Samsung Galaxy J6 Review | Samsung Bring Out The Budget Phones

So before we get into this full review of the Samsung Galaxy j6, let's just take a look at where it sits in the Samsung range, so we can get a bit of context. The j6 sits under the a6, which in turns 6 under the a8, which in turn sits under the s9, so that j6 is job here is to save you money over a more expensive a6 and to do that. Of course, it'll need to cut some corners, and it does, but before we get into that, let's take a look at this phone and what you're getting here first up is worth saying that straight out of the box. This is a good-looking phone, some tech journalists. Some reviewers have said that it looks dull and boring, but I think that's a bit unfair sure the phone doesn't scream. Look at me, but that's fine, I, think the j6 has a clean, respectable look in its polycarbonate skin.

The bezels around the screen are perfectly acceptable, and the screen is well excellent for the money. It's Samsung's punchy 5.6 inch, Super AMOLED display in a nice 18 point 5 by 9 aspect ratio. It isn't packing as many pixels as a flagship, but we're not worried about that. As it's such a beautiful and vibrant display, the viewing angles are superb ?, so you're not likely to have any trouble with your screen. In our opinion, what's your back? Content is enjoyable, and the mono speaker is pretty good, although our feel is better suited to voice calls on speakerphone and listening to talk radio than listening to music or movies.

There is an FM radio built-in -. It's loud enough, though there isn't much space. The battery life on a j6 is solid. Getting through a full day hasn't been a problem for us and that's thanks to the 3000 William hour battery, as well as the phone's lightweight chipset, the Enos 7870. It may be getting on a bit, but it certainly isn't power-hungry trading a bit powerful.

Longer-Lasting battery is all right with us. Given a price point here, and it's only under heavy use and multitasking that we noticed the phone really bogging down you're, getting three gigabytes of RAM and 32 gigabytes of storage. But don't forget, you can use a micros card for extra storage. If you need it for an extra 256 gigabytes so far, then the j6 is doing a very respectable job of keeping up with the a6. So what are the corners that have been cut? Well? For a start, the camera tech has taken a bit of a hit, and this is clear to see when compared with the a6.

The main camera on the back here is a 13 megapixel and a single lens, along with an LED flash you'll, get an F 1.9 lens, and there isn't any electric or optical stabilization here. So videos you take will be shaky unless you have a very steady hand. It's worth pointing out, though, that you do get autofocus. Looking at these images, you'll see that there's an overall lack of detail, which is especially true in low-light conditions in low-light. There's a lot of noise, and you can see the camera is really struggling here in bright conditions.

You'll get usable pictures, but you won't get the color reproduction or a detail of the a6. The j6. These images are a bit washed out by comparison on the front. We have an 8 megapixel, selfie camera, with an F 1.9 lens and an LED flash again. You lose a fair bit of detail and overall quality when compared to the more expensive a6.

If you're, all about taking great pictures and selfies it seriously worth considering the a6 or the a8. Another corner, that's been cut to keep price super low is a potential big one. If you use Google Maps to get around the J 6 is no gyroscope or digital compass, so you can't tell which direction you're facing on Google Maps. If you don't use this functionality, then you don't need to worry, but it's definitely worth being aware of. For me, though, the toughest submission to deal with in the J 6 is the lack of the ambient light sensor.

I found myself having to change the brightness manually, a fair bit to keep the brightness consistent throughout the day and evening now is doing this more in the beginning of my time, with the phone than in the last week or so, and that's because after a while, you learn to just live with the screen being brighter. Don't forget you're getting a micro, USB connector here, not the modern USB type-c, which is pretty much the norm nowadays. That won't bother you if you're coming from a phone with a micro USB, but it'll probably be a put off if you're used to using a phone with USB type-c, fortunately you're treated to a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack with a j6 which is handy to have some people are essential. I'm, certainly happy that Samsung does this. So all in all, then, if you're after a good, entry-level smartphone with a great screen and a decent build quality, the j6 is a great starting point: we'd recommend comparing it with the a6 to make sure you're getting exactly the phone you want.
