Huawei Mate 40 Pro Unboxing & Camera Test By WhatGear

So, have you ever seen that film Blade Runner well today, Huawei have kitted out a studio somewhere here in London for the Huawei Mate 40 pro press events, and it's a drive-through event. So the entire thing I'm going to be in some kind of luxury car with all the latest Huawei tech, and I'm going to drive through this set. Are you ready? Let's go all right so now, I've just been picked up by a hammer driver in a very nice car and got a little welcome note from Huawei and also the parcel. Let's see what's in this thing, all right, so they cooked up the mate 40 pro here brand new in the box, and I'm going to try to do a world's first for what gear an unboxing of a phone in a car on the way to a studio where I don't know exactly what's going on but, like I said before, something to do with Blade Runner it's going to be exciting. Hopefully I have the phone set up in time to film some stuff on the actual device for you guys and take some photos on the actual device. So check this out.

Look at the color on that that circle module on the back of this phone has four cameras in it, and they say they were inspired by a black hole in space. That's what's inspired that camera module there on the back of the Huawei Mate 40 pro, and I'm told this might be some of the best cameras you can get on any smartphone right now and then, when it comes to the color of this device. That's like an improvement on the note 10 plus from last year. It's kind of a matted finish, so it should eliminate some of those fingerprints that you normally get on. Most phones and it's basically silver, but then it's got all kinds of different colors in there as well just boot.

This thing up and then check this out as well. You've got the trademark red accent button there. So all of Huawei's flagship products will have this red accent somewhere on it and, of course, mate.40 top tier flagships from Huawei is right there on the power button. So I don't know if you guys can see this, but that camera there on the top corner, that's a periscope camera, so it's got the kind of square cut out, and it's probably got a lens that shifts back and forwards or a mirror that shifts back and forwards in there. So periscope lens, we'll test out the zoom capabilities on this we're booted up now, and you can see you've got that waterfall edge down the sides.

Some people love this. Some people hate it. I don't mind it. I think it adds to the comfort of the device when you're holding it, but first impressions really, really good of this device. We've got the speaker grille here on the bottom USB we've got sim tray here on the bottom unusual to see a sim tray on the bottom of the device.

We've also got a speaker grille on the top, so on the p40 pro one of the sort of criticisms that people had about that device, was it only had one downward firing? Speaker now, we've got full stereo speakers on the mate 40. We still got the pill cut out here in the top corner. I don't mind it personally, especially if they balance it out with some really great selfie cameras. First, impressions of the screen are very good as well. I do like the design on this.

The rounded corners and everything very nicely designed and Huawei are never one to skimp out on the case, the protective case. The last thing you want to do when you get a brand-new phone, is drop it on the first day and break it so Huawei hooked you up a silicon case there for the device, that's cool, and it looks nice when it's on as well. So this charger here is a European one that is actually a 66. What fast charger one of the fastest in the business right now superfast charger for the device. Of course, you've got your USB cable.

I believe they've gone with uh orange accent on the USB, and then you've got a sort of generic pair of wired earbuds. These are going to be USB earbuds because there is no analog headphone jack. So that's the unboxing on the mate 40 pro in car done, and we're still on the way to the venue. So once we get there, I'm going to film some stuff actually on this device and take some photos on this device, and then I'll catch. You guys at the end of the video just to wrap this up and give you my first impressions of this new flagship device from Huawei all right, so we've just had to stop because we've arrived early at the print works here in London.

Apparently it's all kitted out like a film studio in there and what I'm going to do quickly now is just test out the cameras a little. I've got some new trainers I'll take a photo of my new trainers. Lutheran box therapy said ultra boost are the best trainers, so I had to put that to the test and get a pair of myself and I have to say, liking them check this out and I want to say a huge thank you to Huawei for hooking this up and the awesome driver Hamid over here in this very nice car. Just hooked me up the new free bud pro studio, three budget studios and uh going to connect it up to the mate 40 now so power is on anyway. Let's get into that studio all right, so they just set up a little shot here, with an actor standing in front of a bunch of flashing lights, and I'm going to film a little of this. So you guys can see how this kind of handles there's a little of a smoky environment here and loads of backlighting. So it's going to be interesting to see how good this video footage actually is checked this out lights. Camera action, this scene is all about the story, creator mode.

So some cool things you can do with the Huawei Mate 40 pro when it comes to the video side of things is you've now got tracking. So you can actually track a subject with the video camera and follow that subject. You have to be a certain distance away if it's too close far away. It's not going to work so well, but check this footage out, and you'll see how good it is so just got to test these out here in the warehouse, and they were playing music. In the background, whilst we were using these listening to music, they got 40 decibels of noise, cancelling they're definitely up there with some of my favorite noise cancelers right now, and they also look really quite sleek and awesome, and when it comes to pairing this super easy to do, you saw that when they first handed them to me now we're just using Huawei share with this laptop here uh, which is a mate pad, make book sorry mate book, one of the one of them touched it on the touchpad, and now we can transfer all the video stuff.

My Blade Runner footage to the computer. We got to see what this is capable of in pretty low light and very smoky conditions, and I will be putting this for his paces when it comes to camera quality in regular daylight and at night as well, testing out all the nice stuff and the zoom capabilities. I know you guys are interested in the zoom capabilities of these phones, and also it wasn't just about the phone it was about the other stuff like these, the headphones as well as all the other end stuff. They were talking about all kinds of gadgets which kind of link to your phone, so your phone is the one. Then you've got the eight which is stuff like computers, headphones and all that kind of stuff.

Then you got the n. This is the new category of products that Huawei are getting into to try and reach out a bit further with the ecosystem. It's fascinating stuff and this phone is looking truly awesome, and I hope you guys have enjoyed this quick journey with me today for a unique Huawei press event.
