So you won't miss any upcoming videos. Alright, so we're going to go ahead and unbox this 7th generation, iPad and I just want to take a second to apologize for the quality of my voice. Right now, I am battling a severe cold or something I don't know, but it's obviously affected my voice a little. So thank you for bearing with me now here is that 7 generation iPad let's go ahead and get it on box, we'll just cut through the wrapper like this pull off the wrapper, then flip it over and pull the rest of the wrapper off there.

We go alright, so let's lift the top off the 7th generation iPad and see. What's inside there we go I mean nothing overly surprising for those of you familiar with the iPad unboxing experience. Let's go ahead and lift it out and let's see what's underneath there we go, we have to design by Apple in California package as expected, we'll get to that in just a second. We also have a 12 watt power adapter. So just a typical 12 watt power adapter, it is USB.

A connection here is the lightning to USB a cable that comes with the iPad 7. So let's pull our getting started. Information out. You have here to start a guide which explains some PC concepts of the iPad and on the back it gives you some details about the smart connector, which is brand new for the entry-level iPad. You also have regulatory information in, of course, Apple stickers.

Alright, so let's go ahead and get this thing unwrapped, just pull the wrapper off like that. Didn't slide. The iPad 7 out of the package- and there we go here- is the seventh generation iPad in space gray, there's also a silver and a gold option as well. So the unboxing is complete. Let's talk about the iPad 7 top features.

Price is undoubtedly the most compelling thing about the 7 generation iPad. It starts at $329. You can often find it for cheaper than that on sell, and that makes it by far the most bang for your buck value that you'll get out of the entire iPad lineup. So here's what we give for the iPad 7, of course, 10.2 inch display you get smart connector for the first time with smart keyboard support and the base model comes with it very usable, 32, gigabytes of storage. If you're looking to buy an iPad for someone who is not a power user, this is the iPad to buy, and one of the things that makes this new iPad so compelling is the new 10.2 inch display, which is obviously larger than the previous nine point. Seven inch display to me, I think it's a very nice form factor, it's not so large that it becomes unwieldy.

Yet it's large enough that to where it doesn't feel cramped like the 9.7 inch version, was starting to fill. It's a perfect screen size. Now, of course, the seventh generation iPad is not the first entry-level iPad to adopt Apple Pencil support. However, it is still one of the best ways to interface with the iPad. I still think.

It's a top feature. I still think it's one of the reasons why someone would want to consider this entry-level iPad because it brings about cheap Apple, pencil support and the pencil is great. It's mature a lot of apps support it. You can use it for drawing. You can also use it for annotation, which is handy for students.

Now. What is new to the entry-level iPad lineup is the presence of this right here. The smart connector first appearing on the iPad Pro way back in the the smart connector. Finally migrates over to the entry-level iPad and that's going to bring about support. You guessed it for the smart keyboard and this keyboard.

Interestingly enough works with both the iPad 7 and the iPad Air, because they share the same form factor. So you just use the little pin contacts you can move them together and the magnets take care of the rest. So now you just unfold the smart Keyboard use a little origami style design to put it in a place and there we go we're ready to type ready to edit and correct any typos that I've made, and it's actually a pretty decent typing experience. You can totally use this in lieu of a laptop, and the great thing about this keyboard is that it uses the smart connector for power for pairing, so you just connect it, and you're ready to go. There is no Bluetooth or anything like that, and third parties can lend their support.

For example, this rugged folio from Logitech it 2 uses the smart connector stay tuned for full review now what's face. I'd of course, touch. I'd is sort of been placed on the back burner so to speak, but there are still new devices. Apple is making that supports. Touch ID case in point here.

This iPad 7 and touch ID works great. It allows you to quickly authenticate unlock your iPad quickly, authenticate with apps that support touch ID. It takes a little more work than face ID, where you just look at your device, and it unlocks, but touch ID is still pretty awesome and one of the best things about any iPad experiences: iPadOS 13. For instance. Now you get a redesigned home screen on iPad, OS 13.

You also get the ability to invoke the dark mode. So if you're working in a dimly lit environment, that's gonna really help you a lot and of course, it's just as easy to switch back over to light mode. So we'll do that right now, but that's not all iPadOS 13 is just filled to the brim with new features such as the ability to enable a floating keyboard for easier one-hand typing. That is such a cool feature, and now you can open up two windows from the same application and display them side by side. Here's pages editing two documents at once, but that's not all.

There are just tons of new iPadOS 13 features, especially multitasking features, so I highly recommend that you watch our top iPadOS 13 features video. He goes in-depth, especially with multitasking, along with all the other, really valuable updates for iPad users. Now the iPad 7 is relatively thin and light it's easy to carry around it weighs just over a pound, but it's not as thin and not as light as the iPad Air 3, and it's not as thin and light as the iPad Pro. So, in other words, it is very portable, but it doesn't feature class-leading portability. Another solid, iPad 7 characteristics is its inclusion of the 8 infusion CPU, and while this chip is still very competent today, it first appeared in the iPhone 7.

So that kind of tells you how long ago that was so. You could see how the 18 compares to the 12 in the iPad Pro, and it's significantly weaker than recent a-series chips from Apple, especially when it comes to apps that can take advantage of multiple cores. That all being said, your average game or your average application should function relatively well with the 8 infusion. It's really when you start working with more demanding apps, that you notice a difference, and although I love, Apple pencils, support I'm, not a huge fan of the first gen Apple Pencil for a couple of reasons: number one it pairs in charges like this, which is still to this day a ridiculous design. If much prefer the second-generation Apple Pencil, because you can easily pair it and charge it simply by attaching it to the top of your iPad, and it sticks there via magnets.

So it's great for storage. Alright! So let's talk about the two things that I absolutely dislike about the iPad 7 number one. You don't get a laminated display. So that means that the content feels like it looks like it's beneath the surface. It doesn't feel like the icons and all the assets are sitting on top of the screen.

It feels like they're beneath because you can see the depth there because of the lack of that laminated digitizer, like you see, on the higher-end iPads, and this also has a pretty profound negative effect on glare as well and speaking of glare. There is no anti-glare coating on the iPad 7 now this isn't a big problem if you're looking at the iPad straight on and there's not a lot of ambient light, but as soon as there's a lot of ambient light. If you look at the iPad from an angle, that's when you really start to notice the amount of glare that this thing has and that can really affect usability as well. Here's the iPad Pro on the left in the iPad 7 on the right notice, the difference in reflection significantly more on the iPad 7. So, ladies and gentlemen, that has been a look at the top features for the entry-level $329 iPad 7.

I think this is a great device even better. If you can find it on sale, cheaper than 329 bucks, it isn't the fastest iPad, it's not the thinnest iPad, but it gives you Apple Pencil support and smart keyboard support in a very competent package with iPadOS 13. It's a no-brainer if you're looking to get an iPad for the first time, or you're buying one for someone who doesn't need the bleeding-edge hardware be sure to LIKE and subscribe.
