iPhone 12 vs. Google Pixel 5 Battery Test

Today we're testing what will undoubtedly be apple's most popular smartphone in the iPhone 12, where it's going head-to-head against the latest and greatest from Google in the pixel 5. Taking a look at the spec sheet, the iPhone 12 has its work cut out for it. Not only does it have a smaller battery than even last year's iPhone 11, but it also has a higher native resolution. However, the iPhone does have the advantage of a more energy efficient, 5 nanometers a14 bionic chip, while also having a slower and less power hungry 60hz, refresh rate, whether that will be enough to overcome the sheer battery advantage of the pixel. Let's find out, this video is sponsored by any trans, the one-stop iPhone data manager. That gives you more flexibility when backing up and restoring your iPhone, such as letting you see what's inside, of a backup before you choose to actually restore it or having the option for incremental backups saving you both time and disk space.

It also comes with additional features like the ability to create custom ringtones, and it even effectively turns your iPhone into an USB flash drive, letting you drag and drop files and folders just like you'd expect. The best part is any translates. You transfer all of your data from your old phone over to your new iPhone with just one. Click learn more at the first link down below alright, we'll kick things off in the phone app where, after going on a one hour, phone call the two perform. Similarly, with the iPhone only doing slightly better pulling one point ahead here in messaging: we're texting back and forth with our automated chatbots, where this time it's the pixel that outperforms draining two percent less to take a one point lead in this email test, we're just opening up the same set of emails and then scrolling through them a couple of times when, despite having a higher refresh rates, the pixel does better once again increasing its total lead to 2 points.

Although that last test wasn't really all that processor intensive. But here in the browser test, each phone has to load up more content while scrolling through the same set of websites where it looks like the a14 bionic chip was more efficient in doing so, allowing the iPhone to make the comeback and take the lead once again. So a lot of going back and forth in this battery comparison we'll see if the iPhone can create some real separation for itself here on instagram, and now the pixel does better this time with both phones now tied at 62, which lines up perfectly for us to see how they compare in standby. Arguably one of the most important aspects of battery life where, after 16 hours, the pixel does better pulling two points ahead. But a two point lead isn't really all that big, so we'll see if we can improve on it here on youtube, where it does, the pixel increases its total lead to three points.

Now, as we move on to the gaming test, where the iPhone actually might be able to make a comeback, considering that it does have that 5 nanometer a14 bionic chip, while the pixel also has to power that faster 90, hertz, refresh rate display and after 1 hour, the iPhone does indeed do better. But the difference wasn't big enough for it to make a comeback with it. Only being able to cut down on the pixel's lead by one percentage point here in maps, we're simulating navigation with GPS turned on each phone, where one hour later, the two perform identically with each draining by 15 percentage points. Making this a close one as each phone falls under that 20 battery mark here in Spotify, we're simply listening to music on each phone with the speakers calibrated to the same decibel count where one hour into it. The pixel does significantly better with it falling down to eight percent, while the iPhone only has two percent remaining which, after just one and a half minutes into snap chats, runs out completely, while the pixel still has seven percent left to go now.

It is worth noting that Snapchat is way more intensive than any other test in this battery comparison. Meaning a minute in Snapchat is in no way equal to a minute in email or messaging, for example, but even then the pixel is able to last a full 26 minutes into it, bringing its total active time to 9 hours and 26 minutes compared to the iPhone's, still impressive 9 hours and one minute making the pixel 5 the winner in this battery test. We have a lot more iPhone.12 coverage coming to the channel soon so be sure to subscribe. If you don't want to miss out but anyways, that is it for me in this video. Thank you for watching and as always I'll see you in the very next episode.
