iPhone 12 vs iPhone 6S SPEED Test - A 5 Year Improvement!

What's up guys, my name is Brandon and in this video we're going to be doing a speed test between the 2015, iPhone 6s and the brand new iPhone 12, so the newest iPhone to be supported with iOS 14 and the oldest iPhone to be supported with iOS 14. So this should be very interesting, and it's probably going to give us a good look as to how much apple has improved their chips over the last five years, and it will probably also show how well the iPhone 6s still holds up here in 2020. So before we get started, let's go ahead and lay out the specs to see what we're working with so over. Here on the left, we have the iPhone 6s from 2015. It's rocking apple's, a9 chip with two gigabytes of ram and then over here on the right. We have the iPhone 12 from 2020, with the a14 bionic chip and four gigabytes of ram.

So we're gonna kick this speed test off with a simple boot up test, so we're going to shut down both devices and then boot them up at the same time to see which one gets to the lock screen. First, all right, so both devices are fully shut down, and now we're going to go ahead and boot them up at the same time, here in three two one press the power button at the exact same time on both, and we get a visual on the iPhone 6s before we do on the iPhone 12 and of course we have that white versus the black screen here, let's go ahead and see which one gets to the lock screen first. So if you guys watched my speed test from earlier, the iPhone 12 beat out the iPhone 11 and once again it beats out the iPhone 6s here, but not by much all right. So now we're going to run an app launching speed test. So, as you can see, we are closed out of all applications on both devices.

Now we're going to go ahead into some social media apps starting off with twitter in three two one press at the exact same time there, and you can see it loaded up first on the iPhone 12 just loaded on the iPhone 6s, honestly, not that big of a difference. Let's go into Instagram once again press at the same time and load it there on the 12 first, but again, not by very much, let's go into tick, took, tick, took loaded up, first on the iPhone 12 by a pretty good margin here. So it seems like when loading videos and things like that, more heavy web-based content, it looks like the iPhone 12 is going to just dominate the iPhone 6s, at least that's what it looks like from tick. Took there, let's go into Reddit in three two one red at first, a lot of web-based content as well as you can see there loaded up. First on the iPhone 12.

Of course, we are on the same Wi-Fi network, so that is not a difference there. Let's go into YouTube YouTube again, some web-based content heavily focused on video, so you can see that I was actually pretty close, and I recognized this video right here, but that was pretty close, looked like the iPhone 12, but not by very much at all. Let's go into Amazon here in three two one press. At the same time, there Amazon first again web-based content loaded up first here on the iPhone 12 as expected, not by very much once again, though, all right. So now, let's move on to some games, so I decided to do just some light games because the iPhone 6s is just extremely slow.

With things like Call of Duty, mobile pub g asphalt, 9 any of the main you know, major intensive games are going to lag on the iPhone, 6s and plus most iPhone 6s users. Probably don't have enough space to have all of those intensive games and big sized games on their devices. So, let's start off with something light like subway surfers, as you can see there, these are all light, but let's start off with subway surfers. You can see pretty big difference already, so we got there on the iPhone 12 still waiting on the 6s, and you can see quite the difference here when it comes to loading in games and also the iPhone 6s is starting to get hot right now, and we really didn't even do that much. So, let's go into uh.

Let's see, let's do among us here in three two one pressed at the same time among us is loaded on the iPhone 12. Maybe still thinking about it, so we're on the black screen on both devices. There we go loaded up first on the iPhone 12 actually not too far behind is the iPhone 6s. Let's go into slither. I, oh and first on the iPhone 12 as expected, and again not too far behind is the iPhone 6s.

So subway surfers was a much bigger difference because it was a bit more of an intensive game than among us or slither, but still pretty impressive, actually from the iPhone 6s for games like among us and slither all right. So now, let's do a web browsing speed test, so we are on the same Wi-Fi network like I mentioned, and we're going to go ahead and load up, apple. com see which one gets there first and the iPhone 12 got there a little quicker than the iPhone 6s. Let's try out, let's say Forbes, so we got Forbes right there in three two one Forbes loaded up. First, on still loading for both, we still see the bar up top, so the iPhone 12 iPhone, 6, still loading, and there we go on the iPhone 6s.

It seems like the iPhone 6s really struggles when it comes to video and really just any web-based content, it's significantly slower on the 6s compared to the iPhone 12 and let's go into espn. com press at the same time there and iPhone 12 loaded fully. Actually the ad is still loading in there we go iPhone, 6s, still, loading still loading and there we go. We finally have everything loaded in on the iPhone 6s. Once again, a big difference was with the ad right there, and just web-based content in general is a lot faster on the iPhone 12.

All right and now we're going to run a quick geek bench test, so you can see their iPhone 6s iPhone 12, and you can see all the stats right there, both on 14.1 we're gonna, run the CPU benchmark here and see how much faster the iPhone 12 finishes, and we're going to compare these scores on each as well. So I will be back once this finishes all right, so we finished up on the iPhone 12 just under two minutes, and you can see here, the iPhone 6s is still working. You can see the score here on the iPhone 12, a 1586 single core and a 4002 multi-core score, and there we go. We finally finished up on the iPhone 6s about a minute later we got a 547 and a 1037, so you can see there massive difference in the geek bench scores for both single and multi-core. So now, let's go ahead and test out the ram.

So we have a double the amount of ram on the iPhone 12 at four gigabytes compared to two on the iPhone 6s. So, let's see if that really makes a difference starting off with twitter here. So we have a reload on the iPhone 6s no reload on at the iPhone 12 Instagram looks like a reload. For both it looks like a full reload for the iPhone 6s. Just a soft reload there for the iPhone 12 tick-tock.

You can see there reload on the iPhone 6s no reload on the iPhone 12. Let's go into Reddit here, so Reddit no reload on the iPhone 12 full reload on the iPhone 6s. Let's go into YouTube for both so YouTube, no relaunch there on the iPhone 12 and a relaunch on the iPhone 6s. So pretty much. Every application has to reload, and you can see there no reload on Amazon, but a full reload on Amazon for the 6s crazy.

So, let's go ahead and subway surfers. You can see their full reload as well we're at subway surfers on the iPhone 12, no reload we're still at the screen. We left off on: let's go to slither no reload there full reload for the iPhone 6s and then. Lastly, let's do among us, you can see there no reload for the iPhone 12 and looks like a full reload for the iPhone 6s, so every single application had to reload on the iPhone 6s. I personally would not be able to live with that, so that alone should be a huge reason to think about upgrading to the iPhone 12 or even the iPhone 11.

Now I also wanted to test out the gaming on both devices to see if the iPhone 6s plays just and the iPhone 12 in terms of just being smooth and like if there's any lag and things like that with simple games like subway surfers- and I will tell you just from playing you know in the past and playing today as well. It is a little choppier on the iPhone 6s that's to be expected, but the games still play fine. I mean there's really. No, it's like nothing. That's going to make me rage-quit, and you know uninstall the game on the iPhone 6s.

Now it does heat up a lot, and it does drain battery a lot when you play games on the iPhone 6s, I mean this device has, I believe, like a 95 battery capacity, so it had a new battery put in it and everything. So it's still drained superfast. I mean when you play games, so that is one thing to consider as well with the iPhone 6s it's slower, and it also consumes a lot more power than the newer, more modern phones like the iPhone 12. So I think that the iPhone 6s is a solid phone still here in 2020. But honestly, if you want to do anything intensive on it, you're going to want to upgrade to something like the iPhone 12, especially for battery?s sake.

In case you just always have a battery like. If you always have a battery pack on you, then sure you know, keep the iPhone 6s, but you know there's a lot of reasons to love the iPhone 12 aside from just performance, but even just performance alone. You could see a massive difference in the iPhone 6s compared to the new iPhone 12. , but yeah guys there you have it. That is a speed test between the 2015, iPhone 6s and the new 2020 iPhone 12, a massive difference in speed as expected, but is it worth it to upgrade from it? I think yes, but let me know your thoughts down in the comment section below and if you still have an iPhone 6s right now.

Are you considering upgrading to the iPhone 12 or are you waiting for next year? What are your thoughts because I think next year will be the first year we see the iPhone 6s not supported with the new iOS software iOS 15. I do not think the iPhone 6s will be supported on that software. So let me know all your thoughts down in the comment section below and, of course, if you guys did enjoy this video, I would appreciate, if you gave it a thumbs up and make sure you guys subscribe for a lot more iOS 14, iPhone, 12, iPhone, 6s content, but anyways guys thanks again for watching, and I'll see you soon. You.
