iPhone XR vs iPhone XS SPEED Test - Same Chip, Different Results

What's up guys, my name is Brannon, and today we're going to be running a speed test with the brand new iPhone 10 R. We're going to be putting that up against the also new iPhone 10s. So these are the two new iPhones of 2018, and they are very similar internally. They both have the same chipset. They do only have a 1 gigabyte of RAM difference, but there could actually be a speed difference between the two, so I wanted to test it out and see if there is, so we're going to be doing boot up test app, launching test web browsing tests and, more and internally, once again the iPhone 10 R and the iPhone 10 s both are rocking apples, a 12 Bionic chip and the 10s over here has four gigabytes of RAM, whereas the iPhone 10 R only has three gigabytes of RAM, so a 1 gigabyte of RAM difference. Let's see if that actually makes a difference in real-world usage and I should also mention that both of these devices are running iOS 12 point 0.1. The current latest version of iOS both have the same internals.

Let's see if there is a difference and let's start with a boot up test ISO, both phones are completely off, and now we're just going to press on the side button and three two one press at the exact same time on both phones. You only have to tap it, so it makes it really easy here, and it's looking like they're running about neck-and-neck right now. This should be a very close test. They should finish very close to each other. Here, let's see which one opens up.

First, you can see the bigger screen on the iPhone 10. Are they bigger Apple logo? It's actually like brighter here on the 10r as well, compared to the 10s, and they ten are actually beat the 10s here with the boot up test. So let's go ahead, put in the passcode. Now, let's go back to the lock screen and let's test the camera from the lock screen, let's see which one can get to the camera from the lock screen quicker, so we're just going to swipe over like so, and it looked like the 10s won that one just barely. Let's flip these around to the front facing and see if that makes any difference, let's go back to the lock screen here and let's go ahead and swipe over same time looked about even there, so it looked like the 10s may have taken this one.

Alright. So now we're going to do some app launching test, so I'm going to make sure that everything is closed out. So we're going to close out of all the applications on both devices, and we're going to start with gaming running through the gaming applications and then go through social media, and then we're going to test the RAM. So, let's start with galaxy of fire three and three two one Press that the exact same time on both devices looks like they're, pretty much neck-and-neck. At this point, I mean they do have these same internals.

So we're going to kind of expect that throughout this test, but we're going to see if that one gigabyte of extra memory makes a difference here on the 10s. So it looked like it was about the same or that could be able to run the game at the same time since we are logged into the same account, but it looked like the 10s and the 10 are we're about neck-and-neck they're. Looking about the same, so let's try asphalt, 9 now and 3 2 1 looks about even so far once again and look like the 10s has a slight advantage here, less than a second it seems like, but it does look to be loading a little faster. Let's see if it continues to go that way and yes, the 10s did beat out the iPhone 10 our we did get a different little screen there for some reason, but now we're going to go into fortnight same time there, and we're not gonna, be able to log in at the same time, but we will be able to get to this screen first and look like the 10 are actually beat the 10s there to get to the screen and again continues to beat the 10s throughout fortnight. So it's going to load potentially quicker as well yep.

So it looks like the 10 are beat the 10s for fortnight once again, we're not going to be able to log in at the same time, since we are on the same account. Yes, look at that. The 10r has about a second advantage over the 10s astounding there. So now, let's do pub G and three two one press at the exact same time here, and it's looking like the iPhone 10s is ahead by a couple milliseconds. So, yes, it looked like the iPhone 10s got to this screen.

First, we are loading. A different screen height here on the 10r I believe because we were signed in to the same account, but it did look like the iPhone 10s took it there by just about less than a second. So now, let's go to CSR racing 2 looks like the 10s once again ahead here. So it's looking like that one gigabyte of extra memory is actually helping launch applications quicker than the iPhone 10 are, so you can see there a decent difference between the 10s and the 10 are for some reason and CSR racing, so we're having very mixed results here, because the 10r did beat the 10s by a good margin and fortnight, but other games it seems like the 10s is actually opening up faster. Let's try opening up Instagram in three two one look like the animation was quicker here on the 10s, but the 10 are loaded up before the 10s on Instagram.

Now, let's go into YouTube. Once again, the animation looked faster on the 10s, but the 10 are loaded up content. First, let's go into Amazon. Once again, the 10s has the faster animation, and it loaded up faster this time as well. So social media looks like actually launches quicker here on the 10r, let's go into camera, and it looks like the focus little square.

There got on the 10s before the 10r, let's go into the App Store. Once again, the animation look quicker here on the 10s, but they load it at the exact same time, and then we're going to go into spice and run an exporting test to see which one can export video faster. Alright. So we have these same videos loaded up here because they are from iCloud we're going to load up, let's see which video should we do we'll do this 4k video that I took on the iPhone 10s max here. So we'll click both of these, and we have these same settings for both.

Let's go and click on done. Add a click is on the 10r first, because we're not doing an importing test we're doing an exporting test. So after this gets in there we're going to export it and see which one finishes: first, let's go and click on the export button up there, and we're going to click Save, and we're just going to do 1080p for this video. So let's do it at the same time in three two one click that the exact same time it's looking like they are neck-and-neck. It looks like the iPhone 10s may have a lead here.

Very close, it's really hard to tell which one's gonna finish first here you may have to put this in slo-mo, but it looked like the 10 are actually may have had at first I. Don't know the 10s. That was very, very close. Let me know in a comment down below which one you think finished: first, there I. So now, let's really put that RAM to the test here, let's see which one opens up.

The applications after they've already been running in the background quicker. So, let's start with Twitter look like the ten are actually beat out the 10s there so fascinating us to go ahead to Instagram and the ten are. Once again, we actually had a relaunch here on the iPhone 10s fascinating results here, let's go to YouTube and that was about even Amazon, the 10r launched before the 10s. Here, let's go to the camera and the ten are once again got the square before the 10s, so wow. This is astounding me.

Let's try fortnight again, there we go, so we do have any relaunch on both. It looked like the 10s actually did not fully relaunch like the ten are dead here. So fascinating results here, it's very all over the place it seems like, but the ten our overall seems to run better and the app and the background, which makes no sense because it has a gigabyte of memory less than the 10s so really confusing results here. So now we're going to run a Safari web browsing test, we're going to go to TechCrunch and three two ones. So it's looking neck-and-neck the ten are beat the 10s.

Here you can see by a decent margin like at least the second there. Let's go to espn. com and three two one same exact time and the 10s beat the ten are there by a few milliseconds and then just for fun, like I always like to do. Let's just run a quick Wi-Fi speed test. Let's start on the 10s here, I can't imagine, there's really going to be a big difference in this, but there always tends to be for some reason, a minor difference between all devices.

So you can see we got a 150, 7.3 download and an eleven point. Three upload so now, let's run it the same test here on the ten are on the same Wi-Fi network, and there we go just like I said: there's always a small difference, so we got 151 here on the download for the ten are, but it looks like the upload will be stronger, yeah point to stronger on the upload, so 157 verse 151. What eleven point three verses, eleven point: five, so not really a huge difference, but there is a difference there anyways guys there you have it. That is a speed test, comparing the iPhone 10s and the iPhone 10 are. We got some fascinating results in this video, so I'd really love to see what you guys think about this in the comments section below.

Let me know what you think down below and also let me know if you have owned these two devices that, if you're thinking about possibly upgrading or downgrading to one of them after seeing a speed test like this, of course, I wouldn't jump ship just yet wait until my final review on the iPhone 10 are what should be out in a couple of weeks before you make that decision. But let me know what you're thinking down there in the comment section but anyways guys. Thanks for watching the video stay tuned for a lot more I in our coverage, and I'll, see you soon.
