Could Apple Watch Series 4 Save Your Life?

We just tried out Apple's new electrocardiogram feature hugely anticipated. Gives you a window into your heart health that is now live. We've had an early preview of it, so we can show you exactly how it works. You just pull up this little signal that looks like a squiggly line. You tap once, and then you see a heart pop up, and it tells you just to hold the finger on a crown, so I'm, just gonna hold my thumb and I. Don't even need to push it down sit really still here, because if you move, then you will end up getting an inconclusive result, all right.

We're done here, and I've, just gotten a result, saying sinus rhythm, and what that means is that my electrocardiogram, which is basically a look into my heart's electrical signal or rhythm, is totally normal and that's somewhat to be expected because I am fairly young and healthy for those that are at a higher risk and are concerned about their heart health. This could be a fascinating and unique feature that could potentially save lives. So when Apple announced these new features, they actually came with a style of clearance called a de Nova clearance, and that means that this is the first time the FDA has said that they will approve a technology like this, that there is nothing else on the market like it and I think the reason that Apple went for that specific type of clearance is because they wanted it to be direct-to-consumer. They wanted you to be able to take this measurement yourself, and they wanted you to have access to it right away without having to have a physician approve now, of course, apples very clear that it's not supposed to replace your family doctor. It can't monitor certain conditions like a heart attack, and it still wants you to engage with a medical system.

So you do have an option to export your EKG straight to your family. Physician before the company came out with these features, they did a lot of studies on a certain cohort of people to make sure that they were actually accurately able to detect atrial fibrillation, one of the tests that they did was with Stanford. They partnered up with them on an apple heart study and that showed that, with a high degree of confidence that they could make an assessment like this, and it also proved to be important data that they could provide to federal regulators like the FDA. So the update is out now and if you happen to have the Apple Watch Series for, and you've upgraded it to the latest software. Let me know what you think: I'd love to get a sense of how you're finding this service, as always I'm, reachable on Twitter.
