you the settings and if we go to about as you can see it's running on the KitKat, that is 4.4.4, and it's running the UI 6.3 and regarding the processor use it's very interesting. It is part by NVIDIA, Terra processor, that's the keyword, and it's actually a pretty powerful processor. It's a quad-core processor clocked at 2.2 gigahertz and the RAM provided is also 2 gigabytes, and it handles the tablet actually pretty well. Regarding the battery again with most tablets, it's sealed inside.

So that's also the same with this one and the batteries are 6700 William power battery and in terms of battery life, I was actually pretty happy. I would say: I was casually using this tablet for the last 10 days and I had to charge it once in 3-4 days. So the battery life is also really nice. On this tablet. Now moving to internal storage, we just get one variant of this tablet that has 16 gigs of internal storage.

Me also has one more variant internationally, that has 64 gates, but they haven't introduced that one in India, so the one we get has 16 gigs of internal storage. But fortunately we have a slot over here, and you can add a micros card to this one, but again do note that this tablet does not have any cellular support. So it's just a Wi-Fi only tablet. Hence, even the GPS chip is not there on this tablet. Now, if we move to the performance of this tablet, the poor old performance of this tablet was very good.

As you can see, it handles the UI without any issues, and again it's Android underneath, so you don't have to worry, and we have full support for Play Store. So you can download many of the apps and use it and I have I installed a lot of apps and games also on this device, and they work actually pretty well. But one thing I have noticed is that, due to the screen aspect ratio, it's not the normal 16 by 9 or a 16 by 10 that we find on most other Android tablets, it's 4 by 3. Just like the iPad and I would say, some apps were not compatible. I would say about just about 5.

Odd percent of the apps were not compatible. For example, The Times of India apps was simply, as you can see. We saw this here and if I go there, it says it's not compatible. So I noticed this with a few apps, not all but a few apps, but most of the other apps ran fine, for example, Flipboard NDTV, etc. So you got to be aware of that.

Also, some of you have asked me if USB OTG support is there yes, USB OTG support is there you can just download this free, app called ES, File Explorer and via that, then you can access the USB OTG and that works perfectly. Now, as we are connected to my Wi-Fi network, let's quickly also check the web browsing, and we do have all the Google apps pre-installed. So let's just use the scroll web browser and, let's just for example, I already have been going to a few sites. Let's try this and, as you can see it loads, the web pages actually very quickly, and it handles it actually without any issues. Another thing is that I, like the touch sensitivity, the touch sensitivity is actually very good on this tablet.

So in terms of media consumption and web browsing, you will have a very good experience again. I want to highlight that the screen quality is very good, which is actually very important for a tablet and I would say. I was very happy with the screen quality provided on this tablet again for multitasking as I Tony. You can hit this, and you get to the multitasking, and you can jump between the apps easy like this, and let's say you want to create an app. You can just swipe it away, and it goes off.

It has two big of RAM and I would say for general operations it handled it without any issues and I also tested it with quite a few games and I could run most of those games without any issues, even at high settings. So, even for gaming, it is actually very good, but one thing I have noticed is that with extended giving and with be gaming, the tablet tends to get a little hard, particularly around this camera portion. So if you are a person who likes to play a lot of games and heavy games, I would suggest hold the tablet in this orientation. So that your hand does not go near this camera, because this area can get actually pretty hot, but with general usage, I did not notice any major heating, but the tablet, even with the general heavy browsing, etc. , does get a little warm.

But it's just slightly warm, so I won't be worried, but with gaming it can get a bit hot. Now, if we talk about the camera, the rear facing camera is 8, megapixel, shooter and the front facing camera is a 5 megapixel shooter and the camera interface is very simple. I would say this is the interface that we get. This is the front-facing camera. Let me just move to the rear facing camera, and we have basic things like you, have the tap to focus, and you can take a picture, and you click this, and you move to the video mode and from here you can get to the video.

But the thing is that Xiaomi hasn't, provided you a lot of options in the camera, so it's pretty basic, and I did take some pictures with this device and, as you can see, the camera performance is ok, but nothing that created my opinion. Even the front-facing camera was very average, in my opinion, recording this part of the video footage with the front-facing camera of this meat pallets of 5 megapixel shooter, and this is a completely artificial lighting in my off first. So this will give you an idea how we, the video, if you do it, use it for video chats, like Skype etc. So this is the footage in completely artificial light with the knee pads front-facing. So overall I would say this meat part is a pretty nice tablet.

But now, let's talk about the pros and cons with this device. Let's first talk about the cons with this device, as I mentioned earlier, I simply do not like this slippery black back. It's actually very slippery, and I even give it to my daughter for use, and she overall liked the tablet. But again she also complained that the back is actually pretty slippery. Also, one more thing I that I did notice is that, and even my daughter said, that with heavy games when you load them, it does take quite a bit of time to load those games, and even when you come out of those games, it takes about three or four seconds to come out, which was very peculiar also as I mentioned earlier.

If you do heavy gaming and extended gaming, this tablet tends to get a bit hot, particularly near this camera area. So you got to be aware of that now. Also, if we move to the camera, the camera quality I would say was pretty average. In my opinion. Now, let's talk about the pros of this device.

The biggest Pro I would say is the screen, which is actually pretty important for a tablet and I would say. The 7.9-inch screen, which is IPS great screen, is of very high quality, and I'm very happy with the screen quality provided on this device. Also, the sound output is clear and loud, and also when using the tablet, normally I did not notice any major lagging. And, lastly, it's the battery life I would say the battery life also on this tablet is very good. To sum it up, I would say: yes, it's not a perfect tablet, but taking into account the pros and cons and the price of around 13,000 I would say.

This is a very good tablet. I've also posted a separate video regarding the gaming with this me pad. You can check out that video for more info. That's it for now. I hope.
