Lenovo Chromebook Duet Follow Up After One Month By Will's Gadgets and More

What's up guys, this is will of wheel, h, tech review back with another video, and today we're doing a follow-up video on the Lenovo Chromebook duet. So I picked this up maybe three to four weeks ago, and I have been enjoying this device after picking it up. I waited a long time for this device. I tried to pick it up. It was in heavy demand when it first came out, so I was finally able to catch it at Best Buy and I bought an open box unit in mint condition like new condition, and it was. It was just that when I got it out of the box, so I was pretty excited about it.

I'm still excited about it. It's been uh pretty good. So far I bought it for 260 dollars, plus tax. I think came out to 290 or something like that, but you can buy these brand new 299 dollars now, there's supposed to be two versions of it. I have the 128 gigabytes of storage, four gigabytes of ram version, but there's also supposed to be a 64 gigabyte version as well.

Furthermore, I haven't seen that one in stores anywhere, but they're supposed to be so this also comes with a fantastic cover for the back and a keyboard right here and, as you can see, the cover is made out of some type of uh. Has the cloth looking or fabric looking uh back on it here, and it makes it look for a very nice looking device and all together, I think the weight with the cover and the keyboard is around two pounds. So, let's get into this first, I want to talk about the build on this, so I'm going to go ahead and separate the back piece and the keyboard, and I will talk about the keyboard and the back piece in a little. But first, let's talk about the uh, build and uh some specs on this thing here as well. So as you can see there on the bottom of, you got your slot for your Pogo pins this side here, there's an anything this side, you got your two stereo speakers.

You got your two microphones here and down here at the bottom. You got your uh volume up and down. Furthermore, you have your power button, which is textured. Furthermore, you have a microphone here, and you have type c charging port, which you can also use. This run this to an external monitor.

You can hook up. SSDs thumb drives all the above for this porch, so it's very versatile and then on the back of it. You got a little Lenovo brand in here chrome down here. You do have this two-tone color that I kind of like some people, don't like it, but I like it, you have a camera on the back, which is eight megapixels and then on the front. Furthermore, you got your two, your two megapixel camera there, and you got a 10 point.

One inch display that's 1920 by 1200, gets up to about 400 nits, so the display is pretty bright and uh we'll get into more about the display in a little. So that is the build quality on. It does feel like it's the build on. It seems like it's a high quality device, in my opinion, just about as well-built as my Samsung's or my iPad, 7th gen. Just a very nice solid feeling doesn't have any creaks gives and just solid looking for the price of 299 dollars.

I think you get a very well-built device here, so, okay guys. So next, let's talk about the keyboard in the back cover here. So this has a felt type feel to it very nice uh, it's magnetized to the back of the keyboard, as you guys can see, it has like a fabric look here, and you also have a very nice little kickstand that you can angle and various angles. It's very sturdy. I should say this is plastic, but it doesn't feel like it's going to break the hand, feels very good on it and the way you apply this is you just kind of line it up with the back of the tablet.

Camera hole there and that's how it goes so, just like that now, when you have this on there, you can see. All of your edges are exposed. Uh like that. So let's take a look at the keyboard now, so here's the keyboard uh, it's very small, as you can see one of my hands there. It's just about taking up the whole keyboard there, but you do have shortcut rows up here to get to various things you have to escape forward: reverse forward uh, just your different volume, uh stream brightness.

You can lock the keyboard and overall, it's not backlit uh, but overall, it's after you get used to it. It's a very nice keyboard. You do have a trackpad, that's pretty responsive! Now you got to remember all this is uh coming for 200 299 dollars do have a little of Lenovo brand in here. This is where you connect your Pogo pins right there and then here's the back side of it as you can see, doesn't get dirty. I've used it for the last month, almost a month and uh, pretty good for the price of this keyboard and Chromebook all together.

There's nothing really to complain about as far as the keyboard. The whole total package, like I mentioned earlier, weighs about two pounds, so it does have it as when you have the keyboard and the back cover on it. It does add some weight to the tablet, but, as you can see, all of your edges are exposed there, and it doesn't stay together. If you think it's going to stay together, it's not, so that's it. So let me open it up.

Let you guys see this, so I can raise it up different levels and stuff like that, so that is the keyboard uh and the tab. Okay guys. So next, let's talk about the display on here. I kind of briefly mentioned it earlier. So this is a 10.1 IPS display 1920 by 1200, and it gets up to 400 nits. The display is colorful bright and has some great colors, as you can see, almost fills up the entire screen here.

You do have a little of bezel here, but the touch responsiveness on this is great. I haven't had any issues with it, responding to touch and uh. You know just a great looking display on here now. One thing I forgot to mention earlier when you disconnect this from the keyboard. It goes into tablet mode.

So when you're in the tablet mode, you're going to have to use the display, you know touch display more than when you have it connected to the keyboard here. So as you see it, pops right back into Chromebook mode right there. So display is awesome on here. So next, let's talk about something that I think is probably one of the weakest things or one of my cons about this and that's the dual speakers. So the speakers on here uh they sound, okay, but they're, not gonna, be as good as something like on my iPad 7th gen.

It has dual speakers as well, but I'll pull up a little something here just to let you guys see how it sounds now I did do a comparison. Video between this tablet Chromebook and the iPad 7th gen, uh speaker comparison and the iPad was just so much better sounding than this one. So I'll pull up a little song here of selection and let you guys hear how it sounds so this is max volume. So it's very tinny, but if you're like me, the only person in the room right now, this will be good enough for your Netflix, your YouTube or whatever movies you want to watch speakers are facing up, so that kind of gives it a little more. But not these are, probably.

These are not the best speakers. I've heard on a tablet and I've. I've got a lot of tablets, so uh there's no 3.5 millimeter headphone jack either, but they did include a dongle in the packaging that I forgot to mention that you can use to plug in your headphones if you need to, so that is the speakers on it. So next, let's talk about the battery on this battery life, is, you know really subjective is how you use your device. For me, battery life has been great uh having I don't use it continuously, to give you like a six or seven-hour battery life thing like that, because I have other tablets uh the most.

I use this tablet at a time, maybe two to three hours and the battery life is great on this. It has a 7, 000, William battery and uh. I can go days in between use using it. So if I sit there and watch videos after videos and movies after movies, then I could probably get a truer idea of how the battery life is. But I'll be honest with you.

I don't use it like that. So, okay, guys. So let's next talk about performance on this. So this has the MediaTek hello p60t uh, CPU, four gigabytes of ram 128 gigabytes of storage. This thing performs pretty well, I don't have any issues with it.

Opening up apps everything seems to open up pretty fast. The four gigabytes of ram holds things in memory pretty well uh. I can have different screens going on this device. No issues with anything like that. Occasionally I'll have a stutter between the keyboard not responding and simply enough I'll, take it loose, reconnect it, and then it works, but other than that it performs well.

You can take and have uh do split streams here like so, and you can go about your business doing what you need to social media, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, whatever social media you need to run on here, it's going to run great. You can have tons of tabs open, so you guys can see that I'm opening here, and it's going to perform. Well, it's not! It doesn't really bog down, like I said, I've had instance where the keyboard gets a little uh out of whack with the uh, the rest of the device, but other than that. As you can see, it's opening up well page as well. Apps run well on it and the processor is pretty good for what it is.

It's an it's not you know it's the MediaTek processor, but it seems very well now. I don't play games a lot on, I'm not a gamer per se, but the few games that I do play on here. They perform well, they open up. Well, you can also hook up uh. You can also hook you up a wireless controller, or you can plug right into your type c, and you can play games like that.

I do have the new. I think it is uh game simulator or whatever it's called, and I hook that up from time to time I like to play little uh old school games like uh Pac-Man, but you do have Mario and games like that. Uh do play like the boxing or the baseball type games on there and overall, like I said it performs well uh you're not going to be doing any uh video editing or photo editing, or anything like that. Now, if you want to use this for watching uh for reading your books- or you know watching uh reading, like your favorite books or whatever, this is perfect size and the little of bezel that it has here makes for a great size to turn your pages and the display being as nice as it is make for good colors on it as well. So overall, this has been a great tablet for me for the price of it 300, and you get your keyboard and your back cover for it.

So some weak parts, the cameras- are very they're, not very good at all, but I guess you could use it for your Zoom calls Skype calls or whatever uh the front camera being only two megapixels. It may work for that. Just good enough. If you like a bigger tablet, then this is going to be uh 10.1, so it's not real big, but overall, it's a nice size just to hold in one hand like I said overall, I really like the tablet, especially for the price. So all right guys.
