iPhone 12 Pro Max vs Galaxy Note 20 Ultra: The Truth after 2 Months!

Hey, what's up guys, it's Darius, and I just made a video on the best small phones. Now it's time to have a look at the big boys, the best of the best iPhone 12 Pro max and Galaxy Note 20 ultra the iPhone has been out for almost two months now, and I've had the Galaxy Note 20 ultra ever since its release back in August, and in this video I'll tell you which of the two is right for you. No two devices scream premium high end and simply expensive as the iPhone 12 Pro max and the Galaxy Note 20 ultra. They look and feel very luxurious. Both have a glass back with glossy stainless steel sides. The note is a little lighter and thinner and the curved sides on both the front and back make it feel more delicate, especially compared to the very solid angular build of the iPhone in terms of durability.

Both are quite good, though I haven't really put it to the test, but in regular usage. The note has gotten a few scratches, as it's also been in use for longer, but both should definitely hold up well they're made from high-end materials, with very tough gorilla glass on both back and front, which supposedly is quite drop resistant, but then, in turn, is more prone to scratching. Tests have shown that especially apple's new ceramic shield is very good at protecting against drops both also have an ip68 watch and dust resistance, but the iPhone can be submerged in deeper water now. Both are, of course, very big smartphones. For me, none of the two are one-handed devices.

I doubt in anybody really in the hand. I'd say the note is a little more comfortable, it's taller, but slimmer and the curved edges fit my hand more ergonomically, although they also make it a little more slippery. Both also attract a lot of smudges, but it's worse on the note I found myself wiping it all the time now, with a big smartphone comes a big display, 6.7 versus 6.9 inches, to be exact. Both are beautiful and high. Resolution note, however, looks more modern, with a higher screen to body ratio with minimal bezels and only a tiny hole punch cutout for the selfie camera.

Next to it, the iPhone looks a little dated with that massive notch. I do really appreciate the flat display, though the notch does serve a purpose. It houses face ID which works really well a lot better in low light and is much more secure compared to face unlock on the Samsung, which only relies on the front-facing camera, although in the age of face, masks the in-display fingerprint scanner on the note 20 ultra is so much more convenient, it's not particularly fast, nor super accurate, but it's infinitely faster than typing in your pin code. All the time. A quick note on speakers both have excellent sounding stereo speakers, which get very loud and sound rich.

It was really hard to say which of the two sounds better. The iPhone maybe sounds a little fuller and has a little more bass, but both are excellent back to the displays you have an OLED on the iPhone and an AMOLED. On the note, the two support HDR and get insanely bright, like I said both are amazing, but the note definitely takes the win here, because it has a high refresh rate display. It dynamically runs at up to 120 hertz compared to the fixed 60 hertz on the iPhone, and it feels so much more fluent once you've tried it, there's no going back in terms of performance, both have the latest and greatest chips and while both definitely perform well, the iPhone's a14 bionic chip is way ahead of the competition benchmarks, show it's roughly 60 more powerful than the international version of the note, because that only comes with the 20 inferior Enos chip compared to the more powerful snapdragon model which you can get in the US and some other countries. Unfortunately, they still cost the same amount of money, which really should not be the case.

You do get double the storage though, but I don't think that makes up for it. Also, I found both, but more so the note to get warm under load. The note does have double the ram and if you really look for it, you can notice it plus it has expandable storage, so you don't have to opt for the crazy, expensive storage upgrades from Samsung or apple. Oh- and I forgot to mention both, of course, also support.5G. The note even has dual sim support in day-to-day tasks.

The note definitely feels more snappy because of the high refresh rate and that's why the iPhone, despite having the fastest mobile chip out there, does not feel like the fastest smartphone. So what's the point in even having the fastest mobile chip well in very, very intense apps and in the future it will perform better for when phones tend to slow down, it will last a little longer and won't slow down as quickly also apple provides five years of software updates, while Samsung only three so far, both have gotten quite a few updates, and I was especially impressed with the timely updates on the Samsung. In fact, let's talk about the software. It's iOS 14 on the iPhone versus one UI. On the note, it's still based on android 10, but android 11 is just around the corner.

Overall, its personal preference both have their strengths and weaknesses. Generally, I like both iOS, is a little more polished with more apps, which often tend to work better and, of course, you get apple's amazing ecosystem with features like airdrop and iMessage. One UI is also quite clean. I prefer its customization features, and it comes with an always-on display, which is nice, there's even wireless decks, which enables you to use your note sort of as a desktop PC. The note definitely makes much better use of the big display.

There's split screen and many multitasking features not to mention the s pen. It comes with a bunch of unique features like being able to create gives from videos using it as a camera, remote or simply signing a document or doodling around. To be honest, I don't use it that often, but it's very useful when I do the iPhone 12 max, on the other hand, is simply a larger iPhone, 12 mini with no special software, any features to make use of that bigger display. Let me quickly tell you about this great software by this video sponsor wonder share. The transition between the two operating systems is actually quite smooth, but unfortunately you lose all of your WhatsApp chats and data, but with Dr phone you can seamlessly transfer all of that data from an android to an iPhone or from an iPhone to an android with just one click.

Dr phone is available for both windows and macOS. It lets you back up view, export and restore your social apps chat, data and media. That way, all of your data will be safe. If you're quick, you can get up to 85 off, using the link in the description below, and thanks again to wonder share for sponsoring this video one of the things you pay for the most with these premium. Smartphones is the cameras you can get a fairly similar smartphone for a lot less money, but it will always have an inferior camera on these.

Both camera elements are massive and stick out quite a bit. That also means they do rock on a flat surface. Personally, I think it looks more intentional on the iPhone, while, on the note it sort of looks like it was just slapped on the back. Both have a triple camera setup, including an ultrawide, a regular wide and a zoom Samsung chose the crazy, throw everything added option with a 108 megapixel main sensor, and a 5x telephoto periscope zoom lens apple, on the other hand, went with a more conservative solution, featuring only 12 megapixel sensors and a two and a half x, telephoto lens. It does have a new, lighter sensor for better depth detection, though on paper the note clearly wins, but in actual use it's a lot closer than the specs might suggest in good lighting.

They both perform incredibly they're, both very sharp, with vivid colors and great dynamic range. I would say the note has a little more detail, though, and there's also more natural both. The iPhone, unfortunately has some issues with lens flares and green dots, which is not great and, I hope is fixed with a softer update if possible in terms of zoom. The note definitely has the edge. Anything above 5x is much clearer on the note, while anything below 5x is better on the iPhone.

For the most part, I'd say the iPhone setup is more useful because I don't tend to zoom it that much. But when I do, I'm always in awe about the pictures the note can produce in lower light situations, the iPhone does better. It now has deep fusion and the night mode on all of its cameras and a new sensor shift technology which stabilizes the sensor itself. Overall, that results in brighter images with less noise. In tougher light situations in terms of video, they both perform excellently up to 4k 60 in doubly vision on the iPhone or 8k.

On the note, it's really hard to pick a clear winner, but both are perfect. Overall, both have incredible cameras, one of the best on the market and the differences are only noticeable once you put them side by side. The iPhone did get support for pro raw recently, which gets you some more editing capabilities and, if you into AR it will perform much better thanks to the lighter scanner but really like, I said both have incredible cameras, just pick your poison. Lastly, let's talk about battery life. The note has quite a significantly bigger battery, but the iPhone is more optimized and therefore lasts longer, even if you disable hertz, the iPhone still beats the note to add insult to injury, the global model of the note again, the one I have has roughly 15 percent worse battery life than the better performing snapdragon model.

It does get me through a day, but the iPhone is more of a one and a half day. Phone in terms of charging both are actually quite similar. Both have fast charging, but surprisingly, not particularly fast charging, 20 watts on the iPhone versus 25. On the note, the main difference is that the charger is actually included on the node and the iPhone does not come with a charging rig at all, which I find unacceptable at this price. Both also support wireless charging, the iPhone even apple's new magnetic wireless charging, MagSafe, which is quite nice, but it's nothing groundbreaking and quite expensive.

Now one benefit the Samsung has is reversed wireless charging. It is a little gamin key, but I've used it from time to time, and then it can be quite useful. It basically enables you to charge anything with support for wireless charging. Using the note, I mainly use it to charge up my headphones, although it is quite slow, reverse max, safe charging would be awesome. Let me quickly talk about the price.

It's no secret, that these are one of the most expensive smartphones you can get back when it launched. The note was actually more expensive than the iPhone, but now a few months later, you can actually get it for a couple of hundred bucks off already in Europe. You can currently get it for around a thousand bucks, if not even less the iPhone will run you 1200 bucks and the price will probably be more stable in the future. It's hard to pick a clear winner. Both are amazing smartphones, the best of the best, the iPhone has a better low light camera, a faster processor and better battery life.

Also, will last you longer thanks to the 5 years of software updates, but it's more expensive, and you miss out on the high refresh rate display. On the other hand, the note looks and feels a lot more modern has a more versatile camera and with the s pen and the multitasking features, it feels a lot more of a productivity machine, while the iPhone 12 Pro max is just a big iPhone. The fact that you're getting an inferior model, if you happen to live outside a few select countries, is ridiculous and should not be a thing anymore in the future, especially considering that you can get the snapdragon anywhere in the world on the galaxy s20 Fe, which costs significantly less oh and if you're ever getting a note, make sure you get the note 20 ultra, not the regular note, 20, that's really not a good deal in the end. It really just comes down to your preferences.
