iPhone 12 Pro Max VS iPhone 12 Camera Comparison - Did Apple LIE to us?

Hey what's happening everyone, my name is Alex and welcome back. So, according to apple, the main camera on the back of the iPhone 12 Pro max is better than the main cameras that we get on the iPhone 12, the 12 pro and, of course, the 12 mini. So in today's camera comparison we are going to find out if that's true or not, and how much better that camera is compared to the other iPhone. So if it makes sense to actually spend the extra money and buy the 12 pro max compared to the other ones. So because only the main camera is different, I'm mostly going to show you pictures that I take with the main camera and, of course, videos that I'm going to take with the main camera, because the ultra-wide lens should be the same on all four iPhones this year and with that being said, want to start by checking out some sample videos from the main cameras. So we can figure out if it's better or not, oh, and just before, we start don't forget to press that like button alright.

So for our first test, I'm using the main lens and recording in 4k at 30 frames per second, it's almost sunny out, but um overall, we don't get the blue skies today and um sunshine. So, as you can probably see for yourself, I am walking fairly slow, but I'm also going to start running in a bit. I'm just going to stop here for a bit we'll pan right towards this spark and back left, and now we're going to start running. So you can see how that image stabilization looks like because the iPhone 12 Pro max should do better for image. Stabilization, of course, we'll have to see how this footage actually looks.

Um on the computer, so yeah. This is how um recording done with the main lens on the back of the iPhone 12 and the 12 pro max would look like under these conditions, all right we are moving on to our next recording between the iPhone 12 and the 12 pro max for this recording once again, I'm using the main lenses on the back of the two devices, but now I'm recording in 4k at 60 frames per second. I wanted to see how the image stabilization would actually work on, while recording 4k at 60 frames per second, it's also pretty windy, so you're going to hear a lot of wind, so we'll go running for a bit with the wind of course, and we're gonna start somewhere around here. We're gonna pan left slowly and back right, so yeah. This is our 4k at 60 frames per second recording between the iPhone 12 and the 12 pro max would look like all right, we're moving on to another quick recording between the iPhone 12 and the 12 pro max.

Once again, it is pretty windy, I'm using the main lens and recording in 4k at 30 frames per second we're, basically looking to see which device has better dynamic range, which one has better um, stabilization and so on. So I'm going to stop here and turn around, so the wear is coming from and honestly looking at the screens on both devices, I can't really tell any difference. Maybe this will be a bit different when I see the footage on a bigger screen at home on the computer, so yeah 4k at 30 frames per second, with a main lens on the iPhone 12 and 12 pro max and moving on to one of our last daytime recordings between the iPhone 12 and the 12 pro max and once again, I'm using the main lens and recording in 4k at 60 frames per second we're gonna head um closer to that water, as you can probably see for yourself, I am walking fairly slow, so stop here, and I'm gonna pan up and ride slowly, and we'll keep going, and I guess I can also run a bit. So you can see how the image stabilization looks while running uh recording 4k at 60 frames per second, so yeah main lens, iPhone, 12 and 12 pro max all right. So after looking at those daytime recordings, I personally don't see any improvements on the iPhone 12 Pro max compared to the iPhone 12.

Is it just me or the videos are kind of the same? I've actually noticed that the iPhone 12 was doing a bit better for image stabilization while running just a bit better. Mostly when you start running. Maybe you've noticed that as well, but really I was expecting way more from the iPhone 12 Pro max alright. So next we're going to move on and check out some nighttime recordings that I've done and once again, you're, not gonna notice, any difference between the 12 pro max and the 12. Maybe in one of those videos, the recordings from the 12 pro max have a bit less noise, just maybe I'm not sure if you're actually gonna notice, um that so, let's check out those some nighttime recordings, and then I'll come back um.

So you can talk about the pictures that you're about to see afterwards, all right, we have a quick video recording between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro max in low light for this recording I'm using the main lenses on the back of the two devices and recording in 4k at 30 frames per. Second, I wanted to see if the iPhone 12 Pro max does better in low light, since we have a different main camera, but from what I'm seeing on the screens here, not that much so walk this way for a bit. It gets a bit darker around here. I'm also walking fairly slow, as you can see, and it is a bit windy, and you may also hear of some traffic, so we'll walk straight, and I'm going to stop here, and we'll pan left slowly, and then I'll continue going this way so yeah. This is how recording in 4k 30 frames per second with the main lens on the iPhone 12 and the 12 pro max would look like we are moving on to another quick recording between the iPhone 12 and the iPhone 12 Pro max for this recording I'm doing 4k at 60 frames per second, and once again, I'm using the main lens.

That's the lens that we want to see if it's actually better on the 12 pro max than it is on the 12th. So I'm just going to walk towards this building. Here, honestly, everything looks identical on the screen, so I don't think the lens on the 12 pro max is any better. Everything looks identical, so yeah 4k at 60 frames per second between the iPhone 12 and the 12 pro max, and I have one last recording in low light in a super dark place, so I'm using the main lens once again on the iPhone 12 and the 12 pro max and recording in 4k 30 frames per second. So honestly, I was expecting to see a difference on the screens here, but there is literally no difference.

I cannot see anything uh on the screen of either iPhone. So yes, Apple did say that they have a bigger sensor that can catch more light, but I don't actually see any difference unless there will be a difference when I upload this footage on the computer, so yeah iPhone 12 and the iPhone plus pro max main lens uh recording in 4k at 30 frames per second. So did you guys notice any differences for those nighttime recordings? Personally, I watched all the recordings on a 27 inch.5K display- and I cannot tell the difference- is except for one recording where um the recordings from the 12 pro max do seem to have a bit less noise, but other than that they do look pretty similar. So since I couldn't actually find any differences for videos, of course, I took a bunch of daytime pictures and what you're seeing on the screen now are some portrait mode pictures here. Once again, I thought that we'll get better edge detection from the 12 pro max compared to the 12, but now the edge detection seems to be fairly similar for both devices.

So once again, no difference, and I'm looking at all the other pictures so pictures which I just took randomly once again, there is no difference. The same dynamic range, the same colors, the same sharpness. Everything seems to be the same so yeah. I really had high hopes for um the iPhone 12 Pro max, mostly from that um presentation. That apple did what it said.

It can capture um, 47, more light, etcetera, etcetera, but for um daytime pictures and all those some recordings that you've seen no differences. So next I think we're going to move on and check out some nighttime pictures, so I thought that maybe we will see some differences for those nighttime pictures. I actually zoomed in on a bunch of those pictures to see if I'm missing something, but no, I cannot see any differences. They are the same on the form the pictures taken by the 12 pro max and the iPhone 12. I even took a picture in complete darkness.

I couldn't actually see anything in there and yes, the pictures do look the same once again, so I have to say that I am a bit disappointed by the iPhone 12 Pro max. I actually thought this would make a big difference compared to the 12 to 12 pro and the 12 mini, but apparently there is no difference. So, even if that camera is indeed 47 percent larger, it doesn't actually do anything. Maybe once again, they're going to send some software updates in the future, and they will make it better. But as of now I'm going to say there is absolutely no difference between the 12 pro max the 12, the 12 pro and the 12 mini.

What do you guys think definitely leave a comment, and let me know alright guys, don't forget to press that like button, it's going to help this video? Quite a lot don't forget to subscribe. If you did like the video- and I will see you guys in the next one.
