iPhone12 Pro Max One Week Later - Is it Worth it??

What is going on everyone Jason here, and today we're talking about the big boy, the very posh iPhone 12 Pro max. This phone was made available to the public on November 13th, and I've been using it as my primary phone for the past week now testing out what it's like from a day-to-day perspective and seeing if the new features, particularly in the camera, are something to write home about, and then I've got some thoughts. So today I want to go over how my experience has been using this device one week later in case you're thinking about picking one up for yourself to really help answer. The question is the iPhone toll pro max worth it now before we jump into this review if you're new here, I'm basically the guy who tests out the newest and most popular tech out there before you buy them to make sure that you're informed and don't make any purchasing mistakes. That said, would really appreciate it. If you give this video a thumbs up, it really helps me out, and of course, if you want to stay up to date with all the coolest tech devices and toys make sure to subscribe to the channel, so you don't miss out on anything.

Okay. The first thing we need to talk about here is the size, because there's just no getting around it, the iPhone 12 Pro max is a massive phone. It currently is the new record holder as the largest iPhone ever made, and you immediately feel its presence once you get it into your hands now, if you're coming from something like the tennis max or the 11 pro max dimensionally, it's not going to be that much bigger, but with apple's new industrial design with its flat edge around the body plus the additional weight. The total pro max feels significantly more substantial in the hand now, despite the potentially jarring size, there's really no way to describe this phone other than using the word luxurious, I mean apple always goes the extra mile when it comes to build quality and the 12 pro max is no exception. The beautiful stainless steel frame not only looks incredible with its sharp flat design.

It also feels a lot more premium in the hand now no light it does attract a ton of fingerprints which I know sucks. But after a week of using this phone, I realized that the stainless steel makes it a lot easier to grip this device, which is pretty important. Considering the phone size you get no gap between the frame and the front and back glass panel and the frosted satin finish apple brought back with its spotless, centered Apple logo. I mean you could stare at this phone all day and not get tired of it. It's truly a piece of art that said much like anything that well put together.

Your instinct is gonna, be wanting to protect it, and I would definitely recommend using a case for this phone there's just way too many factors involved. That would make your chances of dropping it a lot higher than other phones that you might be used to, but that kind of makes the science issue even more of a possible problem with the apple leather case on this phone is truly massive, and it's not going to be the right phone for you. If you prefer something lighter more compact and easier to operate, you're going to need two hands for most of the actions on the 12 pro max and pocket space is really going to be put to the test, but what you get in return is probably one of the best content consumption user experiences available on a smartphone today, the 12 pro max is equipped with a gigantic 6.7 inch OLED display and the screen is the most immersive one to date on any iPhone. The bezel is slightly smaller than last year and it kind of gives off the illusion that the notch is smaller when it's really not, but you get a plethora of screen real estate here and, if you're, a power user, it's pretty fantastic reading text is super easy to do. Consuming HD video content is so nice, especially with the super loud stereo speakers, and this is probably my favorite phone to play mobile games with having a phone.

This size definitely makes it easier to do a lot more of the things you used to use a computer for especially considering just how capable the iPhone 12 Pro max really is the powerful a14 bionic processor cuts through even the most challenging tasks with ease you get no stutter or lag whatsoever when navigating around apps and another bonus with having the largest size is having access to the largest battery and battery life on this phone is pretty phenomenal. You could easily get through a full day of heavy usage with battery to spare. Much like last year's eleven pro max. Now, it's strange after a week of seeing how great the user experience is. It kinda also brought this inescapable feeling of disappointment, and what I mean by that is that I don't feel like the form factor of the 12 pro max is leveraged for all.

It could be there's still no real split screen, multitasking ability, even with this huge display, no Apple Pencil accessory integration, really no difference at all. Furthermore, it's literally just a blown up, iOS experience and the more you use this phone, the more you feel like it's kind of a wasted opportunity. Now, by far to me, the biggest disappointment is the lack of a pro motion display. Now I get it. High refresh rate displays can cause performance issues, particularly with battery life, but if there is an iPhone in apple's 2020 lineup, where I feel as though it would make the most sense, it's this one with a larger battery and more ram, I'm confident the 12 pro max could have handled the higher refresh rate and having one on a display.

This big would make this phone truly a game changer and could help justify it having the highest price tag again, it's weird because I'm not complaining about anything wrong with the phone's current setup, but I am left thinking a lot of what could have been, and I thought maybe something that could help me feel like. I have a more exclusive device. This year would be the camera upgrades that are exclusive to this phone. The primary wide angle camera sensor on the 12 pro max, is still 12 megapixels, but it's 47 larger than what's on the 12 and the 12 pro you get a 2.5 optical zoom, as opposed to two plus. It's equipped with apple's new sensor shift stabilization.

Now, a larger sensor means that it should be able to take in more light for higher quality photos, particularly in low light conditions, and the sensor shift stabilization should make it a lot easier to get sharper, stills and buttery smooth video. Even when on the move- and I want to start by saying as to be expected, both the photos and videos coming out of the 12 pro max are pretty exemplary. Apple has really stepped up with computational photography, and this year's image processing seems the most refined, starting with the front-facing camera. The selfies come out crisp and natural. This phone, in my opinion, does portrait shots.

The most organic and clean and Apple does really well with color accuracy, particularly with skin tones front facing video is also best in class, and it puts apples so far ahead of the competition here now. The photos coming out of the cameras on the back are also great images. Come out tack, sharp you get punchy, vibrant colors, get really consistent. Color reproduction between the three focal lengths and the added zoom is actually a nice to have, as I do enjoy the occasional macro shot when it comes to video with the rear camera again apple is in a class of its own. This phone can shoot 4k video in 10 bites Dolby Vision, HDR at up to 60 frames per second, which is pretty ridiculous.

Considering that's a feature. That's often found in really expensive cinema cameras and look most people are not going to know or care about the format in which this phone can shoot video, but you can take some truly incredible footage with this phone and just having this capability is testament to the a14's monstrous strength. Now, here's the thing, no doubt the 12 pro max cameras performed really well, but do the extra goodies that come with this particular package make it better than the other iPhones introduced this year. Well, in order to test this out, I compared it to some photos and videos coming out of this cheaper 699, iPhone, 12 mini, and I'm going to give it to you straight when it comes to still images. I really can't notice much of a difference at all they're seriously, almost identical, especially when in ideally lit environments even in low light conditions, I'm not seeing a difference large enough, where most would be able to identify which photo is coming from which phone, which is kind of discouraging even video from a quality and stabilization standpoint, is extremely comparable to each other.

There's really nothing here that, I would say, clearly differentiates one sample from the other. So, even though it's only been a week of using this phone, which I know isn't a lot of time, if you're looking to get the 12 pro max, mainly because you think it's going to be noticeably better than the rest of the iPhone lineup in terms of cameras, it's not it's as simple as that. Now again, that's not to say that it's a bad phone. In fact, I would likely put the iPhone 12 Pro max as having the best set of cameras on any smartphone right now, but it does beg whether or not the phone is worth it in comparison to the other, cheaper models that are available and in many ways just as capable and the short answer to that question is gonna, be no. It's not gonna, be worth it for most people, and I don't think it's much of a shocker as to why it has a large cumbersome form factor.

The quote-unquote exclusive features really don't make that much of a difference at all, and it's the most expensive. Now the small group of folks, for whom I would say it, is worth it for- are the true power users, if you're a content, creator or someone who legit doesn't even use a computer anymore and rely solely on their smartphone 12pro max gives you one of the most pleasing and powerful mobile computing experiences available today, and even though in many ways it's just a bigger iPhone 12 for some that's going to be enough to make it worth it. Okay, that's about it! For this review, don't forget to leave me a thumbs up if you guys found it useful again. I'd really appreciate it check out these other reviews on apple's newest iPhones.
