iPad Air 4 Vs M1 MacBook Air - Which One Should You Buy

Hi guys welcome to my channel where we talk about everything from tech to films and all the fun stuff in between. So can we have this discussion now, especially when the m1 MacBook Air shares the same DNA as the iPads. I especially want to compare it with the iPad Air 4, as the a14 processor has got this same kind of architecture with the m1 chip in the MacBook Air, but there will be similarities to the iPad Pro as well guys, so the points will hold true in both the cases so sit back, guys and relax. Let's try to answer that age-old question of whether you should buy an iPad or a laptop uh. I mean MacBook Air just before we proceed. Please do subscribe to the channel and show your support guys, and I will continue making fun and informative content for you, and this is the final call for the Amazon gift card, giveaway, guys 2 into 20 pound gift cards to any country that will allow me to send Amazon gift cards.

All you have to do is be subscribed to this channel and go and follow me on my Instagram account. So, let's get on with the video, but before we proceed, I thought that if you're interested in geek bench scores, then this is how they compare against each other, and so I thought about this long and hard and came to a conclusion that it would be perfect to break it down by the type of user. So we have the following number: one: casual user, two office workers, number three students, number four graphic designers, number, five gamers number, six programmers and finally number seven your grandparents. So let me give you my thoughts on each of these type of users, and then you can comment down below if you agree or disagree with me and if you want to add anything else, please feel free to do so once again guys. These are just my suggestions and my thoughts, and I would like to mention that there are always exceptions- and this is an open debate, so feel free to chip in feel free to correct me and feel free to add anything else which I missed down in the comment section below starting off with the casual user.

I think most of us will have that casual user in us. You know casual users who like to do tasks like surfing the web online shopping, watching movies, social media and maybe a bit of emails and the occasional printing for most of these tasks. The convenience of doing it from any place of your house is of utmost priority sitting at the desk, laying on your couch or on your bed. The MacBook Air is light and easy enough to carry this around, but in comparison with the iPad, you do feel that 1.29 kilos weight quite significantly. The iPad Air, on the other hand, provides that ease of used to use at any corner of your house in any angle and any orientation, and now, with the iPadOS trying to bridge the gap between a laptop and a tablet, you do not get cut on versions that hinder your experience.

Websites are full desktop versions and not the cut down mobile versions like how you used to get before, and there are specifically designed apps, making full use of the iPad extra screen real estate, providing you that complete experience and the ease with which you can connect a keyboard or add a stylus or even air print onto our printer takes all those additional boxes and when it comes to watching movies, I don't think any other device can top this in terms of viewing comfort it offers, and that extends your media library that is available. So casual users run and get yourself the new iPad Air, for it is pro level performance in the mid-tier product making that iPad Pro seem a bit unnecessary. At the moment. Next type of users is office. Workers number crunching, spreadsheets power, prime presentation proposals, all these types of work, which demands a complete package with keyboard, trackpad and mouse pointer support.

True that you can add all these accessories onto an iPad but having them built in natively and having that pin pointer mouse precision works wonders here. The iPad tries its best to extend support here by having apps optimized for touchscreen and adding mouse support and even a keyboard dock which adds trackpad support, but it still cannot beat the efficiency which a MacBook can offer for all the tasks and working with iPadOS for those tasks is a bit uncomfortable. So the MacBook Air here stands as the perfect choice and the new m1 MacBook Air will offer you enough power, flexibility and battery life to simply lap up anything you throw at it and then some. It really is the perfect device, and you do not need to spend any more than that.999 dollar price tag for that entry-level model similar to the iPad Air 4. The base level device is more than capable this time, unlike before, thanks to that super efficient m1 chip under the hood.

Next is an interesting group of users. Students, honestly guys here my head says: go for the MacBook Air, but my heart says: get the iPad Air for seriously for one reason, which is the ability to do this rough note. Taking wish, I had this kind of device when I was at uni really, you can add a keyboard if needed, but taking notes, jotting down stuff and never running out of paper and even taking picture of the lecture or your blackboard and making your own comment. The iPad Air clearly wins here. If you are a computer science student, then guys you still need a MacBook Air.

We will deal with that user type in the programmers section further into this video, but for most other majors you can really work wonders using the iPad Air 4. The ease of use, ease of carrying it around and a wealth of e-books simply adds all that value and really is a better choice. Next up is graphic designers. People who live and work around the adobe suite of apps or the life stuff see adobe stuff is quite heavy. Actually, based on my personal experience, we had to get our designers mac books as windows wasn't handling animated gives, which had to be super smooth.

Now the touchscreen control of using the Apple Pencil to enhance your photos is brilliant, but the extra power of the MacBook Air and running full desktop class version of adobe suite does provide added advantage here guys. I know most pro level users already know what device to use so guys. My discussion is aimed at beginners and students and all you pro level guys you could comment down and let me know if I did miss anything next is gamers. The clear path here is to branch these users into two groups: casual gamers and hardcore gamers. If you're a casual, gamer, someone who would love to just sit back whenever possible and have a go at a few rounds of temple, run or angry birds or even Candy Crush saga, then the iPad is for you.

The iPad sure does bring some console level games onto it, and you can even hook up wireless controllers to play them, but again proper games like tomb, raider or something like uncharted or last of us. I don't think they will be making their way to iOS anytime soon. I know you can play PUBG or Call of Duty mobile on the iPad, but I got taken down mercilessly within few seconds as it is hard to play with the touchscreen, especially for me guys and those games do not support wireless controllers for some reason. Coming to hardcore gamers, you get some amazing choices here. Guy games like tomb, raider, batman, total war, the MacBook Air can seriously handle all of those and even allows you to connect external controllers to help with your gameplay.

The catalog is a bit shy at the moment, but considering the popularity of m1 chip based max, there's sure bound to be many more interesting games in the future. Next is programmers, a group whom I closely identify with see. I really love the iPad but being able to run MySQL server or vamp server or write and test code or simply inspect web elements in chrome to test style changes. This is where we live at and sadly the iPad is not there yet so for all you, computer programmer students, MacBook Air, is the way to go, and finally, the sweetest group of users, your grandparents and possibly your parents, I'll, have to mention my personal experience here guys. I came into contact with that retired couple recently, and they wanted me to fix their old windows laptop.

It was almost on its last legs, but I managed to fix it and the gentleman who is off my granddad's age asked me if I could recommend a computer or a tablet. Now the main usage for them is checking emails. Printing video calls, as they are part of a charity group and then the usual video chat with their family watching movies and browsing the internet. The local PC world store advisor, told him to get an android tablet. It's less expensive comparatively, but the ease of use is at most crucial here guys, so I help them buy the iPad Air set it up along with a cheap, 40 pound wireless printer and told them to use it carefully for 14 days as it can be returned.

If they didn't like it, I checked with them a week later and they both loved it so much that they didn't turn on their laptop, even once being able to read news, why Apple news app in his back garden, sipping tea was the thing which he loved the most, and he said that he wouldn't trade that for anything else, all this was last year, guys so before the lockdown and yes, it was the iPad Air 3, which I helped them buy. So you see ease of use years of software support and an excellent app ecosystem are the utmost, important things to consider when you're buying for your parents or grandparents. I know android tablets offer more value for money, but the iPad still rules when it comes to ease of use years worth of software updates and the app ecosystem, like no other, so do consider that when you decide to buy it for your folks guys, so there you go guys. I think I covered most of the user types. If I didn't miss anything, please do comment down below and let me know coming to my decision.

If you ask me, I would always recommend buying both the devices if possible, you can get all the flexibility and portability of the iPad Air 4 and then with the m1 MacBook Air. You get an amazing all-rounder powerhouse, but if I had to pick one, then it will be the m1 MacBook Air see, even with all the updates and features of iPadOS. The iPad Air still cannot compete with the MacBook in terms of the power and the desktop class operating system which will suit for all your computing needs. Yes guys. I said it I'm going to sacrifice my all-time: favorite iPad for the m1 MacBook Air, so that's it for the video guys thanks a lot for watching and if you like, my video, please hit that like button and also do subscribe.

If you liked it. Furthermore, to help my channel grow, the Amazon gift card giveaway details are down in the description box below, and I will be picking two winners this weekend and will post it in my next video. So that's all for the video guys thanks a lot for staying with me until the end. I will see you in my next video bye for now.
