WHAT WAS GOOGLE THINKING?! Google Pixel 4 XL Unboxing & Review

Oh man, I'm sure people are going to hate me for this one today, as somebody that's getting into reviews, I need to branch out of just one little area right. So that's why I took it upon myself to talk about the salt for Excel today, a little small unboxing diving into the phone in my first thoughts Google. What were you thinking? Releasing this at this cost I'm slightly tilted a little triggered. I! Guess, let's talk about it today. What's up everybody, it's biggie! First from us! Thank you for stopping by today's video to appreciate you checking this one out. Welcome to another tech, Tuesday, our first tech Tuesday in the new office space I know that we've actually already done some kind of unboxing and review in here.

But, like you know, it's tech Tuesday, who doesn't like tech Tuesday today is just gonna, be a simple unboxing and first like thoughts. Conclusion review of this I do want to give the pixel a chance, so I will give it a more long-term review in the up and coming months, but to be fairly honest. I just switched to AT&T and I had an insane deal on this device getting a new line. You get those new promotions, so I figured hey. Why not? You know, go ahead and try out this pixel phone that some people are talking about.

Don't know why I did that and who knows? Maybe it'll grow on me? Maybe it won't if you can tell by the tone of my voice today, I'm already not too thrilled with the device. I do want to point out that the unboxing portion of this video was previously recorded. So I've had some time with this phone, not enough, but I've had some time with it. The biggest comparison that I can make between the two is the Samsung Galaxy s.10 plus I've been using this guy for about a year now and when you look at specs they're honestly pretty similar like respectfully. This is probably the most comparable devices.

I mean there are a lot of other devices that compare more to the Google Pixel 4, but as a flagship advertised phone with the Pixel 4 XL 64 go by unlocked at $800 in this Samsung Galaxy s, 10, plus at 7, on it's actually cheaper right now. The galaxy s 10 plus, is cheaper that out. Ok, but this doesn't help at the time of making these videos. These phones are around the seven $800 range with what they can do, what they've been advertised as they are our flagship phones. So in this arena this is my experience.

This is the only thing as of now I can compare to also before we really dive into this video. Why don't you guys know that this video is not sponsored or backed by anyone in any way shape or form? I bought this phone transferred from Sprint AT&T if they had a good deal, I was like okay. Well, let's, let's test this bad boy out, the links provided are Amazon affiliate links. They do support me as a creator, but in no way shape or form help determine if any of these products are good or bad today, alright, so let's get into this guy here the Pixel 4 XL. Let's have a first look: oh okay, not wasting any time getting directly in to the phone, so you get the phone completely wrapped up underneath the little holster for that looks like all the information kind of typical phone unboxing.

Nowadays, you got your hub. Oh okay, that's actually pretty cool. It gives you a USB to USB. Cable, where this is becoming important, is a lot of devices now are allowing that USB see kind of like tethering, also the use of Thunderbolt cables if you've got a laptop that allows Thunderbolt and display to Thunderbolt. This is gonna, be awesome, typical, USB to USB, see adapter looks like maybe this will be where the tool is for the SIM card slot, not the SD slot, because you cannot upgrade the SD in this, which I find it to be extremely stupid.

No headphones, Google not sending out headphones, I know, at least with Samsung. You typically get a set of headphones when you unbox their product, the most satisfying part, getting anything new. Taking the plastic off a whole big shout out to AT&T. They actually just came here, set up the phone for me, while in plastic, so that way, I could do the review now. I want with the black edition just black, and it is the 64 gigabyte edition.

Unfortunately, Google really skipped out on the storage with these new phones. I wanted one of the other color backgrounds, but right now with koan 19, a lot of stuff is hard to come by, but is kind of your typical phone layout.20/20 got your glossy giant back to where you can see everything in the background and then your multiple cameras on the back as well, but as far as presentation goes right off the RIP I'm already like I'm wanting to get into this phone I can already tell that the back is gonna, be a giant fingerprint magnet just like the Samsung Galaxy S 10 plus. So the immediate first thoughts when checking out the pixel for Excel, is a lack of that. Like I didn't feel, like I got my money's worth right off the RIP if I paid full price for this thing, of course, with being an experienced Galaxy purchaser I've had the s9 plus now the s10, plus the overall presentation and what you get with the package in itself. It is like correlates with the idea of wow I just spent my money on all this, but even at that point it's like really Google.

You couldn't throw me in a pair of headphones. Like just spent, you know a lot of money on you, but once you get past the unboxing dive into the product in itself, it's actually pretty relieving. It's very simple, very easy. That's one thing that I've been told about these Google Pixel phones is that in itself, let's blow fewer apps less to deal with and at first I was like. Oh, this is really cool, but then I found myself just heading in a lot of those apps that I was already using on my Samsung, so it's in its just like I, don't know.

Am I defeating the purpose here like oh I got this phone that doesn't have a lot of bloats to it, but now I got a download bloat to it? One of the reasons why I wanted to test out this phone and try this phone is because of the less stuff that will be on it. Software in itself is very clean and minimal, and I do love that about this, like it really is like you dive in here, and it's its boom like simple, easy to navigate clean-cut I do enjoy it, I apologize for any background noise that may be going down right now that people just decided to start chumming up in and weed whacking out in front of my house right now size comparison to the galaxy s 10 plus here it's its pretty similar in sizes. The display of the Pixel 4 XL, coming in at 6.3 inch in the display of the Samsung Galaxy s, 10, plus, coming in at 6.4 inch I'm, going to be honest on the bigger face and of the center cameras. The collection of center cameras I do like how sleek this one at least, is a lot of phones right now or are just going above and beyond, like, for example, the s20 ultra. It's just ridiculous giant the hub, the new iPhones just obnoxious.

This doesn't stand out that much same thing with my Galaxy S 10 plus I really feel like for the camera on this one. So it's a perfect phone. This is also gonna. Get annoying I. Don't have a fingerprint scanner on this one compared to where the Samsung Galaxy has ten plus I do both are rocking a 3040 by 1440 1990 ratio, but the pixel four is rocking 90 Hertz display as to where the Samsung Galaxy s 10, plus it rocks a 60 Hertz display.

You can get a hundred and twenty on the new models, but you can only get that at 1080p, which I find to be just stupid, so initially same resolutions, higher refresh rate on the new Google six gigabytes memory on the pixel, eight gigabytes memory on the Galaxy S 10, plus the galaxy is lighter in terms of it, but I feel like the holding aspect of them. It's a little. It almost feels like the pixel, is a little easier to hold because. Furthermore, it does have this, like matte, finish edge that you get like a nice grip off of, and I believe it is also thicker. We like them thicker here, don't we chat so basic rundown without diving, too deep into the phone's.

It looks like the pixel for Excel and the Samsung Galaxy S 10, plus size-wise like feel wise they're, pretty similar in, like the actual build of it, obviously feeling different with different materials, different weight, different thicknesses, but they are around the same size. Another added bonus to the pixel for is once I actually figured out to get into developer mode, so I could force the 90 Hertz refresh rate. It's its so fast, so much faster, obviously than the 60 Hertz, S, 10, plus, and I can run that at the full resolution. I'm, not a big fan of this little gap up here where it's like I lose that screen I know. Some people complain about the galaxies having that little like hole punch, but it's like really not that big of deal I, don't know why people are bitching about it.

I feel like if I'm going to pay all this money on a phone I would rather have like, like you know my full display option. You know what I mean all right. It's that time of the video again, where I. Let you guys know that if you're, currently not logged in to your YouTube or Gmail, to be sure to do so and hit subscribe. Only 15% of my viewers actually subscribe to this channel and I see you guys coming back.

I appreciate the support, but if you guys could hit that subscribe button turn on those notifications, it would mean a lot. Thank you, man. The touch is really responsive on this phone. I will say that you're not going to be able to notice it on this camera, because this camera is running at 30 frames, a second, but again it just feels. Oh, my god, 22% used already it's like it's brand-new 14 gigabytes man Google really cut some corners with some things in this, like I'm, pretty shocked, I've heard a lot of good things about Google phones, but so far like the negatives are pretty like I, don't understand them.

Let's see what a biggie video looks like on this thing. Oh man, this is so much faster, though I don't know. If you can see that like it, the response is just so quick compared to the galaxy s.10, plus the galaxy s.10 plus, is an am oh led. That's where this is just say: o LED they'll know what the difference is between the two check out. The video I want to check the sound out as well.

Oh wow, holy cow with companies like IKEA, for example, not being open or overdone in certain area, Li get audio, okay, I, don't know who this guy is, but I would definitely, definitely check him out because perfect content right here. The quality is actually looking perfect.2020, like quality on these phones that are 1440p technically in resolution, I think are going to be good, no matter what, but I definitely feel a little of the difference. Diving further into the phone I got into the camera, and, oh, my god, I will say without a doubt. The camera on this thing is pretty insane in terms of taking photos. I want to make that very clear in terms of taking photos when it comes to video I'm still on the as 10 plus right now, just because I have a lot of extra features that I don't have on the Google pick tool.

But again that's what makes the Google Pixel unique. Oh man, I seriously can't believe they did not enable wide-angle for cameras. Light angles. I feel like on phones in 2020 are a must any more way more important than a macro. Every phone brain right now is putting a macro on their phone and I, don't understand it.

Who is seriously just out there getting so close. Taking pity I mean it's like a cool feature, we're so you all. Look how close I can get to this thing and take a picture of it, but at the end of the day, like water people wanting to use every single day or running a gun right, that's what I'm talking about the phone in the first place, I'm trying to influence creators out there to understand like hey, you don't need to go out and buy this crazy, extravagant camera. For your first thing, to start learning or to start vlogging, creating videos, you can start off with your phone Google you're, not helping me out with this process here what people can't get a wide-angle out of their cell phone when you can't on other devices out there. This was stupid man! Ok, so this is the Google portrait mode, holy cow colors in detail, -.

That is awesome and, like the background blur that it actually creates the bouquet that it makes is pretty realistic from like a camera standpoint, if you guys don't know, I am a photographer, so some cameras I know that they do these features. But, like you can't, you can't trick me with some of these things. I can clearly tell about this. So, let's see what night mode looks like, so the rest of my room over here has not lit up whoa. Okay dude, it looks just like a light is on in the photo based off the carpet and the wall.

There's no light there. Just 100% me taking a photo behind the light that is currently on this table right now, looking into a dark portion of the room, all right so right now, I'm recording on the Google Pixel for man, the exposing is actually perfect for a camera phone Oh manage that that tap to expose is awesome so nonetheless for a camera phone, it's definitely pretty good. I actually took a picture of my setup last night for Twitter and people were blown away by the quality of the photo in itself and I took it at nighttime. It's astonishing how good this camera is other things that I'm very confused about I'm just lost how you would develop a flagship phone knowing this stuff, the notorious thing everybody talks about with this: the battery life, the battery life in this phone, just even using it in a full day, was note Rocha to deal with I noticed that the wireless charger on this thing, too seems to work a lot less than like the Samsung Galaxy has 10 plus, for example, I had it on my high-speed wireless charger all night, and it only charged it to 93%. The s10 Plus has a 4100 William hour battery, and this has a 3700 off the rip, even though this came out more recently, this has substantially a less battery in it.

Alright, let's dive into more reasons why this phone pissed me off, you can buy the 64 gigabyte or the 128 gigabyte options, but with the Samsung Galaxy, S, 10, plus you're, able to start off with 128 and I, think you can get up to 512 just internal, and then you can extend it with a micros as well. That's a big one where I feel like they really cut corners. I can kind of understand the wide angle thing like uh well back that off, I can also get by the battery and some aspect, even though it's much thicker than the galaxy s 10 plus, so I'm like what is inside this thing, that's making it so bulky I can get by those things. But the big thing right now in 2020 is storage files are just getting bigger and bigger people are constantly downloading, creating content, I'm so confused as to why Google would you cut a corner on storage that doesn't make sense to me? Let me know what you guys think in the comments down below I. Think that's the big one, some middle grounds you can save on the battery by not running it at 90 Hertz.

But then again, it's kind of like that is one of the main advertisements about this phone. Is its very clean software? You can get ninety Hertz quad HD out of it, but then you're going to be extremely penalized with battery usage. Due to doing that, you can use this like adaptive, refresh rate note where it will automatically go down at 60 Hertz as some times I noticed that there was a lot of inconsistency when that was enabled, like I felt like most time. Actually it was at 60 Hertz, which again it just kind of defeats. The purpose on the idea of saying hey.

This is a powerhouse item that this phone has over other phones out there on the market right now. Ninety Hertz is obviously very much advertised with this phone. That's a huge talking point with this. So using an option of like well, you can just save battery life by not using 90 Hertz as much or not using it all that just defeats the purpose. One thing: that's weird: to mean it's a subjective middle ground, because I've gotten used to the galaxy is the fingerprint scanner.

I love the fingerprint scanner I'm trying to get used to the face reader on this thing. So far, it's its not too bad I'm actually shocked at how well it works in like low like conditions like last night, I was on my phone just watching some TV in her bedroom, and it would work every single time all in all, though the plane of this video it's to look at my investment into a phone, so that way, I can suggest you guys and gals phones out there as well as hey. If you spend your money on this item, it seems to be worth it. After simply dealing with these two in a day, I'm confused if either I'm getting way more than I understand, I'm getting for the cost, with the galaxy series, or I'm confused of Google, just for some reason, just decided to put all their money into marketing this thing advertising to get it out there and cut so many corners on everything else. That's the only thing that I can truly think of from this situation.

Some of the things that they cut corners on are some of the most crucial things to having a cell phone. Nowadays, they are the most important aspects of doing so: storage battery life, the camera options, I'm just so lost as to what their guideline was for doing that I want to like this phone. It's clean. It's smooth. Furthermore, it has a certain sense of user functionality.

That is very casual. It's its nice! It's easy on the fingers! Furthermore, it's easy on the eyes, but I'm pissed about it. Even though I got a perfect deal, I'm pissed that people could buy this, or they could buy the Galaxy S 10 plus for around the same price, and maybe some people are unaware of what they could truly get out of a phone like this in comparison to the pixel for Excel. So I would say if you're in the market right now and this Google Pixel for Excel, hasn't dropped to like three to five hundred dollar range for some options, for you guys, maybe you're getting a new plan, or you're upgrading, and you can get it for that cheap with, like no trade-in or stuff, like that. Perfect deals right.

If you can get a perfect deal on this thing, I'd say: okay, you want to check it out, that's fine! But all in all, if you're going to compare this to other flagship phones out there in the current price range, it's just not worth it. In my opinion, you get so much more out of some of these other phones out. There example, the s10 plus so I'd say go on that range, especially if your gone hard phone user you're on your phone all day. Applications you want to work here. You want to work there.

You don't have a lot of time to charge.100% got to suggest something like the galaxy as 10-plus in your situation, but if you are a phone connoisseur, if you like a little more clean, simple, minimal real estate when it comes to using your phone, you want to have some new additional perks. Example like 90 Hertz display I mean it's very good display as well the face reader technology. If you want just some little added bonuses into a very clean, real estate phone, maybe you can get a deal on it as well. I would say that this might be the phone that is for you. It is very easy to use, which is nice, but again, like I mentioned earlier in the video I'm, just finding myself, adding some of those things back to the phone in the first place, which defeats the purpose of it at the end of the day.

This is just my experience, good or bad. These are just my thoughts, I'm interested to see what you guys and gals think what you guys have gone through in terms of the pixel phones. You have any experience with these phones. Let us know in the comments down below what you think what you like disliked about them, what pixel phone you got over another phone and why you decided to do that. If maybe you moved from pixel I'm mad at this thing, but Google I'm gonna, give you a chance.

I already invested it into a phone case, I'm gonna. Try it out for a few weeks. I will give you guys more long-term review and the upcoming months, but you all pissed me off with this one. I, don't know why you're flexing on a price with this stuff in the phone, but you skipped out on some ammonia, okay, you're, making it really hard to trust you alright, guys gals. If you enjoyed today's video likes comments down below.

If you have any questions, suggestions or concerns subscribed turn on those notifications. That's all I got for you guys today, I'm out, peace probably should go charge. This thing already.
