Google Pixel 5 vs Pixel 4 XL

Here we have the newest and greatest Google Pixel 5. Well, maybe the greatest. Maybe because you see here we have the 2019 Google Pixel 4 XL, and you know what in some aspects it is better than the new one. Let's open that can of worms right now and dive deep into it. Look at these phones, one is prettier than the other care for a hint. Let me light those displays here: real fast whoa, that's a forehead for sure, yeah, okay, okay, old forehead, jokes aside, the Google Pixel 4 XL and even the small pixel 4 they're, still pretty good-looking devices.

They've got a soft touch. They have this elegant, look with the contrasting frame in the back. It's a nice design. When you get used to that, and then we have the pixel 5. You know I was really worried about the finish on the back here.

The pixel 5 doesn't have a glass back, yet it supports wireless charging. That's because its aluminum body has been coated in a layer of another material, and I was kind of afraid that it would feel like plastic, like the lg g5, for those of you that remember that, but now the pixel 5 feels pretty great. It's a unique soft touch that brings its own luxurious feel. You will also notice that the pixel 5 has a cleaner front. Google was quick to give up on the radar attack aka project solely that made up for that top bezel on the pixel 4.

, so the pixel 5 has slim bezels all around and a single selfie camera nested right here in the display. But the difference is more than just aesthetics. The pixel 4's front module provided a face, unlocking system, you look at the phone you're in that's it just like face ID on the iPhone. The pixel 5 has none of that there's just no room for it, so it's stuck to the good old fingerprint scanner on the back, and that, in my opinion, is a solid step backwards. I've always hated rear-mounted fingerprint scanners, and I still do you can't access them when the phone is lying down or when it's on a stand.

Like one of those nifty wireless charging stands you need to grab the phone in a specific way to fish for the scanner. I find it a nuisance. Now, let's see those brilliant screens, the Google Pixel 4 came in two different sizes. There was the normal 5.7 inch pixel 4, and this here is the bigger brother, the Pixel 4 XL, with a 6.3-inch screen. In contrast, the pixel 5 comes in a one.

Size fits all option. It's a 6-inch screen, which is a great middle ground. It's even worth noting that the pixel 5 has a narrower design. Its aspect ratio is 19.5 by nine, as opposed to 19 by nine on the pixel 4. So the new model might have that scary sounding 6-inch screen size on paper, but it's still very, very manageable.

When held with just one hand, the panels are both OLED on both phones really well calibrated, both with popping colors, deep blacks and sharp details. How sharp well the pixel 5 has a 1080p resolution. The Pixel 4 XL goes up to 1440p, but don't scoff at the 1080p panel. The pixel 5 still has a pixel density of 430 PPI. So trust me, that's sharp enough! Now.

What about processing power? Well, the pixel 4 is powered by 2019's best, the Qualcomm snapdragon 855, the pixel 5, as you might have heard, took a step into mid-range land. It doesn't have the top tier snapdragon this year. Instead, it has the snapdragon 765 g on upper mid-range chip. Does this affect performance? Well only to the point where both of these points are kind of on par with each other yep snappiness and load times. You've got 2 pixels that work identically.

Well, the Pixel 4 XL is just a bit ahead when it comes to really heavy tasks like image editing, but that only comes up in some very niche scenarios. In other words, if you already have a pixel 4, you don't need to go and rush to upgrade to a pixel 5 or, if you're, currently trying to choose between last year's pixel 4 generation or a brand-new pixel 5 processing power shouldn't be on your pros and cons list, they're very, very close to each other. There's this one thing: the pixel 5 does support 5g out of the box, both sub 6 and millimeter wave. So it is ready for that future of connectivity, which it's coming yeah at some point now, cameras that's just another place where we're going to hit the stalemate, see the pixel 4 and the pixel 5 have what seems to be the same 12.2 megapixel camera, which is definitely not a bad thing. By the way, Google's algorithms for post-processing have been praised for quite a while now and for good reason.

As soon as you press that shutter button, the pixel phone will take a few different shots and stitch them together. To give you the best possible photo. Both phones perform great even in high dynamics. You'll get realistic and vivid colors without getting over saturated great details with restraint. Sharpening popping highlights visible shadows, both the pixel 4 and the pixel 5, just knock it out of the park.

Here's a point where they do differ, though the pixel 4 secondary camerae is a 16 megapixel telephoto camera with two times optical zoom, the pixel 5 secondary camerae is a 16 megapixel ultra-wide camera and google kind of shifts its own opinion on whether it wants a secondary camera and what it should be every year. First, they said we don't need a secondary camera last year. They said we don't need an ultrawide, but the telephoto is good. So, while wide angle can be fun, we think telephoto is more important. This year we have an ultra ride, no telephoto, why it's maddening, but here you have it: the pixel 4 and the Pixel 4 XL.

Have this 16 megapixel telephoto camera with two times optical zoom for sharper, portraits, that's not to say that the pixel 5 doesn't zoom in for portrait shots. It just does it with a digital crop instead which it's neither here nor there, the pixel 5's ultra-wide camera, allows for epic landscapes or action shots. Personally, I prefer to have a telephoto lens, but I do know that there are a lot of people out there that prefer the ultra-wide angle if they are forced to choose between one or the other. So it's up to you to decide onto battery the pixel 5 in this tiny body has a 4 080 William hour cell, while the Pixel 4 XL here has a hundred 3700 power cells. It's quite smaller, and you know the 2019 pixels were not known for having the best battery life.

Maybe a day tops now. The pixel 5 with sparing use, can definitely take you beyond the day a day and a half and some have even reported two days of moderate usage, so yeah when it comes to battery life. I do trust the pixel 5 just a bit more, but you can manage with the Pixel 4 XL the pixel 4. Only if you're, not a heavy user. That about does it, which one of these pixels is the pixel for you, mid-range Peterson or for him forehead.

Well, let us know in the comments down below like this video dislike. It then, like it again subscribe for more stuff, and I'll, see you next time you.
